not a new light, just a positive light.. sometimes on here i worry that all jws are painted with a bad brush when i know that not to be the case.
today i was looking after a jw patient on the ward and she was the most wonderful old girl you could meet, she really made me smile, and she was bright as a button.
later her family came in, who i didn't recognise and they were just as pleasent.
I don't know Scoob.... sometimes I kinda feel the same way you do.
But, then I realize that for most of them it's just an act until they know for sure that you are never going to believe (or no longer believe) what they do. Even the nicest will shun someone (even their own child/parent/sibling) when told to. Why? Because they are following orders. That's never been a valid excuse in my opinion.

Yes, there are a lot of us here who were once in the same situation as you are. Growing up gay is hard enough, but when you add being a JW to that formula it appears impossible at times.
I was never DF'd. I did a nice, slow fade complicated by a move to another area. However, I did it because I knew that I was gay. I knew it for a long, long time before I was able to admit it to myself. After being out for a couple of years, I met the most wonderful guy. We've been together for six years now. He's not just the love of my life, he's my best friend. I am happy that you have found someone to share your life with. However, I am sorry to hear that your family and friends have blindly done what the bOrg told them to do and shun you. It is a totally unnecessary, unchristian act. I am very blessed that my family no longer shuns me. In fact, they have welcomed my partner into our family with open arms. This is something that I NEVER would have thought possible six years ago.
I know it hurts terribly, but please take it a step at a time. It will all come to you as you are ready for it. Don't get discouraged, like I did, because you aren't as 'out' as some of us here. We all progress at our own pace. And, I'd suspect that there are people reading this who haven't posted at all, who are still 'in,' and haven't come as far as you have.

Since there are so many people on here with CPAP machines, I thought I'd pass along this little tip I stumbled across.
As you know, if you have a stuffy nose, you can't use your CPAP machine. This time of year is the worst for me. However, last week my partner brought home some Sleep Right strips and told me to put one on before I put on my mask. OMG! It totally worked! I could really breathe and got a great night's sleep.

I have it, too.
I LOVE MY CPAP MACHINE! I can't imagine what I would do without it. After getting it in 2002, I was able to be a better husband, friend and employee. Before I got the machine, I was falling asleep everywhere, even driving! I was not a nice person to be around. After the machine, I feel rested and am generally in a better mood all the way around.
However, my issue right now is that I need a new mask. I've had my current one since I got the machine and it's straps and pads are worn out. I checked with my insurance company and since I didn't have my study in AR, I would have to have another one here for them to pay for anything. I've hinted that I want all my friends and family to go together to get me a new mask for my birthday.
I would urge anyone who may have this condition to get help for it as soon as possible. If you don't have insurance, you may be able to work out a payment plan with some doctors.

i know thinks would be very different for me, if my family wasn't out with me or if i was df'd or if some friends from the hall didn't stay in touch or if i hadn't been able to make other friends.. i know that for some of you, the holiday season stinks because of being in limbo or being df'd and not making new friends yet or other reasons all related to the wtbts.. maybe you are alone without your family.
that is terrible knowing that in general this is a day that family is celebrated.. a huge (((hug))) to you then.
my apologies that life is like that for you this moment and i hope happiness runs you down and overtakes you very soon!.
we will celebrate our freedom today, toast to our new future, and savor a turkey that, for the first time in 30 years, we are actually eating on Thursday (rather than Friday).

saturday night, i visited my local bookstore/coffee shop.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Shunning really is an unloving thing to do. I tried to explain it to my partner, but having never been a JW, he just doesn't get it. I guess more than anything, I'm more annoyed with the fact that I let it get to me.
Anyway, I'm over it now. It helped a lot when I overheard the employees at the coffee shop talking about this big table of rude people who were in on Saturday night. I recognized it to be the big table of JWs. I didn't even have to tell the employees that they were JWs to feel better... doing that was just icing on the cake. Of course, once I happened to mention it, she said, "It figures, none of them tipped."
Again, thanks for listening. Getting it off my chest helped the most.
