I'm sick of liberals trying to denegrate society and traditional values...of trying to destroy the society we know and create one that's foriegn to most people. That's what I'm sick of.

Interesting post. Made me think a little bit. I think you have a little bit of circular reasoning going on. This is what I "heard" when I read your post:

For straight people, traditional values (i.e., the way it's been up until now) would be getting married. Conversely, that would mean that those straight couples who choose to live together without marriage would be, as you put it, denegrating to society and traditional values.
For gay people, traditional values would be living together. While the marriage of two gay people would cause the downfall of our society and values. (I think you're giving gay people way too much power.)

Why should it be different based on who you love? Honestly, if the love of two people (no matter what sex they are) is a threat to a society and it's values, then that society wasn't very strong after all. That society would need strengthening. Which is what has happened to our society over the decades. Our society would be totally foriegn to your grandparents; you grandchildren's society may be totally foriegn to you.

I don't always agree with your posts, but they always make me think.

All the churches around here have these sign. Most of them use them to bash other religions in some form or another. WHY??? I don't understand it. At least the KHs don't have them. Could you imagine the things they'd put up there?

The Passion of the Christ (Movie)

after hearing the pro's and con's about the movie, i went to see it this afternoon.

i know we all have differing views, but i'm interested in knowing what impression it left you.

for me, i went in with a critical eye and i was emotionally detached from the movie.

I'm going on Saturday.

Tonight's news reported that a woman in Kansas (I think Kansas), was so overcome by the movie that she suffered a heart attact during the crucifixion scene and died later in the hospital.

Not sure what to think now.

food at the assembly

remember a few years ago 97 and down even more there use to be food at the assemblys(not the big rent-astadium ones).

i remember back then probally being 5,6,7,8 they use to give out food like hots hamburgers chips and so.

any idea why there isnt anymore?

My family was always involved with food service. It was a great way to miss most of the morning session! I have to admit, I always thought the Shasta was crap, but I loved the the pudding they had.

Update on my Mom's stroke.

first off, i want to thank you all for your words of support that you gave me on the last thread i posted about a month or so again.

i know i don't know any of you all personally, but your words of support and encouragement meant a lot to me.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I know it had to rip your heart out to put her in the nursing home. My mother-in-law had two strokes about three years ago. She lost complete control over her left side. We had no choice but to put her in a home. We found an excellent home with one of the best physical therapists in West Texas. When she went in, she couldn't sit up or eat anything that wasn't pureed (sp?). After a couple of months, she started applying herself to the therapy. About six months after that she began walking. Today, she lives on her own again.

The best thing you can do is be there as often as you can. Take her out when you can. Encourage her. And above all, remind her how much you love her. (These are things you're already doing, I know.) The nurses told us that the stroke patients they get that improve the most are those who have a lot of support from the family. Also, see if there is a support group for family members. We found this extremely helpful for us. Of course, if there isn't one there, you can always count on us for support.

My heart and support go out to you and your family.

I didn't get to see the final show (no HBO), but I did get to see SNL do thier little "tribute" to the show. It was really funny and Christina Agularia did a dead-on Kim Catrall impression!

(Lyin' Eyes, Last I heard, QAF comes back on at the beginning of the summer.)

for me it's a tie between the time a certain gentlement didn't realize his thingy was "out", waving in the breeze, i couldn't hold it together... laughed until i cried.

or the time the po's wife stepped in dog poo and i laughed and she wasn't amused.....

I was in service with a young 'brother' (about age 6) who kept telling his mom that he had to go to the bathroom. She kept putting him off. "Just one more door. Just one more door." I take him to the "last" door with me. While I'm going through my presentation, I notice this look of horror come over the lady's face. He really had to go, AND WAS GOING ON HER FRONT PORCH! Needless to say, she didn't take the literature! It wasn't very funny then, but now it totally cracks me up!
