Coming to terms with the Watchtower experience
by Lee Elder init is a challenge coming to terms with your experience as a jehovah's witness.
if you were born and raised as a jw, and your parents were true believers, the impact on your life is profound, lasting, and largely negative.
in some cases quite abusive emotionally, spiritually, financially, educationally and yes, even sexually.. i recently watched "trumbo", and was quite moved by dalton trumbo's speech to the screen writers guild in 1970. here is an excerpt that i think is quite relevant to this topic:.

JW Hypocrisy Rears It's Ugly Head...As Usual
by babygirl30 inso about last night.... i am out at a local club (not restaurant, not event venue - a club) to see a rap concert.
now, i am with some friends minding my own business, and i find that i am standing right behind 3 active jw's - one of whom used to be my best friend.
this girl is as fake as they come: 1) she used to live with me and would bring non-jw guys home all the time, 2) was living with a man when she lived down south - until he dumped her, and then she decided to go back to jw's the 1st time and got reproved, and i supported her.

The hypocrisy is through the roof in JW land. It is the main reason we left. After we left we learned TTATT. It gave me the answer I needed. Something just isn't right, what is it? I asked this question probably my entire life. TTATT answered that question, which gave me the peace of mind to leave and enjoy my life.
We just wish our families could figure it out but we are not holding our breath.

Welcome corruptgirl! So glad you have learned TTATT. My husband introduced me to his doubts and TTATT before I came to my own conclusion. Reading COC was an eye opener for him. I am grateful that he shared his doubts. I knew for years (maybe my whole life) that something just was not right. Now I know what that "something" was. It was TTATT! -

"These people are going to be hit up for money left and right to help people who followed the religion's unwise advice!!...There will be NO end to this! This will be the ugly reality and the new normal in the Witness religion."
Yes, I agree. The issue that we believe is starting to happen and will continue to happen is those people getting hit up for money are getting tired of being "hit up" all of the time. The GB and other "priviledged" ones in the KH insult those who choose a different path (jobs and education) and then they come around when they need something (money and/or skills). It's becoming more and more obvious to so many. They are tapping everyone out!

Yup...shunning is alive and well. It will get more intense after their summer convention on loyalty.
Inactives will get hit hard. We will stand tall and give the one finger salute!

June 2016 WT (study edition) Bashing Higher Education....AGAIN!

"this means that we need to examine our heart constantly to see if it is being enticed by worldly entertainment, associations, and styles of dress and grooming.
or the love of the world might involve efforts to attain “great things,” such as through the pursuit of higher education.

The GB loves "great things", as long as someone else is footing the bill. -

"yet they choose to talk us out of school, then ask for people with degrees to come to bethel and work on the new computer system."
Here's where the contradictions and hypocrisy comes in. I guess if WT can "use" you to pursue "kingdumb interests" all is ok.
Hadriel....Whack-tower. My new word for the day. Love it.

Paragraph 14:
"This means that we need to examine our heart constantly to see if it is being enticed by worldly entertainment, associations, and styles of dress and grooming. Or the love of the world might involve efforts to attain “great things,” such as through the pursuit of higher education. (Jer. 45:4, 5)"
Higher education helps us attain "great things?
Mortgage or monthly rent
Health insurance
Food
Clothes/shoes/school supplies for kids
Glasses/braces for kids
Car payment to get to and from work
Gas/car insurance for car to get to and from work.
These are MY "great things." How about you?
These are the things people that don't live in the real world pass judgement onto others that are just trying to support their families.
