Well, a ruckus is definitely bigger than a commotion, I know that for sure! But I still think a keffuffle is minor-small potatoes, you know? Forgetting to put the toilet seat down results in a keffuffle, but forgetting to buy toilet paper when there's none in the house, now that results in a ruckus-as well as an unsightly mess.

Who would do such a dumb thing? And why? Too many people have too much time on their hands...
Thanks, Brummie, I know I did the right thing, but I still wish he'd get out of the org. He needs it too much though, sad...he was my favorite dance partner.

Well, I'd say brouhaha over keffuffle every time, but even bigger is a ruckus. Everyone knows that! Geez...

The Self- Righteousness of Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus ini always knew it existed.
but being apart from it more, it's so obvious that the pharisees were in the minor leagues as opposed to the witnesses of today.
there are more rules and implied rules in this organization!

The self-righteousness was something that REALLY pissed me off! One time a memorial service was being held at the little airport we all flew out of, for a friend who had died in a recent crash. We all felt terrible for the loss of a good pilot and friend. My JW ex boyfriend said self-righteously that he wasn't going to the service because he was "a resurrectionist" and didn't believe in this guy's particular religion. It wasn't about religion-it was about respect and friendship. I hope he gets as much consideration if he ever bites the ground.

I believe the aggressive attitude comment was meant for JLL, not you. You seem harmless.
I, personally, came here to try to understand how an intelligent, funny, charming 57 year old man could allow a bunch of guys in cheap suits in Brooklyn, NY to destroy our relationship. Since I can't possibly swallow the WT dreck, I am therefore, an apostate. And although I loved him with all my heart, I was unacceptable. He lived a double life for a long time, but I got tired of being his dirty little secret, and so had to say goodbye. I came here for comfort and assurance that I had done the right thing, which I found, and also lots of new friends, interesting topics and much, much, useful information. So I stick around.
Welcome aboard and I hope you find the same. It's a nice group of people here, for the most part.

Anyone here like sailing?
by hubert ini finally got to meet up with my best friend this weekend, and while having lunch with him at an ocean front restaurant, got to see a 3-masted schooner on the horizon, heading out to sea.
what a sight that was !!
it was a beautiful day, and a bit breezy, which was ideal for the schooner.

I love sailing! I have friends who live near Tampa on the Little Manatee river. They have a large catamaran and we go down from time to time and sail with them. We sail down the river to Tampa Bay and it's just gorgeous! That's where we spent 4th of July weekend. We'd get up, eat breakfast, get on the boat, sail until the afternoon thunderstorms gathered, sailed home, shower, eat, flop on the couches and get up to do it all over again the next day! On the 4th we sailed across the bay to St. Pete and watched the fireworks from the boat. They also have a pedal kayak we took along to scoot around the bay from boat to boat.
I'd also love to do one of those cruises where you're part of the crew. That would be a blast.

Question ref baptism annulment
by JustTickledPink inmy sister and i are both df'd.. but difference is she is from canada, i am in florida.
she grew up and was kinda abandoned and abused and drifted between family members who would care for her and she ended up being baptized at 16 yoa by some local elders.
she's now 40 yoa and has been df'd most of her adult life.

I may be showing my ignorance here, but why would it be important to have your baptism annulled? If you no longer believe in their religion and you are no longer a practicing witness, why not just go on with your life? May be there's something I'm not understanding?

What "cult-like" practices have you noticed with Born-Again Christians?
by booker-t ini recently went to a "pentacostal church" with my neighbor who has been a devout pentacostal for 30 years.
she has been asking me for years to come to her church since i left jw's so i finally went with her a few sundays ago.
i must admit i was nearly scared "speechless".

I have a good friend whom I love dearly, but he can't see the difference between "spiritual" and "religious". In his mind, if I don't believe things his way, which is Americanized Christianity, then I'm "lost." Personally I believe that saying there is only one way to find God is like saying there is only one way to get to the mall from my house. God is much bigger. American Christians don't seem to realize they believe something that's been sifted and re-translated, gutted of whole chapters that didn't sit right with this pope or that one and reinterpreted for umpty dozen years. They act as if God handed Moses a leather bound copy of the King James Bible with his name engraved in gold on the cover.
I deplore a "we're right and they're wrong" attitude because it just isn't what Jesus would do. My first ex-husband was a Methodist minister. I put him through seminary and we ate, slept and breathed scripture and theology. I was one of those obnoxious black and white thinkers and I'm sure my whole family would have cheerfully throttled me. After husband # 2 went on a 10 year drinking binge, I found Al Anon, which gradually introduced me to a spiritual way of life, and I feel that I have grown closer to God than I ever did in my church lady days.
If you want to know what God thinks-ask he/she will be glad to instruct if you have an ear to listen. I don't ned or want anyone interpreting what God wants for me. I prefer to get it straight from the source.

Formerout and XQ-why don't you go to war in PMs? You have hijacked this thread and turned it into a private argument which isn't going to help the teacher.
