in the early 1980s, i worked at bechtel corporation in san francisco.
i commuted 45 miles one way each day in heavy traffic, taking a total time of 11-12 hours per day from the time i left home until i arrived home from work.
in addition, i traveled a great deal for the company, spending many hours on airplanes.
Funny but scary.
Last night we were riding in the car with my 1 year old who was clowning around for the other three (who are being brainwashed by their father, my ex to be JW's) The one-year old starts belly laughing and throwing her head back and all three girls yell, "Jehovah save us!"
My husband looks at me and I just roll my eyes. I guess demons are everywhere.

my son is 13; and i am his teacher (homeschooled).
interestingly, the father was only concerned that the kid wasnt paying attention at meetings!.
While in the organization, I homeschooled all my kids off and on. I just like being around them and hated delegating their educations and waking hours to people who really didn't care. But we live in Utah and the class sizes are horrendous. The schools don't even have air conditioning. I always wondered why the dog pound did and not the schools. But Utah has more kids than dogs, I suppose.
Now I am out and the court ordered neither of us can homeschool so as not to isolate one parent. So for now they are back in. I NEVER isolated them at all. I took them out to museums and the like and always had other families involved. I would never recommend it if someone lived in a sparsely populated area either. Children need people other than family.
If I had the chance, I would do it part time and stick them in for art, music, sports, in a heartbeat.
I did know some wackos though.

i was just thinking that if charles taze russell were alive today he wouldn't even recognize the religion he started.
in fact, many of the things he did are now disfellowshippable offenses.
for instance, he had a christmas tree in the bethel home and he wore a beard.

How is it that smoking is condemned by the GB (or at least exhaling) but not gluttony which is CLEARLY condemned in the scriptures along with adultery and fornication? I have never seen a congregation that wasn't at least 30% obese. This would be classified as some kind of idolatry to food?
Oh, and visiting tanning beds should be a DF'ing offense as they burn the flesh and also cause cancer and wrinkles.

I agree. The expose' of the Catholic Priest pedophile problem is such a coincidence/blessing. It could not have come at a better time. The GB is eagerly watching as the Catholic clergy are doing the best to report and clean up and pay damages. The world is watching this one, as it is far reaching due to their large numbers. Next, come the GB with finger-pointing, blaming, (remember they called elders, "untrained, unpaid volunteers"?), and covering up with excuses. They are showing their true colors and every day that goes by with no change only strengthens how wrong the policy and they are for being in denial.
It has been hard waiting for Dateline to run. I know, I told a judge about it over a year ago in regard to my case and I have looked like a fool due to it's long-time coming. However, it has been worth the wait and things may be rolling with the governments when, if exposed alone, the JW issue would not have had enough momentum to cause an effect.

she had choked and drowned her children to death, five in all.
Locally a few years back a woman started studying with the JW's and when she learned of the paradise awaiting them, she stabbed her son to death because he was autistic and she told the newspaper he would get a better life after the resurrection.
She continued studying, is in prison, and got baptized there. She is now a 'sister'.
How's that?
