  Who shuns you?

  after reading a number of posts it sounds like most of you have been shunned even by your immediate family members (parents, brothers, sisters)after you were df'd.. i am shunned by my sister-in-law - but she's it out of the entire family.

  my uncle, brothers, mother, and father (an elder before he passed away) all continued to associate with me - we even go out to dinners together.. so here's my question - is my family the minority?

  i thought that only non-family members had to shun you but family was ok as long as they don't discuss spiritual issues.

  My family and ex are teaching my children to shun me even though they are unbaptized minors.

  They also go above and beyond the call by not giving me forwarding addresses when they move, etc. Sure makes ME want to go back...

  Just for some of you who may not put your faith in numbers. I completely agree numbers are subject to many factors. But to enforce any kind of action, someone has to start somewhere. If the numbers are wrong, let the people who know prove it. The Catholic church is coming forward to some extent with their numbers and proposed solutions. No one in the ORG. has even stepped out of denial.

  For the record:
  I was molested by 2 elders. One admitted to his actions in court. The other has more than 2 witnesses against him at any given time. Neither are on the list in the file mentioned. Both fully deserve this honor.
  I have also personally known 2 other molesters who have been dealt with legally who do not exist in this file either. The file's accuracy is not the point. The numbers are a beginning point.

  For those who prefer denial due to nothing set in stone, that seems to be resorting to the 'head in the sand' complex we used to facilitate when needed to deal with problems as JW's.

  Lighten up. Bill has been honorable in all his intentions and dealings, has the WT?

  It unraveled like a cheap sock. 35 years of memorizing the formula for 1914 for nothing.

  I agree that the waiting for the Dateline airing has been slow and painful. I was contacted by them due to abuse of myself and dangers to my daughters and I, as much as anyone, will love a little vindication.

  I have to agree with Farkel though on a few points. They do know more than we do about current issues and how release of information in the media is to be handled. Yes, I have spoken to Mr. Greenburg.

  If the episode had aired any earlier, though, the Catholic scandal would have over shadowed the issue of the JW problem and it would have been forgotten. The R&F would have then claimed that Christendom's problems were much worse than their own and may have even taken credit for it being exposed. The way things are going, it is setting them up. They have had ample opportunity to set the record straight and come forward on their own accord. They know the episode is ready to go. They see the Catholic church dealing with the legal ramifications of their actions. They know the numbers and the score.

  Have they shown any humanity or Christian qualities they claim set them apart from Christendom? No. This will show them for what they are. Every day they don't come clean and step up to the plate, the hole they dig gets deeper and will be harder for the average JW to explain. Maybe more good will come of this than we are seeing.

  How Do You Deal With Telemarketers?

  jw's at your door are a nuisance, but so are telemarketers on the phone.

  how do you deal with them?.

  i sometimes say, "i'm very interested in what you have to say, but excuse me for just a minute, i have to go to the bathroom.".

  I do a little the same as Vi

  I just say, I have to run but could I have their home phone number so I can call them back later. They say, "I don't do business from my home." I say, "Neither do I." Period.

  How to defend against shunning

  we all know that for the most part, many of the people on this board would be shunned in the presence of a active witness.

  since this is a form of projecting negative energy, we should be aware of ways to counter these methods and protect ourselves from doubts and self destructive thoughts.

  perhaps you have lived this moment.

  I have a favorite I fall back on when I bump into one of the elite:

  I simply whisper, "I found out what they don't want you to know."
  Kind of sticks in the craw....

  p.s. there is still a small group who support me and know the wrong done. One of them came up to me and hugged me and whispered I Love You in my ear in full view. That's a friend.
