I enjoyed reading the thoughtful remarks regarding the historicity of samson V Hercules. I have pondered that myself and also wondered if it wasnt simply stuck in the book of judges post greek influance. The parallels are too great to dismiss. The account of jesus also compres in similar ways. Son of god, Saviour etc. Pauls use of tartarus, a previously unknown word and concept to jews, shiws just how much greek influance there was in biblical writings.

To echo bu2b, While i would have been first in line as a believer to bounce these clowns, just on principle, someone with a simple sign promoting jwfacts would have gotten my notice, at least a little. I would definatly have looked at it when i got a moment alone....

Im not a big bible believer anymore and the initial topic intrquied me, but it lost me from the first entry and im suspect it would many true believers as well. 20 million people alive in noahs day...? Its so difficult if not outright impossible to extroplate the imagiary population of an imaginary time period in human history thats its laughable to even try, but that number just struck me as an attempt to be sensational. When your grand total is only 25 million and your very first guess is a wild 20 million, the whole chart falls apart.

Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?
by Letts Party inso a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.
it had to do with missing meetings for work.
they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

Just to echo, it wasnt a marking talk and very likely it wasnt directed soley at you. Local needs are often discussed by the whole body and address more than just one person. Its not worth a local needs (in the eyes of most BOE's) to address one persons lackadaisical meeting attendance. They would rather talk to you informally. That BOE probably saw it as a larger issue, your just one of many. Lose no sleep :)
