Dear typer-ers, you're doing it wrong!
by Simon inthere are many things wrong with the world, many injustices and crimes committed.
what if we could stop one of them?
wouldn't it make the world a slightly better place?

Ted Jaracz and/or others?
by feenx inhappy new year to all :)
so i'm curious if anyone has further info/dirt on jaracz or any other gb members (former or current).
i know jaracz was publicly accused of molesting a young girl (now an adult).

He may have recently given some talk that stirred people up but that homosexual topic was a frequent one. When i first arrived and went through entrance school there was a whole lot of talk about not giving your roomate a message etc etc... As i say, it didnt start in the 90's by any means and im sure it still goes on now and im sure its still discussed and warned against.
In any event i dont mean to derail the original topic or subsequent bump/discussion, i was only offering my view point and experiance with sydlik when i was at brooklyn, that being he didnt seem to have any untoward interest in young brothers nor were their any rumors about him during my time there. Again this is not suggest that the account is false, only to say i have my doubts and would like more evidance or facts before accepting it as fact.

Very well could have been but i think thay was prior to the df'ings. Rumor had it every 10 or 15 years they 'cleaned house' house of homosexuals. It didnt start in the 90's and im sure it goes on now. In that enviornment, with so few women and NO approved outlet for normal sexual feelings, men turn whatever is around. It was very prison like in some respects.
*Just want to be clear here that im not in anyway opossed to homosexuals or whatever sexual orientation someone possess, im simply noting what i observed in my time at bethel and why that may be the case.

Sorry, i also should add that i know from my own time there that bethel in the early 90's was rampant with homosexual activity. My barber was df'd for it along with many others in a big brouhaha. Cleary it could have gone to the top, but dan just didnt seem to have a facination with the young men.... -

I never would want to discount someones account but i knew sydlik a bit and he never struck me as one who gave special attention to any of the young guys. It is fact that both greenleas and chitty were homosexual and on the gb and that they had had sexual relationships with bethelites. That has been covered in great detail on this site. They were both also dismissed very quietly from the gb. I would need some more information and some sort of additional verification before i could accept this account. It just dosent fit the profile of the person i knew, a very flawed bias i know. -

JW.org and recruitment
by Illuminated indo you believe the marketing of jay w org will convert more people or help inactive ones remain indoctrinated?
-
_Morpheus
And i agree with kate on this. The internet appeals because of its lack of personal human contact. It creats an allusion of interaction on boards like this, but its not at all the same as 'in person' contact. The org seems to like the idea that people can look at their beliefs in private and not have to explain to their neighbors who is visiting every week. They have said as much at recent CA in fact. But the problem kate points out is that what hooks people most often is not dubbie doctrine but the love bombing and social circle provided by the local congregation. Im not sure the translation is there from a non interactive website (meaning one that provides static information and not acrual human interaction) to getting butts in seats at the local hall.
I continue to think that j w o r g is 1) a response to people learning the truth about the truth and countering with their own side and 2) cost saving as they migrated from 'print to pdf'

How much real Integrity does the average JW have ?
by Phizzy inconsider the definition of integrity given below :.
" the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.. "a gentleman of complete integrity".

I think they have tons of integrity. Many would and have died as a result of adhering to the principles... The problem is its not principles they of themselves came to value for some well thought out reason. Its the principles the cult gave them that they hold as integral to their character and perhaps thats why you dont view them as principled, because its not an individual thing, its a group think. -

Nice thoughts and summary blondie.Am i the only one who caught the subtle trick they pulled in para 8? Note this quote:"More than 30 times, the laws found in Leviticus are credited to Jehovah. Moses acknowledged this and did what Jehovah commanded him to do. (Leviticus 8:4, 5) Likewise, we should always do what our Sovereign, Jehovah, wants us to do. In this regard, we have the support of God’s organization."They very directly equated obeying the organization with obeying the law given to moses, meaning the bible. This isnt new of course but its the subtle way they did it, very smoothly and sly so that the mind of a witness makes the associate between the two but its not startling enough to make them sit up and say 'woe wait a minite!'.In paragraph 13 we have this absolute spritual gem(!):"Our sacrifices of praise are personal offerings voluntarily made to God because we love him. (Matthew 22:37, 38) But we have been asked to report our activity in the ministry."Double speak at it best!!! Notice the implication of the first sentance.... 'You are on your own. We didnt ask you to do this. We arnt responsible for what you do or how you it or the laws you break while doing it". " Personal offerings" "voluntarily made". Then the next sentance undermines it all. "BUT" (and every witness knew there was a but comming) we have been asked to report our activity. Notice the implication.. 1) its expressly implied that there will definatly be activity since they didnt say "if you have activity". 2) because you are expected to report your activity you are of course being judged by what you report. Otherwise why put your name on it? Why not do it annomously?Farther down in para 13 notice the subtle tricky again played:" Jehovah’s precious servants who have certain limitations can still submit a report. "It is very directly linked that if you dont turn in a field service report you arnt precious. It is also very directly linked, via the precious sentances, that you report had better be substantial amd more than 15 min if you arnt in nursing home.Notice the guilt used in closong para 13:" So, then, is it really asking too much of us that we report our share in the preaching work"?Wow. Nobody ever said it was "too" much nor does the society in anyway address a concern of "too much". Rather we question why it is nessary at all. Why the god of heaven and earth who knows all NEEDS us to turn in a specific field service report with our names on it to know what we did. Perhaps that should have addressed and not some straw man about it being 'too much to ask'.There so much more subtle manipulation but it infiriates me to have to read this crap in order to dissect it. Credit blondie for being able to handle this week after week! -

In conjunction with WTwizard, paul (the model traviling brother the branch brags about) made it a point to say he WORKED to support himself. Why shouldnt a CO do the same....? -

There may be some confusion regarding caring for the CO and the resolution passed. Once a year there is a resolution passed by the congregation that send a suggested amount per publisher to the branch for the CO automobile insurance fund. That can be either a lump sum or broken down into 12 installments. of course the CO dosent a dime of that directly as it is billed as "car insurance" although i have no idea if thats where it actually goes or not once the branch gets it.
Then twice a year when the CO comes round he will often submit his "expenses" incured during his visit, including gas and misc food not provided by the congregation. Some congregations still pass a resolution to reimburse him for this as well although the BOE was sent a letter several years ago stating it wasnt nessary to pass a resolution on that each time he came to visit. That money does of course go directly to the CO, often in the form of a check. This is in addition to any gifts (green handshakes) he gets.
Hope this clarifies who gets what and for what :)
