My Mission is over!
by abiather inwhen i understood, jws are wrong in some vital areas [eg.
woman being viewed secondary, refusal to greet those differing with them ....], but right in other vital areas [such as their teaching that human rule is doomed, and will be replaced by gods rule], i began a diligent search for the right organization.
my search ended with brahmakumaris.

Ezekiel 25:17
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord... when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Why I became agnostic after leaving the Watchtower
by donny inone of many things that led me to agnosticism after leaving the jw's was the cognitive dissonance i encountered with those in the mainstream churches, especially the really conservative ones.
these types would scream out in protest (rightly so) on all of the current atrocities going on in the world regarding islam and its radical extremists, but then justify the savage murders and slaughter perpetuated by israel in the old testament.. often i would take these passages and replace the names and places of these scriptures with current ones.
for example 1 samuel 15:3 reads "now go, attack the amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them.

I dont want to derail donny's thread but im sick of hearing the 'jesus was a hippie' crowd. No he wasnt. He is portrayed as being more loving and kind than your average terrorist, i agree, but he still taugh death and destruction to those that didnt agree with him, including teaching fire and brimstone death in gehena.
Also to add my .02 to the idea that the desert god is "passive" i say, bull. Sh**. the desert god claims to have killed every man woman child and animal in the world once and uses that as an example and promise that he will do it again. Far from passive.

Flier on "Day and Week of Christ's Death" to be mailed out to Kingdom Halls this week!
by CharlieSmith1975 inthe tricky thing about a mass mailing to all the kingdom halls is that mail is often not delivered to the kingdom hall but to a po box.
it is super easy to get all the addresses to hundreds of kingdom halls across the country and even have those addresses printed out for you as labels!
but when i did that before i got about a third of them back.

While i agree its too long and i couldnt be bothered to read it all myself, it falls into the catagory of "if it floats your boat".
Have fun with it, but i wouldnt count on it being a huge turining point in organization history :)

Why don't some members of the congregations never slow down or get tired out?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy uncle passed away two years ago at the age of 83. he served as an elder from 1965 to the last day of his life.
even till the end of his life he was still reading the bible.. he was an elder for 48 years.
never missed a meeting, pioneered during the summer months ( took vacation weeks),pioneered after retiring at 65 years old, never went on real vacation, went to all summer conventions and assemblies ( traveling to new york, wisconsin, canada and california ).. he also conducted book studies, watchtower meetings, gave sunday public talks, assembly parts, elder meetings, had a weekly book study with his family, cleaned the kingdom hall, and donated money when the congregation was short money for the month.. everyone is zealous in the beginning but tire out sooner or later.

In those cases it usually is a case of what gamblers call "chasing money". When you start loosing you make bigger bigger bets to try to win your money back and it becomes a vicious cycle.
in the case of some witnesses it becomes that chase... Once they've invested decades it becomes nessary to believe more and work harder to make sure it wasnt all in vain.

Attacking the elders, can that bring down the cult??
by Crazyguy inthe borg has left out in the cold the victims of child molesters all to save their reputation and have used the elders to do their bidding in these evil works.
they have even made changes to their policies to put more of the responsibility on the elders.
so if the lawyers of these molestation victims which normally go after the money ie the borg were to also aggressively go after these elders in these cases could this not start a ripple effect where by elders find out and start resigning en mass to protect themselves knowing the borg not going to help them?.
