I still do, not in the automatonic way we were conditioned as 'Witnesses.' I am not an apologist for the WTBTS. Their error is glaring and great! The GB and their supporters will answer to God for their conduct. When I tell others about God and His purpose I do so in as non-preachy a way as possible. I make it clear to them about the cult mentality the Witnesses have. "Take the truth they have from the bible" I will say, "But, protect yourself from their cult like controlling ways." I use the bible only now, I wont place any of their literature and I won't advocate meeting attendance either.

we were continually urged to watch for "witnessing opportunities".. someone says, "i wonder if we'll ever get out of iraq", and you were supposed to say "that situation shows man's inability to rule.
do you think god will act to rescue mankind and assure good rulership?".

I much am happier since I took action to protect myself from the gross error of the GB/Organization.
My big concern is do we attribute the error of men to God? I think it would be a mistake for us to do that.

My answer is yes. I do believe the bulk of what I learned from the Witnesses is correct, but not everything. I pray regularly, read my bible and live my life according to most of the Witness teachings.

Could a JW pharmacist give out the morning after pill?
by Atilla inthis subject came to mind a few days ago when a saw a news article about a pharmacist working at a eckerd drug store in texas.
a woman came in for the morning after pill but the pharmacist who was very religious-not a dub-went in the back of the store and prayed about his situation.
he says that god told him that this wasn't ok, so he along with the other two pharmacists refused to give the pills to the woman.

I'm not pro abortion but I am PRO reasonableness. The 'make up the rules as we go' approach the GB has doesn't work, and in my opinion, it's primarily based on feelings/emotions and not consistent and hypocritical. So who knows how the GB will rule on this one.

Animals in the New System
by Bulldog inhas there been previous discussions on the nature of animals in the new system?
most people seem to think that the animals will suddenly become completely different than they are today.
lions and tigers will eat hay, not meat, etc, but if you think about animal natures and the perfect system that exists in the animal food chain, it doesn't make sense.. what would a horse be if it had no fear of predators?

Is the rank and file aware of the serious dilema the WTS is facing?
by fearnotruth22 inthe rank and file fears "apostates" hence jws will not accpet any evidence or arguments from succh like ones.
the mind set automatically rejects any charges against the wts without examining facts obejectivle because the wts cannot be wrong.by definition jws view the wts as god's agency, so it cannot be wrong and even if it is wrong, it is for a reason that god is allowing it and it is god's arrangement and not the business of the rank and file to judge for themselves on that but,to leave it in j's hand and in time it will be taken care of.
in law that is called a catch all, which is sometimes the power that a judge is empowered with by the state to use his discretion and do whatever the hell he wants, pardon the phrase.. it is true that the wts has opoosers that distort facts and trump up charges in order to discredit the wts, but false accustaions against thewts do not camcel out real evidence that challenges the wt and above and beyond wt teachings is the evidence that puts a differebnt spin on and shows another perspective of the bible, and the concept of god affecting in peoples lives.

But the terms spirutal acoording to wt definion means a jws who truly lives by all of the jw rules, and not one who lives a fcade and has and expresses "disloyal views" The preception of spirituality by the cong is of course puting on the show, regardless of what the individual does."

I think your right on the mark with this one. As angry as I get sometimes with the Witnesses, I remember being in this category. Well meaning and confused, constantly trying to reconcile the obvious errors with the human organization with the truth I've learned from the bible with them. After awhile I realized that having the truth about God and His purpose does not and will not prevent people from becoming a zealots. Ancient Israel had the truth about God and their religious leaders lead them to disaster.

I don't know if it's been covered here either, but even if it has, it's a good question.
It's one of many I would get 'looks' for. Like you, I see the food chain remaining as it has always been. Humans lost perfection not the animals. Human society changed not the animal kingdom. Their doing what they've always done and in my opinion will continue to do eternally. -

I think over time more and more will open their eyes.You can't fool everyone all the time. I could also see from my conversations with people before I left that there were two types of witnesses, one type were thinking people quietly going along with the program the other were the blind following zealots.

I forget the specifics of their defining it. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it until they reversed themselves (mid 80's I think). The statement that burned in my mind from the end of WT article was '...whatever circumstance the individual is now in, let him remain in it.' This was in response to having a stricter interpretation toward porniea, DF'ing and divorce. I remember reading it and going into a near rage because people had been df'd and divorced w/o just cause. They're retraction and the sanctioning of people 'remaining' where they were opened my eyes to how 'spirit directed' they weren't!
