  Adapting to Low Meeting Attendance

  more and more congregations seem to be adapting to low meeting attendance.

  bookstudies can be more difficult to hold in personal homes because, if everyone shows up at once, the house may not.

  i recall while i was just a new jw how horrified i was at the "brother" who was bringing me along.... when he told me that he was so sure about the governing body being jehovah's mouth piece, that if one day they announced--this is it, this is the end, kill any and all non-jws in your path....he would do it.

  The GB's/Organization's humanity was never lost to me, even at my 'most zealous,' so I did not follow them completely in my heart or my mind. The Theocratic (war) strategy taught at an 80's assembly really opened my eyes. My wife (now x) drank in every word (which really worried me)...Lying was now approved by the GB!

  hello i am new and this will probably be the last time i post.

  nice forum by the way but honestly and with all due respect it is not something i would like to be associated with.

  i joined saying "oh cool a jw forum" but after reading just 2 posts i realized it is the black veil all over again.

  I need advice quickly please

  about a few days ago i went to hand in my final paper at a university in manhattan.

  i won't go into details about the school because i want to keep it to a certain extent personal.

  there is this professor that is 38years old but he looks like he is 26 years old.

  downunder all the circuit overseers and district overseers are in bethel for a special 10 week-long school these past few weeks.

  riveting stuff is being discussed like watchtower prophecy!!!

  Interestingly, during the course, the C.O.s and D.O.s have been "encouraged" to keep their lives simple.

  The mood of the gathering however is that the Society has far from simplified their lives, but that their lives have never been more onerous and complicated! Never before have so much been expected of them, not have they had so busy a life!

  ' K eep their lives simple' means have nothing in your life except the work we give you!

  The GB says all the appropriate things then loads down every layer of the congregation with burdons!

  Hey, you have a life too. It takes time to put theses things together!

  The unkindness and cruelty at the KH led to my physical and spiritual problems. That is why I no longer attend.

  Who is taught to ignore whom? "Worldly" people are constantly presented as bad association, people to be avoided, by the WTS.

  As a servant of Jehovah (Christian?), expressing kindness to the extent possible

  (like the Samaritan?) will be beneficial?he might even become a praiser of Jehovah.

  Do you think that the WTS is realizing that the increase from door to door is drying up and that they have to get JWs to be "kind" to family, workmates, schoolmates, and neighbors to have any new JWs come in?

  That's an excellant question Blondie. I wouldn't be surprised.

  Remember, one of your Christian brothers or sisters will most likely call at that home in the near future

  (yeah, like they will be less irritated then!), put for special effort to show kindness.

  Tell me about it...I would often get blasted by someone who was treated badly at their door!!!

  Concluding Comments

  I will agree that kindness does not characterize JW congregations. In their desire to assure their own salvation and that of their families, they have little energy to show kindness to fellow JWs let alone people outside their congregations.

  The "reminders" here are ludicrous. Non-JWs understand and practice the principles of kindness espoused here by the WTS and without the constant reminders 5 times a week.

  The accounts on this DB from far and wide, urban and rural, of congregations that lack love in their dealings with each other, illustrate why the WTS seems compelled to state the obvious.

  Love your neighbor as yourself.

  i was reading a "bible teaching sheet" printed of the cbn website this morning.

  i went to look up a scripture they refered to, romans 3:34 in my father's black j.w.

  bible, and it was not there.

  Inspired by God does not mean written and comiled by God, now does it. The question as i see it is one of authority. Who says the Bible is inspired and what exactly is the Bible? As many know the bible was canonized by the Catholic Church AFTER the WT claims the Church became apostate. This is the inspired scripture or it is not, there can be no other possibilities. If it is than any changes to it are a corruption. If it is not, than what is? Who has the authority to declare scripture inspired? The king of England? A Catholic Monk? A Baptist Minister? Me or You? Can I cut and paste together a book and say this is it, this is the Bible lads?
