  Memorial Invitation

  just got a visit from 2 old friends.

  we talked about fun things we'd been doing lately and then they told me the reason they stopped by was to invite me to the memorial.

  It's the Witness arrogance that bothers me most. It's one thing to believe in something strongly it's quite another thing to look down on everyone who doesn't agree with you.

  joining the armed forces presents an inherent risk that one will die in combat.

  there is a historical account in the bible detailing huge losses for the israelite army, when they followed jehovah's direction.

  to set the scene - a group of homosexual men surround the house of an old man, asking him to bring out a lodger for sexual gratification.

  I believe the matter was handled poorly from the begining. They hadn't asked Jehovah how to handle it or to go up with them or to give them victory. Their questions to Him shown they were being self reliant instead of FULLY relying on Jehovah to instruct them and GIVE them the battle. Joshua made the same error in fighting with Ai...It's a good idea for us to check with our creator first in lifes matters, just to be sure we're on the same page with Him and to give Him the honor and respect do Him as God Almighty So to answer your question 'why' IMO He let them learn a HARD lesson.

  OUR VIEW OF THE "SLAVE"

  ...we cannot find the Scriptural guidance we need outside the "faithful and discreet slave" organization.

  The level of conceit the GB has is amazing. Always pointing out who they believe themselves to be...Funny, I don't remember Jesus blowing a horn a head of Him about being the Messiah!

  Is this true? I've always wanted a tattoo, but my mom, even after leaving the org still says tattooing is wrong. I am going to study up on this and see where It takes me.

  Yes, I just don't remember the article or year...sorry.

  Unfortunately, the reasoning that comes from those leading Jehovah's people today is 'even though we're not under the Law...we should live as though we were.' And the GB sets themselves up as the grand determiners of how the Law applies to Christians by creating principles that aren't there or using guilt ie. "Well Jehovah didn't approve of it then, why would He approve of it now?" or, "How do you think Jehovah feels about it?"...DON'T FALL FOR THIS! What was important to Jehovah for us obey AS CHRISTIANS, was re-emphasized in Acts chapter 15.

The bible is a unique book. The creator kindly inspired it in such a way that EVEN UNLETTERED MEN WITH LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES CAN TAKE IN ENOUGH KNOWLEGDE TO GAIN EVERLASTING LIFE.' (caps mine).

  This, IMO, is another example of disunity within the GB. I have seen correct and reasonable statements in the magazines before. One article years ago pointed out that tattooing was forbidden under the Law, but that we're no longer under the Law. So I believe there is at least one GB member who has his head screwed on straight. Also the application of the phrase "food at the proper time' I believe, has been greatly exaggerated to encompass absolutely everything that comes from the GB. I believe that Acts 15 is an example of what 'food at the proper time' really is. The endless rules that have been coming down from the GB for many decades is exactly what the Scribes and Pharisees did to the ancient Israelites...and we know how Jesus felt about them!

  But there is a theme that connects all three: the rank and file are not obeying and trusting the WTS/FDS/GB completely.

  I think you hit the heart of their problem here. It sounds like the rank and file are daring to think more and more on their own.

  I know it's a sore point with many...dates do matter. Times and Seasons matter. Its evident by honest observation 1914 was a turning point in mankinds history and I do believe it marked the begining of the 'pangs of distress'.
