i remember at the age of 14, i was studying with a very well respected elder in the congregation.
me, him, and my dad studied together.
every once in a while during the study, he would turn to me and ask me "have you dedicated your life to jehovah?".
Yeah I did, and then fell away about a year later, I was in my early twenties.
I had no idea they would baptise children as young as 8 years old. That's rediculous, surely it's something that should be discouraged until early adulthood? Perhaps they are too desparate for converts and the boost in figures to consider the ability of a child to make a lifelong decision such as baptism is supposed to be. Just my opinion.
clearly, anyone reading this watchtower society response to a "frequently asked question" on their jw-media site would conclude that jehovah's witnesses fully accept that god will spare non-jws through armageddon and grant them salvation.
all that one has to do is take a "stand for truth and righteousness" before god's time of judgment.
therefore, as former-jws, hence also non-jws, we have absolutely taken a stand for "truth and righteousness" such as exposing the criminal behavour of the watchtower leadership and their policies, such as their program that acts to protect jw child molesters.
I was going to try to email them about it and checked the web site, surprise surprise, they don't use email.
seeing as how us brits are so acclaimed across the world, ie, the the beloved of the french.
some of these sit-coms do actually exist, btw.
how do you rate the one's that are real?.
I miss the Britcoms since I moved away. We do get some here but not many.

my brother, who is an active jw and ministerial servant, has an elder friend who was recently disfellowshipped for having an affair with another sister in the hall.
it turns out this sister was divorced a few years earlier from a "worldly" man who had an affair on her.
When I was a JW one of the Elders 'fell in love' with me. I did nothing to encourage him (he was 60+ and I was 22 lol). In the end his wife complained to the other Elders that he was spending too much time digging my bloody garden (lol) and he had to admit to having 'feelings' for me (gag) and was asked to step down, which he did.
i carry a few extra pounds but i generally don't overeat.
however, i enjoy a good meal.
but, the organization that says, "let us not judge others" is giving it's members free reign to judge those who are overweight (in the judger's eyes).

Those tests are a joke, to get a decent test online you have to pay for it or better yet go and get tested properly. I've got Borderline PD traits and run an online community focussed on recovery. It's no fun and it's hard work to recover but it's so worth it. If anyone wants to know anything about borderline personality disorder I'll try my best to answer.

Shamus - I agree with you - ppl in immediate danger of suicide need to get help immediately through the right channels. I posted that link because it is really helpful and validating and it gives ppl a chance to think about the pain outweighing the resources.

i tend to believe that god does hear prayers, he can ansure them in other planes of time that we don't understand and that we will be in latter in our life or possibly in some other dimension.
i do not think he gives us dead air space after we speak to him.
our request have far reaching implications for us beyond what can understand in our time line that we are living presently.
