Everything. I was 20 the first time I went to a concert. So far I've seen Cradle of Filth and have tickets to Projekt Revolution with about 10+ bands. I've also seen some smaller concerts locally D.O.A., Cancerbats and local metal acts.

I've been studying with JW's for a few months..
by MichaelM ini've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.
i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .
but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

A very typical JW line to say that Satan will try to stop you from learning..just think it's a catch 22. If Satan tries to stop you it means they're right...but if no one causes you to doubt them it also means they have the truth? Ask him what would happen if it wasn't the truth.

Why do witnesses intentionally avoid having kids?
by NotaNess in1) don't want to deal with it at meetings is what i think would be on the top of the list.they see what others have to go through.. 2) i know a married couple jws, that are avoiding having kids, and i've heard of reasons from them like.... "don't want to raise them up in this system".
"time is too short".
"i'll wait until the next system of things".

The Wrath of God visits the small village of Nyos
by daystar inand it came to pass that the teacher entered the small village of nyos.
the people of nyos were idolators and worshippers of false gods and had no love for the true god.
and so the teacher spoke with the village elders and its holy men to teach them of the one true god, but they would not hear.. and the people of nyos continued in their evil ways as adulterers, liars, thieves and murderers.

Fascinating. I've never heard of something like that occurring before and it certainly lends itself well to the supernatural especially in the days before advanced scientitifc instrumentation.

Not too long, not to short, human interest, legible, written simply and understandably.
Posts I avoid: overly dogmatic, doctrinally heavy, length resembling a novel, lack of paragraphs, illogical argument

As far as legal advice if there is a law library near you often law students will go there to study and many times there are sort of unofficial legal advising groups that form around the law library that may be able to advise you on how to find some reasonably priced legal muscle.

Satanists- What do you believe they are about? This Thread isn't demonized;)
by eclipse ini will not give multiple choice answers to choose from, since there is a wide variety of beliefs out there, .
so anyone who has an opinion and would like to share it, i welcome your thoughts.

Those who I know ascribe to beliefs that embrace the range of human desire such as lust without condemning them as sins outright. They seek not to harm other people or animals (despite all the negative publicity that links some satanists to animal or infant sacrifice rituals). Satan is seen typically not as a spiritual figure in opposition to god but more as representative of humanity. Overall it's a very interesting philosophy and I found LaVey's Satanic Bible to be intriguing. Not precisely what I am looking for but certainly not the "evil" some would make it out to be. There is a pretty good section about LaVey in Marilyn Manson's autobiography as well (Long Hard Road out of Hell).

The Wave: A short movie about mind control
by neverendingjourney inthis is a very good short movie about how mind control works.
it's based on a true story of a high school teacher that started his own cultish student organization modeled after the nazis.
it's very easy to see the parallels with jws.

It's based on the book by Tood Strasser. A very interesting read. I think it may have been required reading in school or at the very least it was in our class library. I found it pretty fascinating when I was growing up, though I totally missed all the JW parallels.
