If I had no family ties I would have done just that.

Why act ashamed?
by CruithneLaLuna inreading about people's "fades," i was just thinking: what would happen if someone who was still regularly attending meetings took the opportunity, in handling an assigned part (ministry school talk?
), to announce briefly that they had spent several months investigating the wts's claims and had come to the conclusion that their conscience, and a course of personal and spiritual integrity, required them to leave the organization.
"so i am taking this opportunity to say goodbye, and that i hope that many of you will follow my example in undertaking an honest and open-minded re-evaluation of your faith.

What Makes You Read & Post On This Site?
by minimus inonce again, there's a lot of new people on this board as well as us "oldsters".
what was the original reason for you looking at this site and why did you make your first post?
and why do you stay here?

My father thought I had an account here since I already knew of most of the other "apostate" websites, which he realized in conversation with me. So then I had to register, ferret out his screename, impress him with the knowledge, and then post. And I've stayed here since because I like to be able to express my opinion on topics without having to give someone (JW) background information for them to understand what I say or having to change some of my words to make sense.

New Light-----1986----The International Year Of Peace Fulfilled???
by minimus inthey're saying the prophecy is possibly fulfilled of "peace and security and then sudden destruction" in the year 1986 when world leaders dubbed that year as the "year of peace".
the feb.1st watchtower mentions that just as a pregnant woman over 9 months gradually has signs of a baby's growth in the womb, so too, we may have a fulfillment of bible prophecy without knowing it fully beforehand until the effects and results become obvious.
my mother read excerpts of the wt.

Can't say as I remember this first hand but I remember mom mentioning it to me when nothing happened after 9/11 and everyone had been speculating. Told me that it was in God's time not ours etc etc.

All this talk about nasty apostates coming in and mixing with them makes me want to get a suit, and see if anyone notices I'm not a guy whilst mingling.

The worse thing I ever saw done on a message board, this is bad!
by spiritwalker inonce, i attended another message board for awhile, a few years ago.
i did not post a lot, as that boards topic did not interest me much and i could just read and enjoy the conversation without interaction.
while there, i witnessed what can only be described as, "the worse thing i have ever seen on a message board.".

What people do on the internet is no different than in life. Some people lie, some people are honest. Your example reminds me a lot of Jon on the latest survivor, anyone who watched it will remember the faked 'my grandmother just died' incident which he pre-meditated and pulled on the other castaways. That being said I think that the internet is a great place to get support and it would be terrible if a few bad experiences tarnished that for everyone.

11/11 It just goes to show you what years of indoctrinization can do to a person. You can stop believing but you still remember.

Being a pagan I'll take energy over prayer any day. Though I've been known to accept prayers too.
I feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop or something, not really sure what she's going to do or say or react.

I thought I'd update. Today we got back from holidays and I decided to tell mom I'm gay. Dad got her to stop packing and sit down long enough to talk to her and I told her. Can't say as I ever predicted that reaction. I've shocked a few people before but never quite to the extent of total deadpan, which is what it was. No emotion, nothing. I got the usual questions, the how do you know, are you in a relationship type. And the usual rebuttals, the you're too young to know, the media has corrupted your opinion type. After which she said she didn't want to talk about it anymore and walked out. She bustled around doing chores for a while and is now watching tv. Leaving me to wonder exactly what the hell just happened and is going to happen.
Today also marking the death knell of my days with the Watchtower. Expect another bout of fun later when she tries to get me to do the bible reading or go to the Tuesday meeting. I'm hoping nothing will have to be said and her comment about "giving up my entire future" was code speak for "screwing yourself over by leaving the Watchtower".
I would say more but I really haven't a clue what is going on right now.

I believe in creation, I think they still believe in that. And I believe in a higher power..but certainly not in the JW form. Other than that the golden rule in the form of 'an it harm none do what ye will', and that's about it. Add another to the Pagan tally for this topic.
