The problem is that unless the person has doubts themselves the dub training just causes their minds to shut down when faced with serious questions. If you bring up issues like that it might also cause then to feel they need to shun you to protect their spiritual health.

I need some help
by New Castles ini have been reading and posting (sometimes) for about 7 months and am very grateful to have found a community that understand what i have been going through.
i have been fading for a little over a year now, and have a sudden urge to speak out about how i feel and what wts is doing.
i have tried this in the past with some family, including my wife, who is no longer with me, for the same reason....i have also spoken to my brother and mother.

Welcome to the forums cabbagefun. I find a lot of political satire can be hillarious especially with some of the ridiculous topics that are taken seriously in the media.

Why so many handshakes?
by JH inthe first thing that struck me when i entered a kh for the first time, was the staggering numbers of handshakes being given here and there.
it was as if they didn't see each other since months or years.
in fact they were together just a few hours earlier in the service.

Handshakes here are just a visitor thing really..like the brother coming to give the talk or friends from out of town. Or *gasp* those inactive ones that just need to be encouraged.

favourite games to play as a child during boring meetings
by Surfacing inmy parents were both very strict, and i wasn't allowed any toys at the hall.
my rations included a copy of my book of bible stories, and a pen and note pad.
my parents were strict to the point of not allowing me to draw pictures, i had to "take notes".

Someone already mentioned my FUN GAME! We got to mark down a mark each time Jehovah, Jesus, whatever was said.
I *know* that was a suggestion given in countless talks. I think that is the officially acceptable children's game. And yes parents who let their kids have more stuff were looked down upon.
Too bad we couldn't make this into a drinking game.
Back seats. Row of apostates. Flasks.

Do you have "cold sweats"?
by onacruse inover the last 2 years, especially early on, as i was "forced" to finally face the facts about my life-long religion, i had many a nightmare, waking up in a cold sweat, fearing that i'd lost my hope for everlasting life, fearing that armageddon was just around the corner, wondering if i'd made the right decisions.. perhaps the worst of all was walking away from the bible, insofar as it being carte blanche "word of god.
" then, of course, comes along the idea of the ransom, etc...'reject jesus, and you've rejected life.'.
i'd be lying to say that, even now, i don't still have some little nigglings that make me wonder.. however, the days of the "cold sweat" are long gone.. you?.

Once I pulled down the house of cards I saw no reason to be afraid of anything they have to say about anything anymore. No fears of their teachings here.

Wacky Watchtower quotes for Lurkers
by gumby inso dubbies.......do you really believe your dedication is to jehovah .....or to the society?.
...the witnesses are dedicated to god not to any legal agency.... .
...the legal corporation and "the faithful and discreet slave" are not interchangeable terms.

WTS and showering with the boys!
by ozziepost inon the wts site is an article entitled: "should i get a tattoo?
" and the guilts are everywhere in this article!
it doesn't take too much intelligence to work out early on what the wts' stance on tattoos is, not that it seems to have much to do with "freedom in christ".

I dont know where you are in Canada but tattoos are still taboo here. I got a spray on tattoo one day of a dragon..mom didnt like the idea that it was a dragon and couldnt believe I would go do that. I put a temporary tattoo on recently too and was told I was too old for that sort of thing and she couldnt believe it
