my last update on my daughter was so good...but it didn't turn out that way.
she was cleared to go back to work, but with limitations... she couldn't lift more than 10 pounds.
her employer wanted her back but wouldn't agree to the lifting restriction.
Just want to add my support to this thread.
Take good care.

i've been trying for some time to find the motiviation i needed to completely leave the cult behind.
i'm mean, do it emotionally as well as mentally (whole-souled, right?
), despite still having a lot of family and friends that are cult members.

the instinct which creates the arts is not the same as that which produces art.
the creative instinct is, in its final analysis and in its simplest terms, an enormous extra vitality, a super-energy, born inexplicably in an individual, a vitality great beyond all the needs of his own living an energy which no single life can consume.
this energy consumes itself then in creating more life, in the form of music, painting, writing, or whatever is its most natural medium of expression.
cc,
Thanks for the link and extra info. I look forward to reading it!

after publishing her best seller book, outofthecocoon, brenda lee is back again, this time with a powerful, eye-catchting youtube video on wts.
what is your reaction after viewing it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfdirpdbqgw&feature=related.
I haven't seen the video (or have the desire to watch it), but one thing I'm more aware of now than ever is the repressed creative spirit many of us suffered as JWs. We were not allowed to have creative outlets, or a unique voice outside the JW collective. Women, especially, who wanted to spice up a demo or school part always walked the thin line of being counseled for having too much fun. Creative expression and personal voice = same thing?
When people leave the JW world and process their experiences through writing and creating things (activism, making videos, satiring WT covers, creating Web sites, blogs, tshirts, etc.), I believe there's a hugely cathartic thing going on in this expression.
Many of us are finding our voice for the first time while coping with very repressed parts of ourselves (think born-ins) and keeping sane through the anger and bitterness sometimes through humor. Brenda most likely combines a few of these things in the production of her books and videos, with lots of pent-up creative energy that many of us appreciate and have in common.

i've returned to work, and, at the request of my long-suffering boss, am taking it slow and easy.. he has just put on a pot of joe; the aroma is overpowering.. one of my earliest memories is getting up around 5 am to share a morning cup with my papa.. i must have been around 2 or 3 at the time, because my parents separated when i was going on 4.. papa taught me to read from the maxwell house coffee can, having me read the words, good to the last drop to him each morning.. whenever i get a whiff of coffee brewing, i am taken back to those long-ago mornings in a lamplit cabin, sitting on my father's knee, sipping coffee and reading to him, basking in the glow of his praise and love.

syl.
snowbird,
I love the smell of freshly-brewed coffee. Even better when it's a little bit nippy (cold) in the air. Holding a warm mug and smelling that great aroma is intoxicating!

and if so, would that prove an existence of evil-spirits (demons)?.
i have heard of a couple of stories of possession, or of jw's talking to spiritists and the spiritists having seen 2 men following the jw, either dressed all in black, or all in white, and very strong looking.
yet, i have never experienced any of it.. another experience that i heard is about a brother whose mom had super-natural strength, and tossed something really heavy.
Hi ALIAS...yes I saw them.
Just the thought of that happening gives me goosebumps! I've had dreams with supernatural things happening and went to some popular haunts around the US, but have yet to experience something -- I'm very open-minded though.
Energy and the unknown fascinates me.

when i used to pioneer i would press to the side of the doorbell and act like i pressed it and then say "oh i think the bell must be broken".
No, but I was always relieved when nobody answered and it was my turn to talk.
this has probably been discussed here before, but i'm new so sue me.. i think the religion of jehovah's witnesses has been an amazing but tragic social experiment proving that the mind is most vulnerable to brainwashing when it's in an unhealthy state.
it seems to attract the bipolar, schizophrenic, depressive, and the paranoid.
it preys on negative emotions like sorrow and fear.
