Everyone on this board could very well be annointed and not know it yet? If anyone asks me, I'm annointed.

Man, I just had one of these and they are totally disgusting. I don't think I was missing anything. I always remember this one pioneer sister saying how she loved this one kind of holiday candy and how she had to give it up so she wouldn't stumble anyone. How pathetic but noble.

I should take Sunday school classes
by Atilla intonight on the history channel i was watching a program about the book of revelation.
due to my wt backgrounds, i was told that the apostle john wrote this book, and had always assumed this to be true.
apparently there is great controversy in the scholary world as to who exactly wrote revelation with many thelogians saying point blank that some one, another john, but not the apostle who wrote the gospel account of john, wrote the book of revelation.

Tonight on the History channel I was watching a program about the book of Revelation. Due to my WT backgrounds, I was told that the apostle John wrote this book, and had always assumed this to be true. What I now know for sure is much less. Apparently there is great controversy in the scholary world as to who exactly wrote Revelation with many thelogians saying point blank that some one, another John, but not the apostle who wrote the gospel account of John, wrote the book of Revelation. The show concluded by saying we may never really know who wrote the book because more evidence hasn't been find yet or simply doesn't exist. To think, a book that dubs use very heavily for their grip on power and authority, and we don't even know what crazy homeless guy/woman wrote it? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Being a JW, I always thought that I had such a good concept of Bible material but now I realize that even basic concepts elude me. Not that I care, I don't really believe in the Bible or any religion for that matter. I guess I need to take some in depth theological courses one day to round out my education. I think the reason that myself and other dubs didn't get a very good Bible education is because we were always so focused on in depth dogma and we missed the simple stuff. Even when I would do talks and focus on individual Bible characters, I would maybe focus on the guy for a minute and then think of some way to parallel that ancient guys life into the modern day JW life. That was always the motivation, think of some way we tie this Bible character into the preaching work or our so called persecution. Hell, and that's why I can't remember hardly any Bible characters but why I can tell you all about JW rules and beliefs. Unbelievable, I didn't even get a good Bible education for all those years being a dub, nothing to show for.

Sports and JW's (allowing kids to play)
by confusedjw inwhat are people's experiences here of jw's who let their kids play sports and the consequences for them?.
for instance did you know any kids who played little league or high school football or basketball?.
any canadiens who allowed their children to play hockey at any of the levels?.

Atilla
Yep, I missed the sports train myself. I always remember loving gym class so much because it was the closest thing I got to organized sports. If I would have been allowed, I don't think I would have joined the football team(I always thought those guys were a bunch of jocks) but soccer and tennis would have been really cool. Maybe a little basketball but hey I'm not really strong or anything. Good thing I'm super skinny but I could see where not being involved in any sports could be very detrimental to your short and long term health. Even to this day, sports really don't interest me and it's because I repressed the desire for so long. Those WT bastards, when I was there I noticed they had all kinds of sporting equipment and courts for the bethelites, it's a wonder they even know how to use them.

Would You Care If You Got Disfellowshipped At This Point In Time?
by minimus injust wondering....

They know they can't touch me, we have a deal for now. I'm invincible but still must use caution. I may start testing the boundaries soon. But no, I don't really care if I get DF'd except for the fact that my parents won't be able to talk to me, they told me so themselves.

Adventures in counting time...or how to waste the entire day in service...
by TresHappy inmy jw friend was telling me the other day how many of her fellow jw's lie on their time reports...i jokingly said "doesn't everyone?
"..to which she replied...probably.
there were myriads of ways that are universal, but what about the unique ways in which you reached your goal?

Rounding off is very effective. Also, it wouldn't really make sense to get return visits that are right beside each other. Instead, you should get one and then drive the whole way to the other end of the county for another one even though you know they aren't home and you also have their telephone number as well.

Can't say I was put on restrictions but wish I would have been, darn why didn't I do something really bad. Getting in trouble may have sped up the process of leaving by showing me how ridiculous it was to let others control your life.

Dear Pioneer Couple:
by Atilla inmy parents became dubs in the late 70's, after the 1975 debacle.
admitedly, my mom did have one dub relative on her side of the family but the main reason my parents became dubs was because of one influential and convincing pioneer couple who studied with them.
i know we are all mostly victims of victims but often i think of what if, what if that pioneer couple had never studied with my parents, perhaps i would have had a much better childhood and a better start to my adulthood.

I think I will send the letter because I hate silence. Deafening silence is all I hear now and I hate the idea that they think they are better than me. I know you can't change what people think of you but I hate the idea that many of my former JW friends may think oh, he probably still believes yet is too weak to come back. This is what I detest.
