Adam was perfect,...Right?
by prophecor inmy wife and i were discussing adam being a perfect creation of god.
we as jw's, have always associated adam with being such, but she tosses me a curveball and does not necessairily agree to the standard jw theology.
she believes that had adam been perfect, the sins of the fathers would never have been visited upon his children, we would never have been locked out of paradise and all the ills of this world would never have been an issue.

Hats Off in the House !!!
by prophecor incall me crazy or what, but theres a recurring issue that i have regarding my son's wish to wear his hat in the house.
i've never been certain regarding the reason men were to remove their hats when petitioning the almighty, the issue of headship and being respectful of it and the common custom in the west for a man to remove the hat upon entering one's home or church.
even in the military during basic training, the issue with regard to hats was a predominating theme, to the degree that we were taught that at the instant your head was no longer covered by a building of some sort, your hat was to be immediately placed upon your head, but once open sky no longer covered your head and you walked into a building of any type, that hat was to be removed !!

Being JW and Psychiatry
by prophecor inin looking at so many post over time, i've come to the conclusion that so many of us as witnesses, seemingly have a predisposition towards emotional disorders and mental illness.
just reading some of the post on suicide, i get the feeling that there is some subtle force that exhibits itself in the teaching in the kh that can have a tendency to draw this kind of energy out of someone.
i couldn't see it while on the inside, now that i'm out ,however, i can see things so much differently.

I'm on the Outside Looking In
by prophecor inbefore baptism, outsiders are never viewed as having quite made the grade of fully fledged brotherhood, in fact, when greeted in the kingdom hall, many of us, especially if not raised in " the truth", were often made to know this fact merely by the words we were greeted with, or how we were acknowledged in meetings, for instance, when commenting at the watchtower study.
"mr anderson" as opposed to "brother mitchell", was to me a sense of arrogance to be tolerated until having made the final cut from intrested person to non-baptized publisher to baptismal candidate and finally baptized brother.
are these word games that can be associated with cultlike phenomenom, that of being jw and the status received after baptism?

Jay-Hovah uh-huh / uh-huh
by prophecor indoes anyone know what the deal is with rapper sean carter, aka jay-z and his refering to himself as jay-hovah?
its a pretty close call naming yourself such by jw standards possibly bordering on blasphemy.
does anyone know if he may've been associated with jw's at some time, and if he was, whether his choosing of the name might be a response to his no longer believing the teachings of jws?

Killing of JW Postal Worker
by prophecor inreading the thread about the jw postal worker killed, made me think long and hard about the truthfulness of what cipic was stating, that the society allows for ones to work in the post office but frowns upon driving a truck for a major company like coca-cola, because the possibility that one may have a route that goes to a military base for instance.
or maybe to a strip club for that matter, i mean the possibilities are almost endless.
what kind of guidelines do they use in such cases?

Raised in the Truth vs. New Converts
by prophecor inwhile viewing many of your experiences here, its strange to hear the problems that have resulted from many of you being in " the truth ".
i'm speaking with regard to those who've been in most of their lives and have never really known much else.
when i finally came in i had spent a majority of my life, doing the things of the world.

Dating While a Witness
by prophecor ini'd come into the truth late in my life and alone.
i was the only one in my family who persued being a witness.it was always my desire to be married.
some of the ideology surrounding worthwhile competent brothers would often make its way to the pages of the awake magazine in the form of questioning a brothers motivation, even his character when a prospective brother might approach a sister.. now much of my feelings were probably due to my own guilt and insecurity regarding my struggling while in the truth.

Contraband
by prophecor ini've always enjoyed the subtle, soothing sound of the wind chime, being in the organization however requires one to forsake such items because of their origin.
it has been linked to the ancients as a means of keeping away evil spirits.. upon leaving the organization, one of the first things i picked up upon was a wind chime.
i enjoy listening to its melodious tune when the wind blows in our back yard.
