  What does property cost where you live?

  i just saw on tv that a 3 bedroom detached property with swimming pool in florida costs the exact same as my 2 bedroom apartment on the coast in england.

  i was totally suprised by this.

  as there are quite a few american posters here, i am curious as to housing costs in other areas.

  I moved from the SF Bay Area...in a very popular east bay location near public trans, great shopping .... in between the city and traditional suburbs....North Oakland, one of the lower priced but still attractive areas.

  A home of approx 2000 sq. feet, very small yard, 3 BR, 2BA craftsman style cottage, no garage or off street parking sells for at least $600K. 2BRs go for over $400K.

  In my move to Portland I thought things would be less, but I selected a fairly trendy neighborhood (Pearl) where condos/flats which are very small (800-1200 sq feet) sell for between $400-600K. I am told you can find nice homes for much less. Needless to say I will look carefully before deciding to buy!

  Of course, SF is one of the most expensive areas to live with prices holding very strong even with the roller coaster ride going on in Calif.

  today i had an interesting conversation, not with a christian believer but a muslim believer, .

  he was trying to recruit me into the faith--so i thought i would pose the question to him about why his god watches as 20,000 believers (muslims) women, children, etc lost thier lives-.

  his explanation i thought was straight out of a christian handbook on.

  sounds similar to the tenets adhered to today in many Islamic nations, where women can be shunned, severely punished and even put to death for being raped or when pregnant as a result of rape...being viewed as the seducer or if they are unmarried.

  ok, granted i am a newly-transplanted californian to portland....so maybe not a big deal to most.. but i'm told this is unusual for portland....snow has been falling all morning, there are about 3 inches now...it is a soft, feathery dry snow.

  i've already been for a few walks ... it is so quiet and muted out especially for a city.

  people are out walking (can't drive!

  Up to 6" in downtown Portland now! It calmed down for a couple of hours but now is really coming down again!

  Snow-person taller than me constructed and in place....

  The more they can isolate their members, insinuate their teachings into every aspect of life, the more power to manipulate and blind them.
