The coldness of Watchtowerism thread
by Brummie inwhen my dad died on november 9th none of my jw family turned to comfort my mother, no phone calls no cards no words of comfort.
its over a month now and still they havent made any contact.
it doesnt really matter since they are all jws on my moms side but dads side of the family are catholic so they were all there to give the strength needed to cope.

Do you believe in Soul Mates?

I don't know that I would necessarily call it soul mates but there is definately something out there than is stronger than just a human connection. I don't believe that it is possible to receive that kind of connection with just anyone. I think that in these days it seems to be nearly impossible to find someone that you can totally connect with on every level but it is still possible. I also think that you have to want the relationship just as much as the other person. Marriage is not a 50/50 compromise, it's 100/100, all the time. My fiancee and I have an amazing relationship that I wish everyone in the world could experience. Maybe if they did it would be a better place. We still have fights and arguements, everyone does, but 99% of the time we can laugh about them within minutes. We are totally content just being with one another. It is just undescribable how much different this is than anything I have ever experienced. So in a way, I guess I do believe in soul mates but I also think that it takes work from both partners.

the company went broke and the gov.

well that is good news. I am happy to hear that. it's rough these days and it really scares me to think of what it will be like when i am older. i try to invest as much as possible and as wisely as possible now but you just never know. if anyone has an absolute solid retire as a millionaire plan please let me know!!!

I think that it was nice of them to at least make an effort but I understand it must be very hard to deal with. My fiancee (freelife) has tried many times to explain the whole shunning and "worldy" thing to me but I just don't get it. I have a feeling when we get married in May none of his family will be there nor will they even send so much as a card. It's hard for me to understand how people can break ties so close to home. I guess all the brainwashing and repeated shunning of people who venture into the world just convinces them that they will somehow be contaminated. I wish you the best!! And congratulations!!

Need to vent about my job!!
by smurfy ini work at a bank doing processing, underwritine, inputting, closing, signing and anything else related to mortgage or home equity lines of credit.
as we all know the rates have been incredibly low for the past 2 years.
last year the bank more than took care of me with my raise and my bonus.

Very sorry to hear that. You may want to check with your local library. Some of them have internet that provides an hour a day a month for free. Also try Netzero or Juno. Hopefully the news in Feb. will be better than expected though.
