by sunshineToo inmy husband and i have been house hunting, and i have to tell ya.
it's a jungle out there.
it's like a house is a prey, and all the buyers are wild beasts.

Question about Judical committees
by scrubmaster inif a committed has been formed for an allegation of serious sin and the person does not agree with the charge is there anything the person can do to let the elders now they do not agree with the charge and if the person is not happy with the three elders choosen for the committee is there anything that can be done before the first meeting.
also a side point, this same person presented evidence of their scriptural freedom just like the society's said is required, the elders had to deliberate over this information even though it was present just as the society stated, my friend went ahead and got married and now all of a sudden the previous information was put on the back burner and my wife and friend now face a judical committee for adultery.
is this the way elders all ways handle cases, they throw out any information which made be in the person's favor and go right for what can be found written in black and white so they do not have to think?

We also know how man can not sometimes resist pillow talk -- Some people feel it is fun to put other peoples business out there for all to hear. Remember for some strange reason people like to talk about the bad things people do -- but when a person is doing well under difficult circumstances -- they forget to run around and praise this person

What Motivates You to Expose the "Truth About the Troof" to Active JW's?
by imallgrowedup inwhile responding to another thread, i was thinking about how so many of us talk about trying to help "believing dubs" out from the clutches of the wt, while at the same time, it occurred to me that we probably all have different motivations for doing so.
as for me, i am motivated to get my parents out because i think they have the right to know "the whole story" - not just the candy-coated version the wt espouses, so they can make better decisions about how they want to live the rest of their lives.
right now the wt makes all their life decisions for them - including whether or not they should look at what the "other side" has to say about them.

I just want people to know that it is Jehovah God we serve and not men. I will not push my opinion on people who leave the organization, but to see people stop believing in Jehovah God saddens me. There has to be a supreme being, I believe the bible is his gift to us. I also want people to realize to not let the actions of men keep them from having a relationship with God. It is he in the end who will judge us and read out hearts. So I just want people to realize that if a principle can not be proven from the bible, then it is up to the individual before God if they want to follow it or not.

Why would your wife and friend be in a committee for adultery??
Because they did not wait for the word from the elders that the information presented was good enough for my friend to be scripturally free.

Remember this is a friend we are talking about not me -- just to make it official I already told the elder I am sure the decision has already be made......

Do you think that JW's will ever get rid of the 1914-doctrine?
by jads inafter awhile the jw's will have to do something about 1914 when it crumbles right before them.
how long can they hold onto this russell-invented doctrine?

There is no need to get rid of the date -- just change the meaing of generation and that takes care of that -- think about it

Even if there is scriptural proof of adultery, the judicial committee has to rule on it first (as well as any other congregation elder body involved).
They had delbrated on it for about 2 weeks and still had not come to an answer, but when it came time to form a committee for the alleged adultery -- it did not take any time to form the committee for this matter. Because this is something where they do not have to think it is written in the flock book in black and white.
