I would have to say that this is setting up the Rank and file for the change that the 144,000 is not a literal number. Even though it could not have been in the first place. I have a hard time believing that there was not 144,000 Faithful ones from the time Christ died until now. I even had this dicussion with my wife. Also does any one remember a question from readers were they accidently made reference to 100,000 of Thousands of first centuries Christians dying and then they had to retract that because that was the case, the 144,000 would have be completed filled in the 1st century.

Why the number of "anointed" will never decrease...
by dozy injw theology suggests that the work of gathering in the "144,000" has all but ended , particularly since 1935 , and that the number will inevitably diminish to nil.
indeed , some jws maintain that all the anointed will have died and resurrected before armageddon arrives.
the watchtower claims that the fact (?

That is one thing I have always wonder about and I mention it to my wife, I find it hard to believe that 144,000 or a great deal would have come from tjhe Christians in the first century. Just by looking at some groups of people who were baptised in the scriputures during Christian times not to mention the scriptures said that if everything Jesus did could not be written in the scriptures, so one would have to believe that they should only be a few anointed left on the earth today

Please explain how disfellowshipping is a loving gesture
by McKafka99 incan someone please outline the rationale and scriptures used to support the idea that disfellowshipping is a loving gesture?
i am trying to understand how this behavior is justified, when in my mind in seems a simple matter; one only needs ask oneself, 'if jesus (or jehovah) were standing next to you, would jesus (or jehovah), support any shunning-type actions?
' i find it very difficult that the answer would ever be 'yes'.

My problem in and if itself is not with the disfellowshiping, it is how it is done. Less face facts, most if not all organizations have some way of punishing people who do not follow the rules. Some of these are gangs, clubs, government and faternities. WE all know this to be fact. For instance if a person committs a crime is this country or any or most countries they can be fine throw in Jail(solitary confinement). Heck some countries even still stone people for adultry and sex before marriage. HOWEVER - the problem I have is the case and the facts should be know. The court cases in the bible were tried at the city gate, so that all onlookers would now wither justice was being served. In the case of disfellowingshipping it is done in a back room with just you and three elders or more. No recordings are anything is allow to really know what took place in the meeting. Therefore some people get DF because they get nervous or even bullied.

144000 does it make sense?
by scrubmaster ini wish we there was a search function on this board, i am sure this topic has been addressed.
but when and if you believe in the bible would it make since that there was less then a 144,000 anointed christians in the early christians times.
i mean the bible states the whole world at the time had been filled with the the teachings of the christians.

That being the case based on the population as a whole may have been back there is it does not seem possible that there were not 144,000 Christians or more.

What if there is a hope for everlasting life -- does it have to be an all or nothing proposition?
