Bethel Vacation: Lake Cabin in Wallkill
by Quotes inlooks like bethelites *do* get an officially sanctioned vacation!
i wonder if those "widows" giving their "mite" for a "world wide bible education work" know that their donation could be used to support vacation properties!

What does the Society have against jeans?
by truthseeker inrarely will you find a picture of someone in the awake or watchtower wearing jeans.
even in there so-called paradise on earth illustrations, men can be doing dirty work in the farm, and be wearing slacks.. for example, in the november 15th wt entitled, "do you want to live forever?
", page 7 has another paradise illustration, which has to be one of the most socially-engineered pictures i have ever seen.. the caption, "love for god and neighbor will make living forever worthwhile".

King David has no modern day proof outside of the bible, either.
So, you believe King David was real? How about the Apostle Paul, any/all of Jesus' disciples, Lazarus? Moses, Noah, Onan, Abraham, Lot, Adam & Eve, how about Methuselah and that guy with his talking donkey?
Not a smidgin of evidence for any of these Bible personalities.
worship psuedo-intellectualism
Just plain common sense to me.

Ethics, aesthetics, and morals
by onacruse inso, in the course of tonight's prolonged conversation with one of you jwd recalcitrants .
if, in fact, this life, this life, is all there is, and nothing remains after...no resurrection, no reincarnation, no transformation, no metamorphosis; that is to say--these bags of salt, water (and a few hydrocarbons and genetic variations thrown in for good measure) are all that we are, and all that we ever will be, and then "poof":.
why should we refrain from whatever brings the "greatest" personal pleasure to our measured and time-limited existence?

Perhaps, 2 schools of thought:
a) We are created. Hey, who gives a toss, it's all Gods fault.
b) We evolved, over 100's of 1000's of years as a hominids and prior to that as some sub species. Whatever we were, it had a tight family unit, all members of that unit protecting each other and all members contributing otherwise it wouldn't have survived. The ones that failed to support would become extinct; no family and the genes end there. The ones that did fight for the family unit would produce young and would survive. Survival of the fittest. A natural selective breeding which supported the family unit, which is why modern man, the pinnacle of human evolution doesn't generally murder, rape and destroy for pleasure. But this is a generalisation. There will always be the odd 2% that think different and we are, no matter how superior we feel, the result of evolution from the animal kingdom.

Can You Picture Jesus Christ Being a Jehovah's Witness???
by minimus inthink about that for a moment....... if jesus was a jw(as jws claim), how would he have handled various situations??
for example, if peter denied him 3 times, what would've been different?
or if the disciples fell asleep the night before he was to die, how would a jesus christ jehovah's witness have handled it?.......you get the idea.

Jesus at the wedding turned wine into water.
But if Jesus was a JW, he'd spend all his time trying to ease his conscience by using the only outlet he could - turning wine into water.

The Great Captain Pugwash Debate.
by Englishman infirst of all it was simply a childrens cartoon about a jolly old pirate and his crew.
a bit like valis and celtic i guess.
then the bbc dropped the series.

I was told that a 'pugwash' was Australian slang for having one off the wrist, for want of a better phrase.
Can anyone verify this?

JWs believe :
- Everyone else is doomed to die at Armageddon.
- Jehovah will provide, no matter how dire the situation. If God doesn't provide then it shows the spiritual weakness of those that are suffering
- Death is merely temporary, where all will be resurrected after Armageddon.
- Jehovah will make everything all right and perfect after Armageddon.
These four beliefs justify the actions of a self serving money grabbing organisation. Screw the rest of the world, they are going to die anyway. Screw the rank and file, they can just wait on Jehovah. If Jehovah doesn't provide it's your own fault. If things get that really bad, there's always the resurrection, where we can all live in paradise and all our physical and mental scars will be healed. Jehovah will provide for the organisation by the average JW contributing - as he/she is OBLIGED and guilt ridden to do.
It's all false promises - they milk the congregations for as much as they can get, with NO responsibilties or duties until AFTER Armageddon.
Nice scam.
