I agree. Follow your instincts. Ask for a "return" favor, without phrasing it like that of course, and guage their response. That will then help shape your own feelings and distill the whole thing.

The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society is...Outsourcing
by truthseeker ini received news from an elder i know in another congregation.
he told me that things are changing in the way that bethel is running its operations.. i was informed that bethel no longer makes its own ink, but buys it from other companies.. even in the bethel kitchens, there is no more watchtower chicken - meat is bought from outside, this i believe also goes for milk and dairy products too.. can anyone confirm this?
i have reason to believe it is probably true.. i wonder what would happen if the wt suppliers go out of business?

Maybe commercial ads will be introduced into the magazines. Only "approved" companies of course.
There's good revenue in that! But the WT's exaggerated circulation would come under closer scrutiny.

Working For Masons?

Once worked as a hod carrier for two masons. Tended for brick, block and stone.
No secret handshakes or pretty rings, though. Just blisters and sore muscles.

Just read it. Thanks for posting. It's really a horrible shame that these abuses happened. The only good to come of it will be the eventual bankrupting of the WT.

Ok, we know that field service, for the most part is unproductive. That is, very few newly baptised JW's are from converts. Right? That means that most dubs make babies, indoctrinate them, and they become dubs.
Does anyone know what the approximate percentage of dub kids stay in the "troof"? At least long enough to make little dubs? In my own case it was only one in three.
So if two dubs (my former wife and I) made only one dub, and she marries and has similar "success", doesn't that signal the eventual end of the chain? Just wondering.....

But how about the whole idea that you need to devote a certain "quantity" of time to please God. ie: field service, five meetings a week, etc. Where's that written?

Years ago when I was a young, single brother, no one I knew (my age) was having unmarried sex. When some scandal did happen.... it was big news!
I married a JW girl and she and I were both virgins on our wedding day. She 18 years and myself 21 years. Way, way, too young!
Today, it's probably different, but I have no first hand knowledge.
