Because they are not private investigators. Would you prefer that they start going around DFing people whenever someone accuses another witness of ripping them off? I'm glad they waited for the proper authorities to determine if these men were guilty.

Yeah.... well, did the person get DF'd for taking them to court??? Probably.

I highly doubt it, but don't rightly know. I would imagine a tidbit like that would make it into the news article. And I don't think the WT would be publicly saying anything about the case if they had just DFed both the guilty and the victim.

What do you think of Baha'i Faith?

just a little curious....i had gone to one of the websites i found by searching baha'i faith online.. i found a site that wrote on 9/12/01 saying:.

the destruction of the trade towers and the attack on the pentagon and its related events should be considered a terrible warning for the safety, security and salvation of humankind.. the second international baha'i council condemns the use of terrorism and violence as a means of change, but we have tried to warn the people of new york for years of these coming disasters, accurately predicting on national television the first act of terrorism against the trade towers in february of 1993. these acts of horrific destruction are only the beginning if the governments and peoples of the world do not submit to the authority of god and his messengers and their clear and evident proofs.. what is up with that???

i know nothing really about it so i figured i would pose the question on this board: is this religion a bit fanatical?

I believe that is what Hooberus has a difference of opinion of, but I don't think he/she sees it as merely an opinion.

It seems to me, the most accurate way to think is that they are just different ways of thinking and believing. There is not one that is right and one that is wrong. We are all wrong. No one has an exclusive on truth.

But then again.......................I could be wrong.

The correct statement people should consider is "It's OK to believe that you're right, as long as you realize that it is simply your belief and not a fact."

This man was found "not guilty" in a court of law, yet many on this board are willing to continue to label him as guilty despite knowing nothing more than what a news article says on it. That is what scares me about child molestation accusations. I hope to God that I am never falsely accused, because it doesn't matter, an accusation like that stays with you for life.

Was this guy stupid and perverted? Yes. Did he admit to being stupid and perverted and slapping her on the butt and buying her underwear? Yes. Did he admit to anything more? Not according to the article in this thread. Is he deserving of 16 years in prison? Not according to the jury who went through all the details of this case.

Questioning things like this is the same mindset that some JWs use to justify going to the elders first.

Don't let your cynicism get the best of you.

i was reading one of your missives re: fred franz and you mentioned in it that ff knew that beth sarim was constructed "solely for rutherford's use" but that he concocted the "return of the princes" cover-story.. i was wondering about your sources for this.

you cited cofc but i wasn't sure and couldn't recall from my own reading of cofc if you were attributing the source to it.. is it possible that beth sarim (while obviously being useful to get rutherford out of the way) was constructed to house the ancient worthies?

Off topic, but a funny side note. I went to book study a couple weeks ago and the Isaiah book had a pic of an old speaker panel van. The funny thing was that it had "Judge Rutherford" in huge letters on the side, advertising his speach, and only in small letters underneath it, something about Jehovah. That must have made Jehovah real happy.

i promise that i am not turning into the next minimus with all the damn questions but this is something i have been thinking quite a bit about lately.. as i grew up in the troof... i almost despised it.

what it "stood for".

and the fact that people would "worship" it.

National Pride is a definite two edged sword. The desire for National Pride is what gave this country it's freedoms. But it is also what led the German people into supporting the Nazi regime.

Everytime I hear the national anthem at a sporting event or any large gathering where I am surrounded by other Americans singing, I can't help but feel pride well up inside me. But then I remember how easy that feeling is to stir up in a group of people and how dangerous it can be. Who doesn't like the feeling of being united with others and "belonging?" It's a powerful tool that can easily be misused or go astray due to its own momentum.

but i do mean putting evidence of their covering up child molesting around.

They have the legal right to throw you off the premises. It is private property and although it is open to the public, they can revoke that invitation for whoever they want.

This is very interesting. I have not spent much time on the Trinity (although it doesn't make any sense to me) because it doesn't seem very important. The fact that this guy ends his comments with "They should not allow themselves to be misled by the Jehovah's Witnesses and end up in hell," tells me that he is as quacky as the JWs. Why would God torment people over not correctly understanding something as convoluted as the trinity? It is heavily argued both ways. What if you are just plain dumb and don't have the ability to decipher which argument is correct (that's where I most likely fit in)? God is going to torment you? It's ridiculous.
