Witness 007 - I agree with you. I think Dubai is building some excellent and iconic buildings. But weird buildings go out of fashion pretty fast. I think they will regret some of what they build.

I am glad Italy went out on the basis that they played boring negative football. I think they were actually playing for penalties last night so more fool them. To be honest Spain were not that much better either. The best teams I have seen so far are Russia, Croatia and Turkey. England wasn't there partly because they were in a hard group (see previous statement), partly because they shipped 3 ridiculous goals that proved God was not on their side, but mostly down to complacent management and leadership for which I blame the English FA. Yes we now have an Italian manager - so what - I have nothing against Italians generally, and football is multinational nowadays. Personalities are important and this is a good choice because we need a manager who is a disciplinarian as previously the players ran things too much.

no, this is not a joke.
having actually managed to survive through the entire 3 grueling days of the dc after attending the friday session today (hit sat and sun last weekend) i was initially going to make a criticism of some of the parts & points at the dc.
however, something that i witnessed today changed my mind.
My friend died in an car accident travelling to an assembly the brother who handled it said every year someone dies because of one circumstance or another.
they are having their dc here in calgary at the pengrowth saddledome so this morning the lrt train was full of them.. what a spectacle.. guys in ill-filling suits (on a roasting hot day) and 22 year old women dressed like they are 42, all with their silly name badges and yapping on loudly (much louder than anyone else ever talks to each other on the train - i guess they have to be conspicuous eh?).
little did they know that sat just feet away from them was an evil apostate ... ooooh.

I remember getting on a train in London near Twickenham during the assembly period and finding myself in a carriage full of JW's. It was the first time since leaving that I had encountered a group of witnesses en-mass - it took me by surprise. I wanted to stand up in front of everyone and say "Its all Lies" but I couldn't do it, I just sat there rigid just watching everyone intensely. The whole scene seemed so surreal with clean-cut 1950's throwbacks caged in a dirty, graffitied train carriage travelling through some dirty urban jungle. It was an event that really made me doubt myself and what the alternative to being a JW offered. I ended up in tears in front of all these witnesses (Pitiful I know, but it was just one of those moments) with them all looking on wondering what was up. I'm a lot more sure of myself nowadays.
