That goes to show you that you cannot trust anyone. No matter what organization you belong to.

Have you read your "camels" today.
by wannaexit inof all the stupid type and prototype watchtower invented, the most idiotic one to me is that the 10 camels used by abraham's servant eliazer to find rebekah represent the bible today.

Sad isn't it. As parents we have an obligation to educate out children and be frank with them. We owe it to them to let them know the reality of these cases.

Things that really bothered you.....
by bakedmonkeepie ini was thinking about the "glorious" past of my association with the witnesses..... and i started thinking.
were there ever things that really really bothered you that they were doing, and it made you stop and think about what you were really getting involved in?
mine would be at an assembly.

The things that really bothered me, was when some sisters would walk in the hall and had a skirt on with a long slit up the back. Or low cut dresses that would show cleavage. They did this to hypnotize me.
My eyes would wander, and I just couldn't concentrate on the talks.
I won't discuss some of the intoxicating parfumes.

Would a letter of DA do a DF'ed guy any good?
by czarofmischief inbesides the visceral satisfaction of sticking it the man that abused me for so many years - would it help to write a letter of disassociation and send copies to the elders, the society, and maybe a lawyer?.
my reasoning is that as a disfellowshipped person, i am regarded as a sinner - someone who was led astray by weakness and sin.
this is true.

Czaro,
I know what you are saying. You wanted to be in control of your break off, rather than they controlling you. Like in a relationship if YOU break it off than it's your doing. Now they broke you off. So you are df'd, and you wanted to be in control to DA yourself.
In the long run, as far as the organization is concerned, you are looked on as the same DA and DF will be dealt with the same. You would be waisting your time and efforts if you wanted to change your status, which in the long run doesn't change anything anyway.
Your life goes on. Don't let the WT be an influence on you any longer. If you let this status bother you, than they are still controlling you. You have the power to not let that happen to you. You are now free, enjoy it.

Not only elders, but it goes further than that. I knew of a CO in the Midwest, who had an affair with several sisters in different congregations throughout the circuit. He was single and was invited over by the friends for meals. One thing led to another. He even conducted the memorial several times at our hall. Then finally one sister wanted to marry him, but he didn't. So she blew the cover on him. Shortly after that, since the case was wide open 8 other sisters did the same.
Elders are looked upon as holy people, yet they are mere people. Granted they are to set the example, yet often too much is expected of them. They have needs and wants too, yet are suppressed by the organizational standards. Quite often it's a matter of time if their needs aren't met in so many different areas. Much like priests who have to live a celebate life. It doesn't work.
