they seem to be really popular.
one woman i know won't even go on holiday with her parents because she can't bear to be parted from her rabbit.. are rabbits taking over the world?

it wasn't for food, a car payment, house payment or anything like that.

I admire you for 'taking up the slack' your parents have left you and you siblings with, because of JWism. Under 'ideal' circumstances, sure, avoiding yelling at your parents is probably the right thing to do.
HOWEVER, since no one here was privey to that conversation, they shouldn't judge you on your reaction. I almost never yell, I try to be respectful and peaceable most of the time. But, I had an incident with a JW sister a couple of years ago, where I did do some screaming and yelling.
She was being disrespectful to my soon-to-be-bride, because she was NOT a Witness. She was reading (yelling so loud my fiance' could hear thru my phone ear piece across the room) scriptures to me like, ..."do not become un-evenly yoked with un-believers...stop touching the un-clean thing..."! (You see, I had an un-scriptural divorce, so getting remarried was 'adultry') My soon-to-be-bride, says, "un-believer ?!, I'm a believer...!!!! And...now she using the Bible to say I'm an "UN-CLEAN THING !!!???
Yep...I YELLED. She says "Well, you KNOW you are doing wrong and you KNOW she is an UN-believer ! You KNOW the Truth ? and you're going against it."
I was and am still 'marked' not DF yet. Not one of my many, many JW family, kids or other relatives attended our wedding. That was a fine 'witness' for the 'worldly' guests. You should have heard their comments when they noticed my immediate family and sisters weren't there!
Among many other things I said, "Yeah...I know the Truth ? alright..."
Sometimes, yelling is entirely appropriate.

Thanks for that. I, too needed that today. Even tho' some very good things are happening to me right now, there's still a jw rip tide pulling at me, too.
So-o...reading thru those truisms really bouyed my spirits. It's nice to realize so many people may think about you and that your life does have a positive impact on them.

How old are you ? Were you an active JW back then...pre-1975 ? If not, you, like most younger JW's have NO idea of the mood, as well as what everyone 'knew', everyone believed, what ALL the talks were about -- 1975 !!! That was when it was going to happen ! You WELL know how controlling the WTS is...remember...individual congregations were/are closely watched by the elders, circuit & district overseers...who ALL report to the GB.
YOU KNOW THAT. You also know they would have shut down ANYONE who had the audacity to believe differently than what they teach.
I was one of those 20,394 Regular Pioneers in the 3.5 years before '75. I KNOW what I was taught to say at the door and what 'wisdom' to encourage others publishers that went to the doors with me. I KNOW what the elders, C.O.'s & D.O.'s TOLD me. Btw, I gave up a college education, my non-jw father saved & worked hard to give me this -- and I refused. You see there was this "urgent life-saving work going on..."
I hope some day, you'll realize they lied, I believed, too. Now I know better!

It is quite possible, then, that the Governing Body were unaware that the Watch Tower Society had been registered as an NGO, and even if some of them did know, it is highly probable that they were not aware of all the terms and implications of such a membership.
Sure...sure..well one thing we DO know is what the GB would have done to the poor misled WT representative who 'mistakenly' made a deal with the Devil's summer home at the UN, right ?
And they would have made a public execution out of it, too! BUT , they did not...why ?
Because of how 'high' it went. The GB knew all right.
