Any other epileptics out there?

for some years i have taken the medication following the diagnosis .

for the last four years i had been free of fits and i was able to drive again .. yesterday it just happened again , no apparrent reason it just hit me and i feel worried about the future as well as thouroughly useles .

Hi Blues,

I've had partial complex seizures ever since I had a head injury, years ago. Most of the time they are under control, the break-thru types occur during periods of high stress or the rare occasions I run out of meds.

You have to hang in there, if you let this sucky disease stress you out too much, it will bite you in the butt. Most people who have epilepsy as adults may have to take meds for the rest of their lives. I know...I know, but what ya' gonna do? I have good insurance right now, but, there have been times I did not. My cost for 2 Rx's...Neurontin & Depakote was over $800/month.

Depending on your income...your Doctor may be able to get you qualified with the drug manufacturer to receive your meds at a discount or even for free!

It's not the end of the world.

Thank you for putting all this down for our sober consideration. Many of us have a long way to go before we can rest. But, good examples of good attitudes about our future lives are an inspiration.

As I mentioned to you in Dallas...your post about: "The Disfellowshipping of Jane" stays in my mind as the "most remembered post" for me. The pure emotion you wrote about then, truly moved me. I, like so many others, was really scared just coming to an X-JW web site, I had so many doubts. Reading that post in particular though, along with so many supporting testimonials from others about the abuses of the WTS, cemented my belief that I made the right decision to leave the Witnesses behind.

You seemed to be a warm, loving person, in reading your words. After meeting you and seeing it for myself, I understand why you had to get yourself out of the Witnesses and the judging position you found yourself in. You have a good conscience. I've heard people say the WT is losing their best, I believe that.

about how boys play with model cars and guns because they are expected to do so.

about how girls like to play with dolls and dress up only because that is how their mothers have conditioned them to behave in that way.

I am glad to see you posting so soon, that's a good sign...unless you're dis-obeying the Doc's orders!? My Mom died from a burst colon...weakened by colon cancer, (Sorry, to you Xena ) so I understand how seriously sick a person can get with this.

Oh yeah, most women do seem to be better care-givers...it comes naturally.

Hang in there. Like Blondie said, "Remain calm...", it will be possibly the most difficult time to do this, but also, one of the most important times. The WT and their followers will still be there later for your attention. Take care, as you have been trying to do, of yourself, and yours kids and your wife.

I CONFRONTED THE ENTIRE CONGREGATION TODAY

today, i was on the scene of the local congregation of jw's where my ex-wife and her husband attend.

physical, emotional and mental abuse has been purpetrated upon my kids for eight years now.

they have been victims of alcoholism, verbal bashings and they have been made to watch their stepfather beat the hell out of their mother and then be halled off to jail without saying a word to anyone for fear fo reprisal from him and their mother.

A Very Sad Shell-Shocking Day

why is it our lot as former members of the watchtower organization to suffer so much emotional pain?

just when we think we have reached some level of putting it all behind us, something new pops up to bite us hard.

a couple that i have been very close to just sent me a very sad e-mail.

Amazing, That is a bad guilt trip they have pinned to you. Nevertheless, whatever they choose to do, is what they choose to do !

I have to agree with some others comments, there may have been something about the JW's that they could not leave behind, but, rather than 'bad mouth' them, I say give them the benefit of the doubt that it was best for...them.

For instance, did they have family that was shunning them ? Could it be that that horrible never-ending, blood draining cancer...simply ate away at them? To where it colored their emotions so much...they collapsed?

Maybe they simply believe it ? I would be disappointed, but, still who am I to say it's not best for them?

One of the things that's really different in my life as an X-JW is, I look at people (I hope), more as individuals than as a group, where all people in that group...must be a 'certain' way. Like Catholics, Muslims, Japanese, Americans, British or gays or lesbians, Republicans or Democrats, Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons...on and on... One common human trait is to lump ALL the people in any group as being ALL the same...and they are not. JW's are especially bad about 'grouping' people, all most ALL people, that aren't witnesses, are grouped and then judged.

I know that's the way I was taught and now, I'm constantly trying to fight that JW inclination.

You are not responsible for them. Like Franz said, "They are victims of victims."

? for victims of severe emotional trauma ...dream threapy

this question is directed to those who still endure painful nightmares, nightterrors or disturbing dreams years after emotional abuse, physical abuse, child abuse,,,,both physical and sexual.

i am interested in any ideas some of you may have from your own experiences with dealing with dreams , maybe advice from dr's, any other health professionals, books, or just your own ways of working these things out.. i have always since i was a very young child had very vivid , realistic dreams.

i have always enjoyed my dreams when they are good , because they have helped me to look deep within myself .

Eyes, that is a tough subject.

There seems to be a real disagreement, even among psychologists whether or not 'repressed' memories are real...or the result of suggestion. This, they say can be explained thru just about anything you read, hear or see. It can also be, because of what each individual may have really experienced.

As far as dreams go...I don't know whether to trust them or not. You mentioned 'controling dreams'...this may sound weird, but, many times, if I have a nightmare or some dreams that shake me to my roots...after I awaken and stop shakin', lol...I can 're-enter' my dreams and change them ! I simply make a 'suggestion' to myself to have a 'good' ending, I go back to sleep and it 'changes'...I remember both of them, but, it's a good ending.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can do this, so, I'd like to here from somebody else, so I won't feel so odd.

My point is...dreams can be influenced. Doesn't mean they are not true.

I confused things, didn't I?

Do you believe it is wrong to celebrate Halloween?

thought i would throw this out to the board.

i now celebrate most holidays.

Last year for the first time since I was 10 years old, I participated in halloween. We bought some candy and turned the lights on outside and inside (lol, you know the old JW trick, not-at-home!). We actually did not get that many kids, but, the smiling innocent, eager faces brought back good memories back when I trick-or-treated as a child. It was good and we'll do it again. Besides...the WT says I can't, they double-dig dared me, so-o...

That being said, I had another experience with Halloween that disturbed me. While visiting my mothers grave-site...I was shocked to see a lot of the trees and headstones decorated with orange and black crepe paper and smiling, be-warted, ugly witches hanging from trees. I guess the most disturbing was the -- skeletons. Can you guess why ?

So-o, I guess I am a little ambivilent...

Does anyone else take Atenolol or Nitro-Glycerine?

i just got back from the doctor yesterday after discovering that my angina and valvular regurgitation from mitral valve prolapse are getting worse, and the angina lasting longer, and getting more intense.

i was on calan-(verapamil), but have now been switched to atenolol and nitro.

i was prescribed the nitro before, but never used it, as i was afraid to take it.

Hey,

I take Atenolol and haven't had any side-effects that I'm aware of, I've been on Lotrel for HBP for a while. One day a few month ago I had some heart palpatations and went to the hospital, my BP was 178/150 ! They Rx'd Atenolol, along with the Lotrel...now my BP runs about 115/75 !

I'm pretty happy with that.
