A flood of emotions

meeting (after a 15-year hiatus) a long-time jw friend, in dire straights, and lots of deep-seated triggers being pulled in the course our conversation;.
my closest, and longest (30-year and running) "worldly" .

Sorry Craig hope things improve. Can symapthise with you, I myself have gone through five years of hell and things are still in full swing for living in hell. My hope is that one day things will improve for me and also for you and hope emotionally things settle down for you. What a wonderful friend you are. Wish I had one person who could help and understand the pain and torment I am going through and have been for so long with not one person to share anything with. So keep up the support and being a good friend!

by LyinEyes ini don't know what eles to call it , i guess it is the user name....lol.......so what does yours mean?.
i think awhile back i might have asked this,,,,,,,but it was way back and so many new ones here that i am just getting to know, and ones who came in here while i was not here as much.
there may be a thread on this in the last recent months, i am not sure,,,,if so, if there are any new ones who want to tell why they choose their user names,,,,,please do.. i will tell you why my name is lyineyes,,,,,many have asked me that here lately.

Good question. I have often wondered why people pick the nicknames they do. There is no mystery in mine. I love the colour purple and my house has purple everything, I wear heaps of purple and always have purple undies on! Apparently its a stong spiritual colour but heck there is nothing spiritual about me at the moment so there is no conncection there. I have always used purple as a nickname in some form. Its either just straight purple or stuff like purpleice6 at yahoo or happening purple at msn. So its quite simple in my case! There is just not enough purple in the world!

Armageddon to come next March
by Sassy ini was told by one of my sons tonight when i called to check on them that their uncle (who is still a jw, they are not) had been studying the prophecies and has figured out that armegeddon is going to come next march.
of course i laughed when he said that.. and he told me no really, his uncle has even been in touch with the governing body and they agreed with his findings.. .
now don't get me wrong, this man is very intelligent and i can see him coming up with some reasoning that may sound intelligent, but come on.... what i got the biggest kick out of it, was that he thought the gb was going to take him serious.. first off, i am sure they don't take serious anything someone nobody says to them.. and second of all, this man has been dfd for yrs and only back in recently.. .

Cool only 12 months left of ths existence. And the problem with that is?
Purple is in a blue mood and has bright pink cheeks and a fever. Yet another UPI my fourth for the year. Apparently its left over from my bout of pnuemonia and will be left with me until my body can clear it. But hey if I only have 12 months left to tlive then its full swing party mode and stuff working and uni!

I am defintiley a doer. For instance I wanted a better life and am working towards it everyday. So like my marriage was bad, full of violence and misery. I worked hard, saved up and left him. I put myself through uni to get new skills and qualifications and am doing it again. I wanted to have friends to go out with so I joined singles clubs and in the space of about 7 weeks I have heaps of friends and have no spare time to study and have dropped a subject to fit everything in. I wanted to totally change and reformat the program I work on so that the volunteers can run it so I have found new offices and moved heaven and earth to achieve it and we move in next week and I have put protocols. procedures and poilicies in place to achieve it! I have done so much more though because I believe talk is just that - talk. The trouble is many people dont know how to make their ideas or dreams into reality. So this makes them talkers rather than doers. Mind you it takes all sorts to make this world an interesting place. Some of the best consequences to mankind came from people talking about ideas and posing questions and not necessarily acting on them!

Do you think people take the bible too seriously?
by dustyb ini know the bible has a lot of important lessons in it, but such a controversial book that is likely changed and such is quite a bit to live your life by.
i mean, how do you know that daniel wasn't a constant opium user?
or how do you know that the bible is complete?

I agree with you dustyb. Especially when you look at how wide the interpretations are and what is done in the name of the book! I mean just look at the catholic church. I can't see any evidence of the qualities talked about in that book displayed by its leaders. What about the squillions it has and what is the percentage of world's riches it holds????????? I was raised a catholic so I do have an incling of what I am talking about. Like growing up I literally had one set of clothes because mum and dad had to give to the church and it took all their spare cash. I know I should be greatful to have had one set of clothes when many in the world have nothing. But my point is when did you ever hear a priest or a nun complain of only having one set of clothes? Or when did you last see a priest or nun not live in plentiful circumstances in the west or sacrificing what they had to share with anybody????? Now I am not even going to start with the Borg becasue that has been done to death! I wish there was an org that would have the guts to stand up and say "basically the bible is the world's most used and misinterpreted book. Basically it can mean whatever you want it to mean, depending upon the influence you want to influence over what type of people!" Of course then we have a tv evangelists who millions folllow and support. They are the smartest users of this book. Look at the squillions they make. Gosh it is a wonderful marketing tool if nothing else!

Starting again at any age is not easy (I was 38)! I not only left the truth I left my husband of 18 years, nearly 12 months ago and felt like not a sole in the world wanted to know me. Now I have heaps of friends, am never at home and having a ball. I found I had to stop being so self righteous and judgemental and just accept people as I found them and for who they are. I love people, every little quirk and whim, imperfections and all. I enjoy peoples company. If you open yourself to new possibilities you will make friends. Drop the usual JW reserve that all of us had and just be yourself.
I went to a couple of local singles clubs and recontacted older friends from former days. Apologised to those I felt I needed to and moved on. Moving on is the secret and not being stuck in the past. You have left so move on. Look forward not behind and go out and embrace the life you want. MAKE IT HAPPEN don't just stand back and expect it all to come to you, cause it won't!
