This is one of the more heavily dabated topics today among JW's today. I've never know anyone affected by this issue and yet I have spent countless hours researching and debating it. I grow weary of it.
This is just another Pharisaical law. It has nothing to do with pure worship, love of fellowman or Christianity. It's all about power. WE have the god given right to interpret scripture. Period.
They know they were wrong, that's why they have modified their position. They just won't come out and say, "We were wrong". The fact that people die because of this blunder is immaterial. The unity of the Organization is more important than the individual in their viewpoint.
Christ must find this whole thing thoroughly disgusting. He went to great lengths to discourage this type of thinking. I think the GB know it's unChristlike. They read the Bible too.
This is my favourite pertinent scripture, there are others. (Matthew12:1-14). "If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." (matt12: 7,8)

Platlets...can WTBTS policy be defended?
by joel inif this topic has been addressed already...sorry...just ignore it.... if not...i would like to hear from those who would defend this policy....or who see the inconsistencies in the views on blood but the wtbts.. .
the following is something i read on at another site.
there is no question that the watchtower's blood policy needlessly kills jw children.

What are the reasons?
by neyank inhi all,.
someone asked me the other day why i am so interested in reading about jws,ex jws and things that are going on with the wts.. i think for the most part, only those who have been involved with the wts can understand why we are so interested in the subject.. of course having believed everything the wts has told us over the years and dedicating our lives to it kept us tied in with them.. what are the different reasons that you all have for continuing to be preocupied with the wts?.

STRUGGLE,
I read an interesting post on H2O. The poster was a MS that knows the FDS teach flawed doctrine. He commented that he knows a lot of elders that agree. They stay in the org. for various reasons.
I wonder how widespread that attitude is? The elders you refer to may not be as disapproving as you think. -

Of Tacking and New Light
by Gozz inthe subject of 'new light' holds some fascination for me.
and i have sought a wide spectrum of views to really understand the concept.
proverbs (4:18, i think) says the path of the righteous on gets lighter and lighter; pastor russel (or some very old literature)reaffirmed this inspired thought by stating that 'new light' never contradicts 'old light', only that it makes things clearer.

Gozz,
It's just another example of the WTBTS using "proof texts" to illustrate a point. When one uses scripture this way the context becomes irrelevant. They get away with this because rarely do any of the faithful have "time" to consider the surrounding text. The society innundates them with scripture in each study article. Most look up a few of the scriptures and think, "Yep, that's what the Bible says". The last time I was assosciated, I took the time to read all of the scritptures listed as proof for every study article (book study, WT study, Service Meeting, etc.) I read these scriptures in context though, usually reading surrounding chapters as well. It took a LOT of time. I was single and gave up my former life to make a "new" life (in retrospect this new life was no life). So I had the time available. It troubled me though, because I often wondered why they were using scripture that was irrelevant to the topic being discussed. It was one of the reasons I left, never to return. I think they intentionally misrepresent scripture. -

DISFELLOWSHIPED
by GeneBean ini was raised a jw left when i was 20 years old.
i have been out for 20 years until i met a brother and started studying.
after a year or so i met a sister who had been in the truth for all her life,46 years, she had been married 2 times.i fell in love with her.people had warned me that she was trouble, but i could not see it,i figured that she had to be better than the women that i knew in the world.i was in love,so we married 4 months later.thing were going good for a while i had been going to all the meetings and out to service,i noticed she was allways running down the elders, makeing fun of sisters,to and from the meetings.i started getting tired of it.so i told her i was not going to go to the meetings if she kept it up.we started arguing things got worse her mother and kids allways came 1st and for me last.the elders got involved, she left me went to her mothers.

GeneBean,
I’m sorry to hear that things have not been working out well for you. We all make mistakes. Even when we do our best to make the right decision, sometimes things go wrong.
Choosing a mate is never easy. Losing a mate is always hard.
It sounds like you regret some of the decisions that you have made. It’s important to remember that Jehovah can read our hearts and he is a loving God. He understands our weaknesses and knows when we feel sorrow for something that we have done.
When I find myself feeling like you describe, I try to just focus on one day at a time. Try not to dwell on what could or should have been. Find something that you can improve today. Pick a hobby you enjoy and do it.
You and I are close to the same age. I found the “Truth” when I was 18 and, like you, left it and tried again after 20 years. Making a major life change like that is difficult, sometimes it’s hard to find our balance after that kind of a change.
You picked a good place to come to. You’ll find a lot of love and understanding here. Whenever you feel the need to talk, come here and post.
If you want to talk in private you can e-mail me. My e-mail address is posted.
BTW I like that name.
Keep in touch,

Hello, all.
Have been distracted by many things this past month or two, so haven't posted for a while.
A while back someone posted on H2O wanting to know if there was anything to an article in The American Bulletin concerning an Alvin and Jacqueline Hansen that had been worked over thoroughly by the WTBTS and cronies. I wrote a letter to the publisher to see what I could find out and just received an answer.
The Bulletin itself turns out to be a right wing newspaper published six times a year out of Central Point, Oregon. It's not fly-by-night though, as it's been in business for over twenty years and is fairly well written.
It seems that the Hansens' lawyer is a Mr. Melvin E. Soll, and he apparently has already won a sizable suit against them. Then elsewhere in the paper I discovered the following 6 X 5¼ in. advertisement:
NOTICE

All emphasis is their's, and the text is exact, but naturally I can't center it and put it in a box as they do.
Have you heard of this outfit and/or Mr. Soll, and have you heard of any such "Settlement Agreement" by default or any other manner?
Hope all of you are well and of good spirits.

Heresy of the Month
by thinker inheresy of the month (from a website).
don't you hate it when someone you know comes up with some new thing that you have never heard about?
you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.

neyank,
Changing the subject isn't always a bad thing, it gives MoodyBlue a chance to ponder all the good advice she has been given here.
I'd forgotten about "Go Now". That is a good song. I've only seen the Moody Blues once, but it's on my list of "all time favourite concerts". It was a free show with Jefferson Airplane at Griffith Park (Burbank, CA). They had just released "Days of Future Past" and performed it as a single composition. Although they weren't accompanied by an orchestra they used a keyboard that looked like a Hammond B3, which they called a Mellotron, to do the orchestrated stuff. It was a first for me (the mellotron) and it was cooooool. -

Claudia,
I really like "Days of Future Passed". It was one of the first times I heard an Orchestra record with a rock band.
The poem kind of fit here too. -

I've been running the Bachelor (currently ver. 9.0) O/S. I'm pretty happy with it. It's fast, doesn't take up much room on my hard drive and is pretty flexible. I've had Girlfriend loaded for quite some time (including the expansion pack). Great program! I decided to try Wife 1.0. The read me text recommended that I change my O/S to Husband 2.0 and add more memory (maybe even a larger HD). I decided to chance it with Bachelor and my existing system. Wife loaded and ran fine for a while then crashed my system. I reloaded everything (except Girlfriend this time) and Wife crashed it again.
I gave up on Wife (after exhausting all of tech supports suggestions), reloaded Bachelor 9.0, Reading 7.5, Home Remodel 2.0 and Favourite Movies 5.0. System ran fine. I still had HD space so I decided to reload my old Girlfriend program. It crashed my system! I've downloaded all the patches but my copy of Girlfriend seems to be bugged. Has anyone ever heard of Wife infecting Bachelor with a virus making it unable to run Girlfriend? Should I just try to find another copy of Girlfriend? Do I have to abandon Bachelor and learn the Husband O/S? Any suggestions?
