Are you Ex's still Christian?
by joel inwhassup guys.
i've spent most of my web time over the last 2 years at another site full of ex-jdubs...i'd say about 50 people post there on occasion...many of that number regularly.. what struck me from the beginning, as i got to know the people posting there was...how many were now atheists...non-believers in god...the bible...pretty much anything they once held sacred as jw's!.
i dare say...90 some % do not consider themselves christian now!.

larc,
Occasionally as I read these posts I come across statements that say far more that what they appear to on the surface.Goodness is it's own reward
Is one of those statements. Most religions don't emphasize this IMHO because it dosen't allow them to control their adherents. I also suspect that if one is trying to live as a "good" person for any other reason, they are living a lie. -

Larc,
Noooooo! I just came in to answer 5 and 6. I just had to rattle the questions around in the 'ol noggin for a while.
I knew Hendricks played with the Isely Brothers, but the Little Richard connection is new to me. I think the chirping cricket story was related in the excellent movie about Buddy Holly (starring Gary Busey?). And everyone knows the answer to the last question, but you asked seven so I'm mum. -

I have inactive for a long time, but I just recently broke free of the Watchtower bondage. I'm ecstatic knowing that I'm not going to die with the wicked tomorrow at Armageddon. It can only get better from here. Oh yea, and the next birthday party I go to? I'm gonna be the loudest singer there.

Thanks For The Warm Welcome
by RJB inthank you one and all for the nice welcome after i posted yesterday.. i already feel like one of you.
i am so sorry as i have read some of the other posts of so many people who have been hurt in deep ways by the brothers, and although i can understand that a little, i can't understand why more effort isn't made to try to correct the situtation.
i could never undersatand why people were so concerned about going from house to house to visit someone who really doesn't want you there in the first place, and then neglect some brother or sister who whould really appreciate a friendly visit.

Hi RJB,
I don't like bars either and I've never tried the net.
I think I agree with all of the above suggestions. Just be yourself, be friendly, and take your time. I have met women in the grocery store, city park, front door (census taker), pysc. class, yoga class (X2), aerobics class (X2), rock concert, sierra club functions, work (X3, but do NOT date anyone you work with) and wedding receptions. Basically any where you go, but I'll empasize, be conversational don't just try to hit on someone. It may take a while before you meet someone, but women are fun to talk to. Find some hobbies you enjoy that are group activities and get involved in those.
Good Luck (there's that L word again),

TW,
I feel the need to clarify my view of Christianity vs.other befiefs.
My older brother is a devout buddist, my sister is a catholic, my younger brother is a, well aaaa......., a jock. Imho opinion all of them are more Christlike than I. I'm quite content to read the bible, work on myself, and leave everyone else alone. Well, that is, unless they ask.......You're a sweetheart too! I have sense in your post a personality that is best described "still waters run deep".
Thanks for the compliment.I enjoyed this thought:
"We were lawless people, But we were on pretty good terms with the Great Spirit, creator and ruler of all. You whites assumed we were savages. You didn't understand our prayers. You didn't try to understand. When we sang our praises to the sun or moon or wind, you said we were worshiping idols. Without understanding, you condemned us as lost souls just because our form of worship was different from yours.
We saw the Great Spirit's work in almost everything: sun, moon, trees, wind and mountains. Sometimes we approached him through these things. Was that so bad? I think we have a true belief in the supreme being, a stronger faith than that of most whites who have called us pagans....Indians living close to nature and nature's ruler are not living in darkness.
Did you know that trees talk? Well they do. They talk to each other, and they'll talk to you if you listen. Trouble is, white people don't listen. They never learned to listen to the Indians so I don't suppose they'll listen to other voices in nature. But I have learned a lot from trees: sometimes about the weather, sometimes about animals, sometimes about the Great Spirit"

Never shine but always glare.
If I'm bright enough to reach you,
You're just too dark too care.
-Neil Young (with Buffalo Springfield)Squirrel Nut Zippers
They play them on a little independent radio station by me. I thought it was a local band. -
