Hey! Knock it off all of you, I think I was in love. She did leave her address........I'd better go back to that thread about meeting women and study some more. She has far to much to offer to waste it on a dub. Let's see, some jokes...some flowers...dinner at a nice restaurant...some apostate literature...Vegas, here I come!

Are you Ex's still Christian?
by joel inwhassup guys.
i've spent most of my web time over the last 2 years at another site full of ex-jdubs...i'd say about 50 people post there on occasion...many of that number regularly.. what struck me from the beginning, as i got to know the people posting there was...how many were now atheists...non-believers in god...the bible...pretty much anything they once held sacred as jw's!.
i dare say...90 some % do not consider themselves christian now!.

Joel,
What part of LA do you hail from? I was born in Burbank, and spent many days at either Topanga, Malibu, or Zuma. -

When should you Disassociate yourself?
by happytobefree ini have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.
the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.
my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

ZazuWitts,
Thank you my child for your kind words. Your name will always be included in my prayers for the faithful. Confessions are heard on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday is usually a busy day so come early or plan to stay late. Votive candles can be lit for a donation of $1.00 (small) to $5.00 (large). Parishioners are usually not reminded that the amount of forgiveness obtained is directly proportional to the amount of contribution. No, we do not know how or why the votive candles are extinguished each night, but all are pleased that there are plenty of unlit candles available each morning for the penitent. The Lord works in mysterious ways!

Platlets...can WTBTS policy be defended?
by joel inif this topic has been addressed already...sorry...just ignore it.... if not...i would like to hear from those who would defend this policy....or who see the inconsistencies in the views on blood but the wtbts.. .
the following is something i read on at another site.
there is no question that the watchtower's blood policy needlessly kills jw children.

I grappled with many words to describe the disgust I felt when reading this obtuse and murky explanation of such a critical issue. I abandon quantity for the succinct, crude and appropriate, "A##holes!".

Thanks For The Warm Welcome
by RJB inthank you one and all for the nice welcome after i posted yesterday.. i already feel like one of you.
i am so sorry as i have read some of the other posts of so many people who have been hurt in deep ways by the brothers, and although i can understand that a little, i can't understand why more effort isn't made to try to correct the situtation.
i could never undersatand why people were so concerned about going from house to house to visit someone who really doesn't want you there in the first place, and then neglect some brother or sister who whould really appreciate a friendly visit.

RJB,
I hope you are taking notes. It took me years to learn some of this stuff.
When a friend speaks to me, whatever he (she) says is interesting. -Jean Renoir
We do not remember days, we remember moments -Cesare Pavese
And, you better believe, I'm paying close attention.Finding our desire we abandon all else,
Studying a subject we'll never master,
Always drawing closer yet beyond touch,
Forever intrigued but hoping to know,
We seek to find and are forever lost.

Yea I know it's bad poetry, and I know it's not Haiku, but I tried. Who's next? -

Interesting post on surviving Armageddon
by Sassenach ini found this post on the hourglass2outposts board.
it is essentially a copy of a watchtower magazine article with some snippets of commentary.
i'll place the link here, so you can read for yourselves the followups, but will also paste the article.. http://www.cyberpass.net/~h2o/wwwboard/messages/314729.html.

Sass,
I wrote and then discarded a critique on the 3 study articles from this mag. I enjoyed the emphasis placed upon Apostates being destroyed at Armageddon and then the "submissive" (the word that was used to render -meek) being rewarded after same event. I found the subliminal teaching humorous. I've known for a long time that the WTBTS uses that technique, but they are making it a little too obvious.
Hey WTBTS! Come on, I enjoy spotting your little dirty tricks, but make me work for it guys! -

Seven,
Now I'm glad I let you answer. You provided much more depth than I could have. Dave Matthews recorded AATW? I've only been listening to him for about a year, so I have a long way to go. -

DrivesLikeJehu,
You need to submit a photo of yourself. You know like a car burning down the road at a high rate of speed with smoke billowing from the tires. Um, I mean a chariot, not a car.
Your name is one of my favourites here. -

What should the WTBS do?!?!
by LDH inwell guys sorry i haven't participated much lately, i've been really busy.
but, i do have a question that i would really appreciate all of your input on.. it is no secret that young people are leaving jws faster and faster.
it is no secret that most jws are disappointed, and hurt by lack of prophecy fulfillment.. so here's what i was thinking: i'm going to post some very personal thoughts on what *i* think they need to do in order to stop the loss of almost 50,000 disfellowshipped and probably 4x that to inactivity.

My first reaction to this question was the same as Venice. Let 'em rot!
Buuuuut, out of consideration for those who can't bring themselves to leave and the children that have no choice.
1.Stop the door to door ministry (focus on informal witnessing if you feel the need to preach).
2.Stop all shunning.
3.Disfellowship only to keep the congregations clean, not as means to keep the flock submissive.
4.Do not protect wrongdooers to save face.
5.Eliminate the book study, replace it with an optional Bible study (yea, actually study the Bible, none of this "proof text" bs)
6.Give up on the OT crap. Focus on Christianity.
7.Stop trying to prophesy.
8.Dump the Watchtower study.
9.Do charitable works for the needy.
10.Have a big birthday party in the Kingdom Hall for all the kids and apologize for enforcing such a silly ban on something so harmless.
11.Allow women to really participate in the congregations. Women and men should be treated as equals. Eldresses? Why not.
12.Admit that the Blood ban was evil and establish a fund (sell some property and use that money) to provide counseling for anyone who suffered from that twisted policy.
13.Admit that the fools running this business are human and make mistakes like everyone else, and then retire them.
14.Study and emulate mainstream religions. WTBTS have enough members and enough resources ($$$$$) now to sustain themselves. So there is no reason to continue with the cult like tactics. They are as misguided as the others, so why not join them.
EDITED
Lisa,
I was headin' down the road when I realized that I had not adhered to the guideline you suggested when preparing this wish list. So dismiss this as a rant and not constructive criticism. Post-now-think-later is my maxim.
And I'll add one more:
15.Immediately stop playing all Kingdom songs in the Halls. Begin playing "All you need is Love" by the Beatles (If necessary, pay royalties to whoever holds the copyright, tell the Brooklyn boys to stop being so cheap.). Continue to play and sing this until the friends get the idea. If it takes a really, really long time substitute "Imagine" by John Lennon. Both of these songs should be sung in 3 or 4 part harmony with percussion instruments as accompaniment (tambourines, maracas, bongos, washboards, and more). The Friends need to LOOSEN UP.
Phew, now I've worked up a sweat. End of rant (really).Edited by - amicus on 19 January 2001 17:50:3
