back in the day, there was a chat feature...and you could see who was in chat and there was ALWAYS someone to chat with. ..so it was never lonely.

That was a nice feature. I wonder if anyone has tried a JWD ventrilo channel?
so what was it like at the beginning of jwd?
was it lonely?
how does it compare to now?

the 1980's was certainly a strange time for rock groups, and musical development.
lots of techno, beginnings of alternative , and some rock n' roll groups trying to push along.
what were your favorites ?
Roxy Music
Every music collection should have a copy of "Avalon".
Split Enz
Tim and Neil Finn are so young in that video! Was it really that long ago? Lets see, all my Split Enz are on lp records and my Crowded House are all cd's, so I guess it was!
what would you change if you could?
what do you like / hate about it?
thanks / cheers!
Not much help here, but I'll share what I can. I recently purchased a woodburning stove. After spending a good amount of time checking brands and prices I decided on an Osburn from Canada. I'm very pleased with the quality of material used and the workmanship. I'm fairly certain they make Pellet Stoves as well.
looking back i realize that the way it was handled was probably the best of my experiences with committee meetings.
at this committee meeting, they asked me if i was disfellowshipped 3 months ago, i couldnt believe that!
" i asked him why the announcement hadnt been made and he said he didnt know.
I would consider it a badge of honor
Just the fact that you have been able to sit down and write this "letter" to us shows that you have already earned that "Badge of Honor".
The fact that you wrote it while listening to "Floyd" means that its just a little shinier.
Welcome to JWD!
i would like to encourage all of you to put your old wts to good use by creating an even more hostile environment for the wtbs.
when you dine in a restaurant out-of-town or one that you will probably not be returnng to, rather than leaving a tip just leave a wt or awake with a note that jehovah's wisdom is worth much more than a tip.
i promise that the server will spread the word about "those damn jws" .
I thought you might be suggesting we use them in our gardens as mulch to control weeds. I'd gladly do so, sadly all my old literature went into my local "Recycle" bin long ago.
do you feel so strongly about a particular belief that you would make a stand for it through death?.
what belief is it?.
purps.
Death is the easiest thing of all.
Interesting but true. Even when one doesn't believe in an afterlife. People interred in conditions to horrid to even discuss here survive just to show they are strong enough to continue. Those same ones possibly would die without second thought to save another.
witnesses pride themselves as being "true christians".
i think they are frauds!
how would you show that, in reality, jws are far removed from real christianity?.
but then, Christ himself was not a Christian, he was an anarchist Jew
Bingo. Christianity today has little to do with what most "Christians" accept as the teachings of Christ.
A group of folks that lived in harmony with what is accepted as "Christs teachings" wouldn't even be noticed nowdays. 20 million of them might be another matter, thousands though wouldn't even be a blip on the radar.

Sprinsteen "dancing in the dark" my Favorite
Favourite of us males is "Candys Room". Don't mean to speak for others or anything like that...but damn.
I think most Clash fans sing their kids to sleep at night with the lullaby "Charlie don't surf, but I think he should...."

"Somewhere Down The Crazy River":
I was a big fan of "The Band". I remember recording this for a gf of mine who loved Depeche Mode, The Cure, Tom Petty. I thought I had her tastes dialed. She hated it. Just another lesson in humility for me. That whole of album of his was good!
i was part of the north texas quick build group for some five years and we seemed to be building a new hall about every six weeks.
i was also up at the denton (krum) assembly hall for most weekends in 1990 and 91 as the hall was being built.
how many of you joined these work groups just to get out of meeting attendance and field service?
The first District Assembly I ever attended, I was in the "Drama". I played Terry (?) the rebellious son. This was the early 70's and rebellion was in the air! We provided the entrance and exit for some drivel about Joseph and his brothers. When we weren't going through rehersals for that I was slaving away at one of the refreshment stands at Dodgers Stadium. It was great. I was exhausted at the end, but the time flew by.
District Assembly #2 I thought I should cool the volunteer activity and enjoy the Spiritual food. I honestly don't think I have ever been more bored in my entire life.
Any volunteer activity from then on had me striving to be at the front of the list. Security in the parking lot during meetings? Me, please? Paint the KH in the next community? Me, please. When quick builds came around I think most of us were there not to build something, but to avoid meetings.
