Superintendant Chalmers on the Simpsons:
A prayer....a prayer in a public school?! God has no place within these walls, just like facts have no place within organized religion.
i was going to add this to a comment to a post of mine in rune's topic "why?
" (if anybody was paying attention to it) but i figured i would start my own thread on it.. i have always liked quotes, especially very profound life lessons revealed in a short quip.. one of my favorites is by michel de montaigne: .

so, it sounds like the nhl and the players association is deadlocked and there's no contract.
the owners want to put a cap on the players' salaries and the players say no deal to that.
if there's no hockey this season, have you thought about how you're going to occupy hockey nights??.
I'll occupy myself with NHL 2K5....no clutch and grabbing, high scoring hockey.
perfection
after a discussion with a couple of current jws, it's come to my attention that my conception of perfection in "the kingdom" is very different from theirs.
on pages 188 & 189 of the knowledge book, we see the society's (or artist's) conception.
Finally one said, "I believe that you can do things wrong and still be perfect". How's that? I asked. He said, "what I mean by perfect, is that in the Kingdom we won't get sick or die." "I see, so perfection in the Kingdom is about the conditions that man will live in, not the change that God would have to make in my sinful nature" I said. That's right! he said. The meeting ended shortly after.
So God doesn't make a change in our sinful nature, by that statement doesn't it mean that they believe that in paradise they will still sin and have to ask for forgiveness, but they won't get sick and die? This would seem to contradict Romans (i forget where, haven't opened a bible in so long) where it states that the soul that sins, dies.
Keep asking questions like this, where it traps them and forces them to think outside the WTS box.
Nocturne
have anyone of you ever heard of or read anything at livingwaters website.
it is pure evil .
you would not believe what they do to people on the net who join their site.
This is seriously hilarious...another JWs offshoot?? What's their beef with the WTBTS?
i have been wondering who is the president of the watchtower society?
my mother told me that milton henschel died in 1993 and i have not heard of anybody ever replacing him?
my mom also told me that the society has 7 new corporations within the watchtower society.
Poztate,
I believe this is where I say "Pun intended"

I believe the new WTBTS President is a man named Don Adams. He is not on the GB. If I'm wrong, please let me know as I would not want to misinform others. Thanks.
Actually, I'm 99.9% sure that he is not part of the GB. The whole point of splitting up into multiple corporations and the GB stepping down from the board of governors back in 2000 was to make sure that they would not be liable in any lawsuits involving the WTBTS or something like that.

I don't think it's a big secret that the JWs have multiple corporations working for them. It's all due to changes that happened a few years ago when the governing body "officially" stepped down from their position from the WTBTS. It is basically in case of lawsuits. Like you said, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Inc. oversees doctrinal matters, and if I'm not mistaken, they handle the appointments of DOs, COs, and elders. So then what happens, if someone sues the JWs over let's say their handling of a particular child abuse case, and they win, the WTBTS will be protected and they'll be able to continue their book publishing business.
So the moves of the org are not a sign that they're being blessed by god with rapid expansion, but rather that they're making smart business moves, and trying to cover their assets.
i know this may sound strange but i would like some input on the following.
i have a handful of friends (some in the org and some out) that are saying that "god" is talking to them.
he is communicating directly or using an angel.
Are any of them posting on the e-Watchman's forum?
Godly Obedience?!?!
And by "Godly" they really mean the wts.
hey guys, .
one of my closest friends told me that when he was 15, he went to get his palm read by a witch.
she told him that he would be dead by the time he was 35. .
The POWER OF SUGGESTION can be fatal. Adherents to Voodoo often die when a "spell" is put upon them by a conjurer. Is it the spell that kills them or the belief in the spell?
Kenneson, that is an excellent point here. Having heard several "stories" of voodoo in my time, all I can say is that most of those stories are hogwash. The mind is indeed a very powerful thing, and can truly affect your perception of things, and can even make certain "events" happen to you if you truly believe it.
