I remember hearing about this awhile ago (I actually had the info saved on my hard drive) but I completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me about that stuff. Just goes to show you that the wts' association was in fact intentional.

Welcome to JWD kibi. Congratulations on finding this site, and starting to research about the organization. It's great that you didn't have to spend too much time stuck inside the borg.
He refuses to believe that the UN involvement is even true. The proof I have shown him he says could be fabricated. It's all a big conspiracy by Satan to turn us all from the WTS.
It is so frustrating to see such paranoia and have him justify everything the organization does. He says the stories I read on the internet are a fabrication designed by apostates and satan.
I had my own experience trying to present the proof of the wts' involvement to the UN a few days ago. They pretty much said the exact same thing your husband has...it was quite frightening for me to see how much JWs are brainwashed for the first time looking on the outside. But don't be discouraged, I'm sure you'll be able to get through to him despite the amount of indoctrination he has gone through in his life.
Good luck,

What made you leave?
by Joysome in.
by this i mean what was it specifically that said to you that this isn't the truth?
caused you to give up what you always thought was the truth?

For me it was the UN/NGO thing. When I first stumbled on it, I didn't believe it, but I said to myself that I would look it up, and if it was true then I knew it couldn't be the "truth". That led me to research more about the organization including some of the doubts I had in my mind from the past.

Ok, Question: Was there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced.
by New Castles inwas there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced you, this is not right?
for me a couple of weeks ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.
i looked at my wife and went "what"??

This comment was made a few months ago when the CO came to my congregation, i was already mentally out by then. He said: "You see the problem with the world, is that people DON'T JUDGE others enough anymore" and went on to talk about the decline in morals in our era blah blah blah...
Obviously, the CO doesn't read his Bible much...
Matthew 7:1-3: 1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

Do Jehovah's Witnesses harbour pedophiliacs?
by yxl1 injust found this article during lunch.
must say, that the arguments this site uses to refute the paedophile scandle are so weak, i wonder why they bothered.
lets hope that this is not the opinion of the average jehovahs dimwit.

I'm afraid it might be. For example, a few weeks ago when I was in the yahoo chatrooms, they were discussing the child abuse scandal in the wts. An inactive witness IM'd me and ask if these accusations were true. I went on to explain that to deal with child abuse cases, the society still applies the two witness principle. I told her that if the accused denied the charges and it was only the word of the child against the word of the accused, that they applied the principle to that cicumstance. Finally, I said that the elders called the society's legal dept. and that if the law didn't require them to report to the police any accusations made of child abuse, that the people in legal told them to "leave it to Jehovah".
And this was her answer: "well then i guess it makes sense"
This was just one case though, so I don't want to be making generalizations.

Wow, that's quite alot of stuff you've been through. Every time i read experiences of people who have lived through this org., i get more and more convinced that my current course of action is the right one. It's incredible how much pain and suffereing they have caused people, and it just hurts me to hear about stuff like that.
I undertand also your feelings of fear of being labeled as an apostate. Since i am still 'active' within the org. i had the same feelings as you did, but they will pass with time. The important thing to realize is they like to label people like 'worldly', 'spiritually weak' or 'apostate', it's a method for them to control people. They label people apostates because those people know the WHOLE truth about the org, and the wt leadership fear these people, because knowledge is power. So they demonize these people so that the R&F jws will be afraid of them, and avoid them, thus preventing the R&F from finding out the whole truth.
Welcome to the forum, and I hope you stick around here.

Making a smooth transition out of the org... is it possible?
by Surfacing inhello again friends,.

I'm not going through something similar, but since I'm planning on officially leaving the organization soon, there are a few observations i would like to add. From your initial question, is it possible to make a smooth transition out of the organization, I believe you cannot unless you just move away where the local jw won't know you used to be one. However there is still the possibility of some family members who are still in contacting your local congregation and telling them where you are.
Do you have alot of family who are still inside the org.? If so, if you told the elders the truth about what is really going on, they might try to DF or DA you, and then you would face shunning from those family members. If you decide to just fade, and avoid the elders, you will have to watch your back constantly. What it comes down to, is what situation are you willing to live with because either option has negative consequences. If you fade, you will have to expect phone calls, or elder visits and be prepared to answer some questions ( and there is also the possiblity the elders will DA you if you answer that you don't believe it is the truth anymore), but if you get df'd, you won't get those phone calls, and won't have to answer for your actions, but you might be shunned by your family.
There is no easy way out of this organization, and that's why it's a cult. I wish you luck trying to figure out what you and your wife are going to do.
