hot topic on topix seems to be candace conti settlement.

but it's all quiet here.

are you guys aware that your hero, who was not in it for the money but to change policies, settled without changing anything?

I'm no bible scholar but I believe part of the acceptable form of worship was to care for motherless/fatherless children, aka vulnerable children. You would think an organization claiming to be the one true religion chosen by Jesus based on a erroneous date would make protecting kids a top priority.

They did not. They follow a principle out of context to protect their image in the form of the two witnesses ruling.

Nitty, who obviously is here to ruffle feathers and disregard the advice of the beloved org, puts Conti up as the apostate idol when no one views her as such. Then, tries to bring her down for settling. Whatever her reasons for doing what she has are her own. I think the WT says it is satanic to imply what others motives are. Idk Nitty, sounds like you are satanic. Bottom line... More will leave the org as a result than will join it. That is a win.

Bethel Meeting at Regional Convention

i decided to go to the bethel recruiting meeting yesterday to test out my theory that the organization is in decline.

i assumed that if there is a general feeling of apathy by many in the org, then certainly it would be shown up by the lack of enthusiasm or zeal by many to sign up for bethel service.

well let me say that based on what i observed, this organization is not going anywhere.

There are many ways to interpret something like the bethel meeting standing room only scenario.

Reason 1:

Overcompensate for doubts, boredom, immorality by pioneering, going to bethel, school for couples, etc. Possibly the same is true here.

Reason 2:

If you are judged by full time service and field service accomplishes absolutely nothing, bethel becomes the only thing you have left to try, unless you can afford to move where there is a "need." Since there are not a lot who can afford.. There us go

they obviously know it.. in the last few years, a more modern, hip, and cool image for their brand has been foisted on the public at large.. jw.org.

(sidebar: a group of us witnesses, when i was a teen, were sternly lectured by a circuit servant about how wrong it was to refer to ourselves as jw's.want to know why?

he said, "reducing jehovah's name to mere letters of an alphabet is blasphemy!

Most younger generation dubbs put "JW" in their Instagram profiles and refer to themselves as JWs like they are a blood or crip or something. At least they did five months before I was blocked for my disease. In and around bethel its normal and has been long before the launch of their sweet new website.

i'm writing this here because i need someone to talk to, and you're the only folks i know who will understand.

most of the time i think i'm a pretty happy and together person, but lately, i'll see something that reminds me of my family and i'll spontaneously start crying.

i miss them so much and my heart keeps breaking, and even though i have kind people i work and volunteer with, i feel so incredibly lonely sometimes.

Clearly, you are not alone. Besides those who responded to you, think of those afraid to have the courage to write what you did and then read your post. You've helped someone on here, guaranteed.

Since I've left the WTS I have been lucky enough to reconnect with friends from when I was younger, pick up a new hobby (disc golf, it's actually really fun and a good community of people). Unfortunately, my wife only has me since she was raised her entire life as a witness. She isn't even dfd but all friends and family have severed ties. The elders never checked on her and she hasn't been in 6 months to a meeting. The other night she just started crying uncontrollably and said she isn't doing well. She is having a hard time adjusting to life without her friends. All I could do was listen and cry with her. She takes it one day at a time and I try not to put any pressure on her. I did have her read your post and it turned into a positive conversation. I think it moved her to not let the WTS and the control they had affect her anymore. It got her mad. What I'm saying is that you helped my wife and I thank you. I hope you continue to do well yourself.

my wife has just left for the convention.

i dread it.

she will come home tired and cranky as always.

Agreed with above..something special when she gets home.

I remember when I would come home from the district convention and tell myself it was the "shot in the arm" I needed at the right time, when really I just wanted to take a couple shots when I got home each day.

today, we know of 18 elemental particles following the recent discovery of the higgs boson, the so-called god particle.. back in 1897, most people believed in god because there weren't even any theories as to how the universe came into being.

1914, 607, 1919, have been proven wrong yet millions believe in it
The problem is with the word "believe. " The mind can choose to believe in what it wants. Believe, beliefs, etc. Cults fuel the beliefs and rake in supporters who choose to believe in all this stuff instead of reality. That there is no paradise. There is no everlasting life.

2015 Regional Conventions Baptisms

since this is the first weekend of rcs, anyone going that can give estimates of how many are getting baptized, how many appeared about that were jw youth, and what attendance figure is at these rcs?.

i know u.s. baptisms are declining.

can any keep a running report?

I'd say the increase decrease would be based on how many children were raised as witnesses starting 9-15 years ago and are now of age and forced into making a decision. We all know they aren't coming out of "Satan's world", I mean except for the rare few who are vulnerable enough.
