No bitterness, ever...I've never been happier. I often look back and think WOW! I am so proud of my life and the outcome...I look at my daughter and all the positive choices and path she has chosen now in high school. I'm married to a wonderful husband now, who is so richly caring and sensitive, and loving...( I could go on ) and nothing of what I had ever found in the "truth"....I have the most awsome little boy, now 15 months old....the only thing that saddens me, is that my mother, father, and sister cannot comprehend it, nor truely appreciate it. I have too many good things in my life now to ever be bitter.....what a wasted energy.

Merry...welcome! and thanks so much for sharing that. I had received a long time ago when my daughter was 4 a letter similar to that from my mother, she even asked if she could take over as my daughter's spiritual guide and start studying with her....I told it wouldn't be necessary and that I was still taking care of that in my own way. We had exchanged several letters, but to no avail...she will never understand and just feels that I'm lost...my daughter turns 14 now, and I have a son 15 mos old....she doesn't keep in contact anymore, even after I've sent pictures.
You are very brave for going at this on your own, with all of your family still in that faith...good luck.....it's very strengthening to hear experiences like yours.
Sincerely....

144,000 - LITERAL or SYMBOLIC?
by stevieb1 inwell the topic subject says it all.
i'd love to have your input on this question.
as many may be aware the watchtower of september 1, 2004, pp.30-31 dealt with this question.

It could be literal....and if it is, then I do not believe that it is all JW's that are chosen...their other more noteworthy individuals here on earth and that have passed.....Ghandi....Mother Theresa....Nelson Mandelo....and the list can go on....their efforts and works were not for nothing...I believe their is something great in store for people like that.

Hi Paul.
I can't even imagine what it would be like living with a spouse still a witness...any of you on the board, it's got to be tough...what do you talk about? Anyway, I wish you all the best in all of your endeavors with your wife, unfortunately she is very blinded by that faith, and no matter what you try to do that may seem right, they will find some fault in it, because nothing outside the faith is right, and we are all evil. You know in your own heart that you are good...and all you can do is keep moving forward like you are doing.
People are often unreasonable and self-centered.Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you.
Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It never was between you and them anyway.n Mother Teresa
Good luck with your new job! and your spiritual quests....
Eva

Do you love to dance?
by Maverick ini love weddings cause, "love is in the air", and you can ask any woman to dance and not get shut down.
when i went to vegas and we hit all the night clubs you could see all the couples sitting there around the dance floor, the women bobbing up and down off their seats and their guys sunk down with their butts glued to the chair.
even though i am not the best dancer, being one of those men willing to "shake that thing" i had a great time.

Right now just for fun, I am taking FLAMENCO, and wow. What a challenge, but what a sensual dance, who would have thought
Hey Netty very cool...I'm thinking of taking Flamenco here in Chicago....where in AZ are you taking lessons? I used to go salsa dancing at a Spanish restaurant in Scottsdale, they also had flamenco dancers during there dinner hours.

I love dancing. I go out to clubs to salsa and merengue....my husband doesn't mind if I go out with my girlfriend, those kinds of places people actually go to just dance and not necessarily pick up. I wish he would learn though....he's a great Jewish white boy, but absolutely no rhythm.

It's not unusual for any young man at your age to start contemplating the path they are on. Even if you have never been a witness, it does mean you have a lot of soul searching to do on your own. I can't encourage you to go back merely because I think it would only muddle your thinking. A spiritual journey should be internal, not external....try and really think about why you want to go back....and be very honest with yourself...is it structure you are looking for? friends? goals? spirituality? make a list of your needs and ALL of your alternatives besides the organization.
Let us know how your first meeting went...think about why you left originally.
Take care.

Let's share the good memories from the org.
by anew ini got this idea from the thread about fun.
you know, today is different, i have some good memories from years ago, cake after bookstudys, kiddie parties, intermissions, mcdonalds for break at field service.
happy elders who would tease me as a little girl and carry me from door to door.

When I was a young teen I enjoyed going to the convention looking for young hot brothers, and going out afterwards with a group of young "spiritual" teens for dinner and flirting of course.....or when the young brother I had a crush on was holding the mikes...I'd make sure I sat on that side of the hall and atleast raise my hand to read a scripture....yeah those were the things that kept me going at those boring meetings...

Question... Do JWs shun Family?
by Sassy ini had a disagreement with xq in chat today, because he was trying to say that jws for the most part disobey the wts and still treat family like family even if they are dfd or quit being witnesses.. i don't feel that is true.
i think that the majority of us on here who no longer are jws have family members who no longer have anything to do with us and shun us.... so i said it would be interesting to take a poll and see how many here are treated just like all the rest of your 'loving family' who is a jw still.......are you treated the same?.
does family shun you for being df'd, da'd or no longer participating?or do they hide and talk to you but only when other active jws can't see?

my family doesn't even call to ask about the kids....even if they are in town, they never call to stop by. My mom and I used to be close...now I know her love for me was very conditional.....I've tried to build a bridge, but she likes to keep burning it down.....sorry XQ....that's the reality in most JW families.....
