I've been on here for a few years. Best not to give out your real name. Obviously it'sallgoodnow isn't my real name. Any email address I have given out isn't my real name. Don't tell anybody your real name online where it relates to ex-JWs and most other stuff. And don't give out too much info about yourself personally that might give you away. I really don't think they will figure out who a poster is on this site, unless Simon gives them our IP address? Which I would doubt he would do. Of course, you need to be careful about visiting any sites off of here directly, because sites outside of here can have IP addresses stored and they would know you came from here.

I have a myspace and I use it and I have friends from here, but ITSNOTMYREALNAME!

I must be careful. I'm sure you all understand.

My sister said myspace was something they talked about in a service meeting about 2 weeks ago. That the elders had better not find your myspace page. So I deleted my real one and started my "alias" page.

So it's not me and the pic is not me, either. Sorry boys! I'm not that hot. But I have long brown hair and brown eyes. And the name I picked has some significance to my real name. I hope that's not too creepy, and I almost feel like forgetting it altogether. but I can't be too careful. I probably could start one with my name or an "alias" with my pic that is closed off to the public. I didn't realize you could do that until lately.

I thought I was alone

i just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.

i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.

he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.

welcome! I can totally relate to your story. it's really frustrating finding out you've been lied to, and you've sacrificed a lot to the people who bully you and lie to you and are quick to throw you to the curb if you don't submit to their control. it's like lots of types of abuse, I suppose. only worse in some ways because you can't see what it really is when you are too involved in it. Just learn from it, learn to check things out a little more thoroughly before getting too involved. Don't turn your anger on yourself for falling for any of it or for time wasted, and don't spend too much time being angry, it's not worth it.

divorce question

my soon to be ex-husband's father is the presiding overseer of the congregation and his entire family is very spiritual - including my husband's sister and her husband who serve in gilead.. to make a long story short, my husband and i used to serve in bethel but eventually left.

we moved around the nyc area where we both took on full time jobs, pursued our four year degrees, and led pretty successful lives.

i left the organization, because i was tired of gossip, etc and half of my family was disfellowshipped.

first of all, you are directing most of your anger at the other woman. It seems like you have been made to feel at least a little unsure of your own worth and it comes off as very insecure. I can't imagine how the gay co-worker might have been made to feel about those comments. That was needlessly mean to include in the blog.

I'm sorry to be so out there with it, though. I don't really know the situation, but I can understand the pain you are in and I know people do things they wouldn't ordinarily do when they are under a lot of stress or in a lot of pain.

So his family is rallying behind him. That shouldn't surprise you. In fact, it should make you feel validated in all the reasons why you left the organization. They are obviously full of crap. If they were really close to you all these years or if you don't have any family of your own, I would understand why their treatment of you would be so hard to take. It's hard when family turns on you. It hurts worse than when anyone else does it. But it's his family. Don't take any of it personally. I know that's easier said than done, but in this case I would say, walk away and don't think about it anymore. Move on and don't let it make you bitter. Eventually, you are going to forget all about them and not care anyway, so don't waste any more time on them.

I used to post a lot on a sports forum... but that's full of kids fighting with other kids about their favorite player, and always makes me want to pull my hair out. I haven't been there in a while.

I'm thinking about joining the rachelraysucks forum. she really does suck. have you tried any of her recipes? they are disgusting.

Lost and looking for answers

this is my story.

i was born a jw and never knew anything else because my parents shelter from everything but for other reason.

from the time i can remember my dad beat my mom.

something I've been thinking about a lot lately....

When I founjd out the truth about the witnesses, I thought I had all the answers. I thought the JWs were the reason for all the crap in my family. What I'm finding out, is my family was crap for other reasons, and the JW thing just made the crap seem to smell ok. There is mental illness in my family. THAT's the real problem. JW's are just a part of it. There was abuse in my family. My family is SOOOO screwed up and nothing will ever make it ok. Thinking it was the JWs fault was a mistake I have made. They were only a part of the problem, or, they only made the problems worse.

We just need to find a way to make peace with our past, and if it's family, it's always going to be around, make peace with the fact that each and every person must put in the work to improve themselves and get past it. You can't beat yourself up for what others are doing, just take responsibility for yourself now and in the future, and protect your kids from those things.

Take your time, too. It doesn't all fit together easily and in a short time. Cults make everything look easy, but there are no easy answers. Give yourself a break from religion for a while, and give yourself time to search.

you know the type....always taking, never giving, always looking to take advantage of someone......and i don't like liars all that much either.

selfishness. because shellfish is my least favorite food.

and because selfishness can hurt people closest to you, and when you hurt someone, and you know it, then you've got to invent a reason to be hateful to the very people who are doing something for you. but don't thank them for it, kick them while they are down instead!

... don't get me started.

In-laws from planet INSANE!

oh, i know it is so common to not get along with your in-laws, and comedians pull off this issue all the time.

i just think i have two of the most insane in-laws in my life and want to share some crazy in-law stories and wondered if others had some good ones too, funny or not.

mine are a limitless bunch to pull from, as they always do something daily to add to the pile.. their home, and trying to make it better.. my in-laws live in a 30 year old single-wide trailer with tip out.

It's hard to see older parents making unreasonable choices, and they can be adamant about them, and harmed by them. It makes the caregivers frustrated and feeling powerless to help. I can completely relate...

only if you believe paul was 'inspired' will you believe what he has written.

this is a very good book to read as you do your own research into how the bible was written - that and the gnostic writings.

It's interesting what you wrote about the candy cane thing... someone who is trying to recruit me into the evangelical faith (lol, as if ! ) was talking about that recently... I wanted to run away from her, she sounded so crazy to me!
