Yes! Knowing what I know now, if I could go back in time, I would have created my own opportunity to get out asap, never would have been baptised.... and the list goes on.

Would you have left sooner?
by Nosferatu inif you were still in the jw religion and wanted out, and an opportunity was presented to you to leave everything behind and escape your jw life, would you have taken it?.
when i was 15, my brother had mentioned that i could come and live with him at age 16 if i wanted to, away from the jw religion, away from my parents.
i was seriously considering it, but it never happened.

Hi and welcome to the board. If you've been reading here long, you'll figure out most of us have no plans of returning to the WTS and we mostly enjoy critizing it and opening our eyes to different facets of their lies. However, you're still pretty young and scared. I remember when I was just like you and I really felt bad about myself. I got over that feeling eventually.
Just remember - KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. Seek knowledge and wisdom with an open mind and you will find your way.
Peace.

Harmful or Dangerous?
by Sunspot inin view of the recent ban in russia, and the statement that the government feels that the wts is considered harmful and dangerous, my thoughts are these;
i think that anyone or anything that purposely tampers with the very fabric of people's families, is dangerous, but that's just the way i see it.
maybe this sounds extreme, but then the watchtower society is extreme, and too, i speak from personal experience.. .

Call me an optimist, but I don't think they can hold all of this together very much longer. It's destined for failure. The good old boys who invented this scam probably didnt think it would hold up this long!

Second question: If you weren't roped into this religion by your parents...

do you really bel i eve it's a cult?

no I think I wouldn't have. Some of the teachings would have instantly triggered warning bells, I would have needed to look further into this or more likely wouldn't have bought into it from the start.

Rwanda, Neutrality and Muslims - what about the dubs?
by acsot inwe have all read in the wts publications about how neutral the dubs were during the hutu/tutsi massacre.
i have no doubt that the majority of dubs remained neutral.
however, it is interesting to read how other major religions also helped each other out, as well as took risks to protect their neighbours.

That's interesting. I was pretty skeptical of all of the glorious WTS claims concerning Rwanda. Numbers don't lie, though, do they!

What is Your purpose/point for being here?
by ScoobySnax ini get asked that question alot, some even ask what exactly my purpose is!
i can live with it.. if i had to answer my own question, i'd have to say it broken down into a number of points.
a. i like to see what the latest stuff is happening on the "apostate" side.. b. i like to watch the politics of this group.

It's comfy here, I don't really know why. And since my family situation right now has me doing the slow-fade thing (see, there's even a lingo to pick up!), I'm constantly exposed to things that really bug me and I can at least talk openly about them someplace. My non-JoeWit friends can't begin to understand! And there's a lot of people out here who have some really good ideas and thoughts that I would never have come up with myself.
Thanks you all for being out here !

WT illegal doctrine
by itsallgoodnow inafter reading the nov 1 1999 questions from readers about voting... http://www.jwfiles.com/vote.htm.
i'm wondering if they felt they needed to change their teachings on this because they feared legal action against them for disenfranchising their people.
am i on the right track with this?

Thanks XQ's you could be on to something there.
And thanks everybody for your responses. I guess I shouldn't get too excited about policy changes, which are in name only, not in practice.

As the years pass, Jehovah continues to give us further clarification of truth, including a clearer understanding of his prophetic word. (Proverbs 4:18) In recent years, we have been encouraged to look again with deeper understanding at?among other things?the generation that will not pass away before the end comes, the parable of the sheep and the goats, the disgusting thing and when it will stand in a holy place, the new covenant, the transfiguration, and the temple vision of the book of Ezekiel.
Translation: False = fuzzy, unclear.
Admit it, you have been proven wrong, false, untrue.
Did Jehovah whisper a prophetic word into the ear of an angel, who whispered it to another angel, who whispered it to another angel, etc. and then after about 50 angels, it was whispered incorrectly into a Brooklyn boardroom? Is that how it got so off-track?
Or are you boys just making this up as you go along?
BUSTED !
