I'm still associated and in good standing. How little they know.
yup, me too!
what i mean is according to the society, there are a number of persons that are "technically" "inactive" yet are viewed as jws still.
i'm sure that i'm viewed as a witness still because i am not df'd or disassociated.....what about you??
?
I'm still associated and in good standing. How little they know.
yup, me too!
do you believe in hell again?
the trinity?
the "slave"?
I don't believe any of it, nothing. It's all make-believe -- the bible, god, all of it. I don't think I'll be able to believe in anything again (religiously speaking, anyway).
what angels?
after reading the wt for last week's lesson on god's creative works i couldnt help but think that there really is a god, there has to be.
i dont want to start a creation vs. evolution debate but you have to agree that its an extremely remote chance that the whole universe, the planets, stars, the sun, the earth, the animals, humans came about by accident.
i mean, what the chances really.
Yes, I have struggled with that question.
I don't think the god of the bible or any other religions, current or past, is real and I don't beleive in ghosts, demons, satan or any of that. I don't think there's really any proof of it. It's all legends and myths passed down from generations ago and you can't really trust that. The big claims these religions are making can't be proven, so if there's really a god of the bible, you would think he would have the responsibility to make people, every generation of people, fully understand he's the one. I don't think that's been done, so that's part of the reason I don't believe any of it anymore.
It changes my perspective on WT society, understanding they really aren't the only fraud on the block.
their mother organization fed them that the new system would be here by now.
therefore, they failed to make financial plans for today.
and, guess what?
What's really hard is when an older person loses their husband or wife. They are completely unprepared for it. Didn't even consider it a possibility. I guess they still believed that millions now living will never die...
It's the kids taking over financial responsibilities of their parents (who didn't save for retirement) who have learned (the hard way) not to trust the WT society on this issue and will start to question WT rules on most everything else, too.
At least I believe Jehovah will take care of my parents, and by that, I'm assuming Jehovah is my visa card.
i am getting news from jws who have attended the district convention that the drama (which is pre-recorded and played to lip-syncing actors) has a demon-possessed woman with a ?demonic voice?.
can anyone confirm this?
it is said to be pretty creepy sound effect and many jws are uncomfortable when they hear it.
I guess that could be creepy if you actually believe in demons and those sort of things... which I can say I really don't.
from our readers (awake!

pinatas i read with interest the article ?the pinata - an ancient tradition?
My take on this is they just want to restrict association with outsiders any way they can. This is a good way to keep JWs at odds with their family and worldy friends, which I figure is probably the motivating force behind most, if not all, of their strange rules.
No holidays & birthdays = tension with family & friends & neighbors
No college = no opportunities to be distracted with partying and new friends
No happy hour = that one's obvious, what's wrong with having a drink????
No smoking = no opportunities to strike up conversations with strange men/women
And the list goes on, I'm sure.
much entertainment in the watchtower, 15 august 2004, pg 24. see the picture for the full text to learn that we can "put off every unecessary weight" by boxing up our "hobbies and non-essential personal projects.
" i wonder what's in the box.... it is interesting to see how jws are encouraged to have hobbies:.

The thing I always think about when they come out with this lunacy is... can they disfellowship you for it? Nope. If you have elders who hate you, anything is possible. But really, what can they do to a person? Nothing. Nada.
A fresh new guilt trip, that's all it is. They've been giving the guilt trip for years to people spending excessive amounts of time watching television or using the computer, so, now they can't have a hobby either. Before, who could shame you for gardening? Well, all of you gardeners out there, watch out, you're just as bad as the couch potatoes. I never saw anybody get disfellowshipped for watching TV either, come to think of it.
They sound more like barking lunatics every day.
the message has changed.
now the message is "the society is the channel".
the end is nigh is dropped from #1 to about #5. .
That's so true. Do more, do more. They never stop saying that. I guess they are desperate to keep people distracted enough to stay on.
btw, I really enjoyed your post on the Crazy JW superstitions thread the other day, Gary. Thanks, IAGN
i recieved a 7 page "note" from my brother and his wife pleading with me to come back to jehovah god and his organization.
he said the devil was after me and my family and that the results will be disastrous unless i come back to "jehovah's protective custody".
also, it was strongly implied that unless my family went back to meetings and went out in field service, most jws, including family members would not attend my daughter's wedding and reception.my wife, daughter and i have been overtaken by the devil, according to him.
I'm sorry you ar going thru this minimus. It sounds like you are handling it pretty well, though. It's never easy, but at least you are probably in a solid place, emotionally, where you can handle it better than if he sprung this on you before you got a chance to really understand how wrong they are about everything. Who knows, maybe he will someday figure it all out and reconcile with you... At least your niece sounds like she might be on the right track.
