I always really hated the Daniel meshach & abednego story. I don't know why. It turned out ok for them. (yeah, right)
That and hearing about the birds that would eat your eyes out. I used to hate birds.

1) ants- imagine being buried in a sandpile up to your neck with sand.
along come a bunch of ants from an ant colony, and they crawl all over your head, in and out of your nose, your mouth, your ears, your eyes, and all thru your hair.
You forgot lizards - they are great.
Cockroaches and spiders freak me out a little.

i love reading everyone's opinions and seeing links to even more detailed opinions.
it has made me think though.. when i was a strong dub i thought i knew everything about the bible and couldn't wait to 'get into it' with a catholic or protestant priest.
Yeah, I felt that way, too, listener. It's really mind blowing. So many areas of our lives we probably still don't have it right. I guess you never grow until you admit to yourself you still have a lot to learn.
here in the "arctic" northeast, people are beginning to wear their sandals again.
i hate sandal season.. there are a few people with good hygeine and ok looking feet that can pull off the sandal look.
the rest should not be allowed into public without socks and shoes.. i am sick of seeing callouses, dry skin with foot flakes falling off, dirty feet, even worse--dirty toenails, toenails that have not been trimmed (i do not want to see anything but nails trimmed all the way down), corns, fungus, bunions, deformations, etc.
Else! you've got really long feet and really short toes!
as odd as this may sound i believe that your continual struggle with your past life as a jw is in fact a cover for something else - i do not know what that something else is but i am almost 100 percent certain that somehow someone or something has used your jw experience to disguise some greater violation of your souls - any thoughts?

I believe nothing in my past is a cause to be upset in the present. If I would continue to have a self-pity party over it, I just cause my own upset. I have complete control over whether I let myself do that or not. If I notice I'm doing it, I can stop it right away. No need to upset yourself over and over again by something from the past. BTW, some of us have a present life with JWs that we "struggle" with, too.
But it seems you are indicating repressed memories of abuse or something. There's no way repressed memories can cause a person to become upset. If you don't remember it, it didn't happen, as far as your emotions anyway.
I've read where some people who were abused in childhood or marriage join JWs because some of the controlling ways seem comfortable to them, even if abusive in some ways. I am almost 100% certain that can't be the story for everyone, it's probably much rarer than you imagine.
my wife just hired a new housekeeper yesterday.. she found her name in the local papers and decided to give her a call.
after checking her references my wife agreed to let her come to the house yesterday to clean on a trail basis.. over the phone she used the phrase "critical times".
this imediately set off alarms in my wife's head that this woman could be a dub.
Oh, how funny. What is that "have you enjoyed reading it" crap all about anyway? If you see someone with the newspaper, you don't ask, are you enjoying that? You ask for the sports page, or is there anything interesting going on.
Oh yeah, she won't be back.

Yeah, what is it with all these girls who think the long toe nail look (french manicured, of course) is so great? Long toenails, even well painted and polished ones, just hide disgusting smelly grossness underneath! Yuck! Even long finger nails are kind of gross to me.
I'm average at empathizing, actually more like a guy. and very low at systemizing, lower than the average woman. I don't really care how thinks work, and I think that's ok, don't you?
