Miracles...

i've noticed that they are two seperate beings entirely.

i just think about the ot circumstances, when wandering through the wilderness god guided moses and the tribe with a huge smoke cloud during the day and a pillar of fire during the night.

to prove that joshua (i believe) was to lead the people god made dew appear on a rag in the morning and no where else, then when joshua questioned again he made the opposite occur.

Good question. IMO, it's because those miracles were done away with shortly after Jesus' ransom sacrifice. I feel there is enough evidence to believe in God, and his Son, and his word, that we shouldn't need (big) miracles in our day and age.

However, perhaps there are miracles that stil occur. Life itself is no small miracle, the way we grow and learn, the way we heal after injury, etc. The myriad forms of life; how the Earth heals itself, the natural and physical laws are all miraculous in themselves.

And some people still claim they have witnessed miracles.

True. One must make a conscious choice what they will believe, based upon the information they have reasoned on, or not.

L_T, you post threads about the bible which you specifically ask non-beleivers to avoid... and to the best of my knowledge, they have. Why are you going onto threads created for discussing evolution purposely looking to simply argue against evolution? Quite honestly, isn't that a double standard?

I only made one such post so far. There was no such request in the anchor post here. Therefore, I am simply stating one reason (there are many others) why I believe Evolution is being taught. Where is it headed? It's being barraged both by scientists (big bang theory wrong, most recently) and others. This is a discussion forum, if you don't want to hear from informed people who disagree with you, why post? Sounds like mental masturbation to me, lol.

Incidentally, while I do not believe in evolution, and have good reason for believing as I do, even if it were someday proven to be factual, (provided one believes God caused it be so), it has no bearing on our salvation. So, I should mention that not all who believe in evolution theory believe exactly what is taught by mainstream evolutionists- that God had nothing to do with the Creation.

I would not call that belief, however, true "Evolution Theory". It sounds more like a slant on Creationism to me.

Love_Truth- of the "I'll believe otherwise only when new evidence is revealed that proves me wrong" class.

In the usa, that is not the situation at all among evolutionists. From what i can see, evolutionists and humanists, see themselves and their own opinion as supreme. That is certainly my own attitude, although there are things which i don't fully understand, and so don't have a final conclusive opinion.

I would not dispute that it is the individual in the US and similar societies that makes the decision what they personally believe. However, in reference to Government, if your beliefs clash with those of the Government, you may find yourseld being punished by the Government for your insistence on practicing your beliefs, rather than the Government's. Also, when we vote, we vote for what we perceiove to be the "lesser evil". So none of us truly gets their way,. In other words, the Government ultimately makes the rules. In general, if one believes in God, and His word, they will have a strong enough conviction to hold the Government in a lesser class of power and authority than one who who does not believe in God and his word, thus, Government becomes the ultimate authority to non-believers. That is the point of secular teaching of evolution theory as virtual fact, and I am not at all alone in that conclusion.

I do agree that brainwashing, while being reduced due to a more educated proletariat, is still widely used, and has been refined and redefined in the last 50 yrs.

Absolutely. The evidence is overwhelming. The media, organized religion, and academic institutions are all tools of the trade.

Can a false religion perform a legal marriage?

if every other religion is false, why does the watchtower recognize marriages performed in other churches?

example: if you get baptized in another faith, the watchtower will say that it isn't the real baptism that leads to salvation.

so why does the watchtower recognize a marriage performed by a false relgion, and not the baptism performed by the same church?

As to what the WTC believes, I can't answer, nor do I care to. However, here is a reasonable expalnation for doing so in any religion.

There are two definitions of marriage:

1)-The "religious" marriage, wherein a man and a woman are joined together in a loving (obviously, such unions could be non-loving as well, for numerous reasons) monogamous relationship, first instituted by God. No pomp or ceremony is necessary although such usually accompanies the marriage. Ideal definition- two heterosexuals who love one another and make the commitment to live with one another monogamously.

2)- The "legal" marriage, wherein a man and a woman are joined together in a (loving or not) monogamous relationship in the eyes of the Government.

So, in the eyes of God, it's possible to have 1 without the other.

Nice play on words(not). The obvious reasons why "Government approved by God" was abandoned is that "Government without God" works better in a modern literate society. The Bible is now available for the masses to read, and those who do read it and place faith in God know that He is the "Higher Authority", not man-made Government. It was much easier to have the populace believe that the Government was "God approved" in days when the Bible was not widely available or understood by personal reading and study.

Now, on the subject of those who place their faith in modern Government. By eliminating the Bible and God (in practical terms) from the Governmental policy making process, politicians have found a plethora of new relevant "issues" to get votes cast for them. Homosexuality, abortion, etc, are all fair game to support (or not support) when running for office. If there were no question in the minds of many (due to believing evolution theory) that God created us, these issues would not be debatable.

But, since belief in evolution has been instilled in the minds of many by Government approved secular programming, the Government, not God, (in the minds of these brainwashed believers in evolution theory), is the ultimate judge of right and wrong, of what shall be and not be.

Love_Truth- chooses wisely.

PS- The double standard on this board is really revolting. The first Posting Guideline is "Insulting, threatening or provoking language". I'd say your dismantling of my moniker, amounts to a violation of that guideline.

Evolution- just another theory without adequate proof.

The reason Evolution theory was, and is, taught as virtual fact is this-

Political sytems benefit greatly from having their citizenry place their faith in the Government, not God. If a citizen believes evolution, he does not believe that God created us or that he has a special purpose for us. Our lives only have the meaning(s) that Government says they do. There is no "Higher Power" greater than Government under Evolutionism, which is nothing more than secular religion. There are so many holes in the swiss-cheese evolution theory that have been expounded on in great detail elsewhere that I will not repeat them here.

Bottom line is that if you choose to believe in evolution theory, you have played into the hands of Government. I feel sorry for you.

Love_Truth- We all have to have faith in something, choose wisely.

Did You Ever Tell An Elder Something Confidential Only To Hear It Blabbed??

elders are supposed to maintain confidentiality.

if they don't, they can be deleted as elders.

still, one of the biggest complaints that i can recall from some in the congregation, was that elder so-and-so told his wife or another ms that someone had a problem or had to be counseled.....did it ever happen to you?

Happens all the time- usually through the following route, as far as I have seen:

1- Elder is told something confidential (the secret).

2- Elder tells wife.

3- Elder's wife tells "confidants" while in field service or whatever.

4- "Confidants" tell their "confidants".

5a- Every busybody in the KH and surrounds has now been told the secret.

5b- There will always be those in the KH who refuse to believe the secret, even though they have heard it.

6- Elder is never reprimanded, or at worst gets a slap on the wrist.

7- Repeat steps 1 through 6 ad naseum
