one of the latest announcement letters from the wts is that people should attend special.

classes setup for the purpose of preaching to foreign language communities.

I remember one sister taking care of her dying mother (mother not a JW) who lamented that she could not count the time she took care of her, because she felt she was doing a good work and she was upset because she was not getting much field service time in because she was so exhausted being a caretaker and this made her feel guilty. But I suppose the Org considers picking vegetables for the Org more worthwhile than caring for your dying mother.

Funny that these stats show up in the hours preached world wide--picking vegetables is a far stretch from preaching in my book.

It is they themselves who have said it. How did we know the the WTS/FDS was from God ? because they told us they were over and over again until we thought we believed it ourselves.

Blondie, is this a side comment or did the WT really say that everyone not a dedicated, baptized JW will be destroyed? If so, they are not sounding very loving these days--well, I suppose they never did, but going back to it now it seems glaringly so.

In addition to this pressure to conform, is the threat that God himself will kill the child, if he or she should go against their parent?s wishes. The child is also puzzled by the parent?s willingness to lose them in this way and often concludes that the parents do not love him or her. How can they threaten a child they love in this way, or say that the God they love may kill their child? As a child I concluded that I meant very little to my parents. Not all Witness parents act in this way. Those that do, say that they are practising a form of principled love for the child. Unfortunately children do not interpret threats of his kind as love. Nor as far as I know do most adults.

The above is a good paragraph and applies to everyone who has experienced the JW "conditional love" program.

I wasn't raised as a JW, but sadly I raised my daughter as one and the thing she hated the most was not being able to associate with other kids. She was a good kid and smart too and it was hard for her (and me too) to understand why she could not associate with other kids who were truly nice studious upstanding intelligent individuals (Instead of most of the morons back at the KH) Several of the JW kids she grew up with turned out to be bad eggs and these were the ones who were supposed to be her closest companions? thank goodness we got out , but she does mention once in a while that it is sad not to have any friends at all from childhood (the ones left in the Org have mostly dropped her since she left). She is in her 20s now and making nice friends now outside of the Org, but I regret that she missed that opportunity in childhood... I regret that I didn't see the truth of the matter sooner.

Why the WTS hates the Internet

the wts & its various corporations are a behemoth, rudderless ship with no one at the helm; only concerned with self-preservation.

the result is an inflexible organization slow to make change and not interested in the welfare & rights of individual members.. the internet and boards such as this allow for excellent communication and freedom of information.. because the internet is free and provides relative anonymity it has proven to be one of the greatest threats to the wts.. the wts leaders could be proactive and act in an ethical way, but they'd rather react when a perceived "threat" arises -- telling members to avoid the internet, shun family members, do more/stay busy, and so on.. as jt used to say, "i love this 'net thang".

OK, to me this proves that the WT knows they don't have the "truth." I mean if it was really the "truth" there would be nothing to fear as the facts stand up for themselves and the lies could be proven to be lies. Can you disprove that the WT was involved with the UN? etc etc etc. The facts speak for themselves and could be proven wrong if they were wrong. By the fact that the WT makes such a bit hoot about it appears as if the WT is indeed hiding something...

No doubt the majority of those who attend the Memorial each year are regular readers of Awake! Still, if anyone hopes to be concealed in "the day of Jehovah's anger," he will need help to do more than be a regular reader of our publications. -- Zeph. 2:3; Rev. 14:6, 7.

This paragraph got me the most.

First of all they say that "millions of people enjoy reading the Awake!" (then why in the heck take their enjoyment away from them) If it is so popular why discontinue it?

Then it says "No doubt the majority of those who attend the Memorial each year are regular readers of the Awake!" (So, again why are they discontinuing it?)

I think the clencher is this last statement "Still if anyone hopes to be concealed in "the day of Jehovah's anger," he will need help to do more than be a regular reader of our publications. (In otherwords, too many people are just reading our publications and that is not profitable to us unless they join the organization and contribute to the organization by becoming mindless borg drone workers for the organization.)

"The day of Jehovah's anger" is brought out to put a bit of fear into the JW collective to not just be readers of the publications, but to get busy and make more converts so they in turn can save themselves from destruction.

Anyway, that's the way I read it.

THE INFORMATION AGE AND NEW JW MARKETING CHANGES

lately on this board there has been a couple of threads that show how much the watchtower is being effected by the open communication of the internet and web sites like this one.

they are changing long time policy and trying new ways of getting their religious product to the market.

no longer do their leaders hear the voice of god and then pass it directly on as unwavering guidance to their customers.

Exploiting minorities and ignorance is the same exact market drug dealers exploit. Escaping reality is a real profitable market--YES!

Where are JW's most vulnerable?

what's the more effective method to try to open the dormant organ most jw's have as a brain?

is it tackling them on biblical issues and inconsistencies, for instance the "great crowd" dilemma from revelation, or the isaiah "new world" problem recently posted by leolaia?

is it the blood issue, either based on a scriptural attack or else a humanistic "value-of-life" approach?

This is a good topic and hope that someone gives me some answers here. It seems as if nothing gets through to a hard core dub--they believe that everything that you say against the Org is a lie and that their faith is being tested. This makes no sense at all. The facts should speak for themselves. If these things against the WT are lies then they should be able to be proven as falsehoods--thus further strengthening ones faith in the WT religion. But the WT doesn't want its members to look and see and that is why all the warnings: The dangers of the internet! Turn away from anyone who is speaking against the WT! If the WT was not afraid that it would be proven wrong then why all the paranoia?

I would say personally I got sick of the prejudice--tired of the hatred against any one and anything not JW approved...tired of the nit-picking and judgement...tiredof the hate-hate-hate..

God's intervention or.....an apostates?

i was reading the post about god's intervention on the last page.

( started a new one to be on current page) anyway, the question was wether or not god intervines in peoples lives.

i have never believed that he does in our time.

But then again sometimes they really twist it up and tell you that good things are from Satan. For example: when a faithful JW is offered a higher paying job--this could be a temptation from Satan to drag them into a materialistic lifestyle. I personally didn't tell a lot of JWs when something good came my way (some sort of success in life) thinking that these good things would be judged as temptations from Satan. Some in the congo did judge others for their accomplishments in life--a justification for their jealously I'm sure. JWs are taught to think in many twisted directions...

Aloha Franki,

Sorry you are going through such anxiety. Most people here have had similiar experiences. It takes a while to remove yourself from the Org especially if you were raised in it, as the programming and conditioning is deep. Once you find out that the JW religion is a cult and how you have been manipulated by it all these years it helps to disconnect, but it is still not easy. Seek out people who offer their un-conditional love and support you for the person you are. If you can get some therapy that is good too. Find a therapist that has had experience with those exiting from cults. It is a process, but there are a lot of people here who understand and would like to help. I have been visiting this board for a year now, partly because I like the people here, partly because they are the only ones who truly understand the situation. I also want to be here to offer support to those who are in the middle of situations such as you are. Any advice I can give that can ease someones pain is well worth the time and effort. I was a JW for 20 years of my adult life, so I can relate to much of it. Lots of people here were also raised as JWs. It was also comforting to know that many thousands are leaving the Org each year--whole families and many of them end up here and on other support boards (why the WT doesn't want it's member cruzing the internet). Some of these were elders and POs and most of them sincerely nice people who just couldn't stand the lies and abuse any longer. You are not crazy--you are not alone. Glad you found this site,

The Young Witness Exodus Continues

i just found out that , on my wife's side of the family, the last witness kid has given up!.

he was the very last one in that half of our extended witness family.

It was downright painful to sit there and watch the kids at the last congo I attended. Right before I moved there the congo had a big cleanup and 5 kids had been Dfd. There were very few young ones left. One elders son sat there either chewing madley on is fingers or just sitting there with his face red and rigid and his jaw clenched. The other son hung his head down starring at the floor and looking like his dog had just died. Another elder's daughter picked her pimples a lot and one night after the meeting her mother chewed her out right in front of me and told her she should listen closer to what was said instead of sitting there and pickiing her pimples. she turned bright red got tears in her eyes and ran outside to the car. I felt horrible and could hardly carry on conversation with the mom after that. There was one DFd son who was forced to go to the meetings because he had moved back in with his parents because he was recovering from drug addiction and they would only let him move back in with them if he promised to go to meetings and with a look of total misery you could tell he didn't want to be there. I could just look around and see that none of them were going to last in there--someday they will all be gone--either that or they will kill themselves--it was that bad...
