for those of you not "keeping up with the organization"botchtower deals soley with all the bullshit instances of "increased light" on this joke of a religion god's organization.

it asks many drone-like thought-provoking questions as i've listed below.

incredible that these guys claim to be the sole ownership of what is absolute "truth", yet change doctrines like i change lipsticks.

The reinstatement thing might make a bit of sense. It is change they could sneak in without making too many waves.

Being that they are losing so many young ones to "the world" and they hardley ever return maybe they are going to make it easier for them to return to the flock. Maybe they will say that it would be OK talk to them at the meetings now (encourage them). I always thought that it was not very encouraging for those Dfd who made the effort to come to the meetings and then no one would speak to them when they were there--who wants to come back to that treatment?

A policy change like this could open up the way for some other changes, which could make the Org more appealing to the general market, since they are losing a lot of customers with their current doctrines. Either that or they are going to clamp down even harder keeping on with the hard line.

My letter of annulment. LOL I am going to tell everyone it worked.

i have posted below my letter of annulment for anyone that wants to use it.

they said that they would not honour it because i was baptised for too long and had entered pioneering and bethel.

however, i know of several people where annulment did work, but generally if they were baptised for only a couple of years and had not accepted 'privileges".

This is a brilliant idea.

Right now I am a successful fader, but if this changes I may use the annulment argument. Another point I have is that I was baptized before 85 and the vows were changed in 1985. I didn't agree to the new contract and much of the original contract (doctrines) have now been changed.

What can we learn from Paul's example

that can help us to be more effective in our preaching and teaching?

It was so rare that anyone came into the Org through the door to door ministry. In the last 5 years I was involved I can count only a few people who were baptized from the "field." A man who had been on drugs and then went back on drugs and was Dfd. An older woman who was a serious alcoholic, who dried up for a bit (maybe) and got baptized and is now no longer a witness and back to being an alcoholic again. There was another older man who was learning disabled and he died shortly after he was baptized. Besides there were the witness kids who got baptized--all before 18 and 95% of those have left now. Most of these kids were raised JW and had been extensively trained in the doctrine, so you can see how un-effective the JW teaching program has been even amongst its own. And, hey we all left too... The WT is losing it.

The WT has been trying to market themselves in the US in non-English speaking market, but there are only a handful of JWs who are attempting to learn a foreign tongue to reach these ones. There are fewer and fewer zealous JWs these days in the US, where I believe most of the WT donations come from. The economy here is down and people are working more to make ends meet. In general JWs do not have the best paying jobs being that the majority don't have the education. The mormons will out live the JWs. Not because their doctrine is any better, but because they do encourage higher education--the Brigham Young University is a top notch institution. Lots of financially successful mormons out there who continue to donate to their religious cause. The WT has built its house of very flimsy material and will continue to have less and less support amongst its followers--financially and otherwise.

I remember the 10 men grabbing onto the skirts of the Jew scripture scripture being presented to me when I was first studying with the JW, as proof of the annointed class and the great crowd. Before I was converted to being a JW and my mind was still in questioning mode I wondered how they could take an obscure scripture like this and figure that meaning into it. So, I did question and when I did the answers to my questions were given other answers of obscurtiy, but with with the conviction of the already converted. After awhile I learned that those who question are not acceptable and viewed as fools, so I stopped questioning in order that I would appear wise and be acceptable too. This is when I became a fool.

Exactly, this is the only way the WT can continue to perpetuate itself--new recruits to make new recruits..

And , we all know the way to salvation is to distribute WT literature. I wonder what would happen to a JW who used only their bible when preaching and teaching? Would they be reprimanded for this? I would like to see what would happen if this was the case. Anyone out there on their way out of the Org, but still involved who wants to try this? I think the results could be note-worthy.

How can anyone understand?

i have a question that not many people would understand.

i have faith that despite how crazy it sounds, most on this board will probably know what i am talking about though.

i'm on the path to leaving this cult that has been a part of my life for more than 27 years.

Justmedude--it's never too late to make some new friends.

And, you will be surprised how much people are understanding of the whole cult experience--even ones who have not been JW. In the past few months (after about 21/2 years of exiting JWs ) I have been more open about my JW past with new people I meet. Had a great conversation with a friend the other day. I expressed to her about the difficulties I have at times because of my years of belonging to a high controlling religious group. She was very supportive and understanding and had some great insight and gave me some new perspective on the subject. I also shared my experience with an group I hang out with one day when we were talking about religion. I just mentioned that I had been a member of a high controlling religious group for several years (nobody even asked me what group) but most understood as some had been raised Catholic or whatever and had their horror stories too. I think part of letting it go is to stop being secret about it and to share yourself and you stories with others--you'll be surprised at the insight some of them will give you.

That they are the most kindest, loving, people in the world who are the only ones who truly follow the commandment to love God and love your neighbor as yourself. But then they believe that their neighbor is wicked-evil-worldly-Satan worshipping-soon to be destroyed at the big "A"--baaaaddddd association and not to be associated with.

If they truly love their neighbors as themselves how much do they truly love themselves? Very twisted indeed.

Panic Crisis after talking to JW

it's very strange what happened to me those days.

right now im leaving the borg and moving from my appart(im with a pioneer).

im keeping myself informed and right now im reading crisis of conscience by raymond franz.

Genesis...It does get better with time. At first II felt like I was coming off of a bad drug, especially when I had contact with JWs. I sought help of a therapist who had experience with those who had left cults. The WT (as other controlling relgions) use some powerful conditioning tecniques, but the patterns can be broken. I still find it is best to avoid Jws as much as possible and this gets easier with time also because JWs do not want to be around those who are "inactive" in the faith. They are trained to avoid such ones and I think it is easier for them to do so because it shakes them up too. I think most realize deep down that it is all BS, but they are still chosing to stay in the trance for one reason or another--fear being a big one.

I wish you well and my only suggestion is to get there and live your dreams and when you begin to do this the WT will start to fade into the distance.

Local Needs - Disfellowshipped in the family, how to treat...........

this weeks local needs basically (summed up) told us not to speak to family members that are disfellowshipped unless they live in your house, and this conversation is very necessary.

also you cannot attend funerals, and weddings, etc.. how sorry i felt for the disfellowshipped one in our hall, and the parents (everyone knew who the talk was about).. to make it even worse, after the talk was over there was another part, and then the song was to follow.... well before the song/prayer the presiding overseer went on stage for another 10 minutes, re-emphasing the local needs talk the other elder has done.. during the prayer... i was praying to whatever god is up there to make these arsewipes pay for what they are doing.

those 2 minutes of prayer were getting me close to crying/screeming.

Wha???? How can you prevent someone from attending the funeral of a close relative or friend and for what purpose does this accomplish to anyone? How absolutley cruel. Is this a new rule or one of those unspoken WT rules

Yes, and I knew a young adult Dfd man who had to move back in with his nutty JW parents briefly because he was homeless. they parents made a point of letting everyone know that he was mostly resticted to his room and was not allowed to sit and eat with them or watch TV with them....I was on my way out of the Org then and their behavior was so disturbing to me. The young man moved out and fell into a deeper depression also drugs and alcohol. He had already been in a mental hospital earlier before he was Dfd. He was very troubled and needed some comfort, care and love, but instead the WT religion encouraged his family to treat him abusively. That is just plain evil.

" there is no such thing.

love must be earned--it is not something given with no strings attached.

Ideals, such as unconditional love, are something to aspire to - life goals - not something we humans can expect just to have or to give.
So it is not a question of whether some people love unconditionally, it is more about how better the world would be if this was even our goal. Just my clumsy two-penneth.
