Guess i was always a bit "worldly" as the JWs called it because i maintained my non-JW friendships over the years...Many of these were like family to me and it didn't make any sense to shut them out, besides that they were way more interesting than any of my new JW friends and continued to be so over the years. They were also a whole lot more supportive than the JW ones in the long run. They were probably part of my JW downfall, because when I looked at them over the years compared with my JW friends they were a whole lot more loving and normal. Now I am out and can enjoy these worldlings even more than I did before--in fact i have to keep myself from gushing over them at this point in my life. I love them more for hanging in with me through my crazy JW period of life--they are made of some pretty strong stuff to endure that. I LOVE THEM ALL....gush...gush

lessons in love from the faithful and discreet
by galaxy7 ingod certainly realizes that carrying out his righteous laws about cutting off wrongdoers often involves and affects relatives.
as mentioned above, when an israelite wrongdoer was executed, no more family association was possible.
in fact, if a son was a drunkard and a glutton, his parents were to bring him before the judges, and if he was unrepentant, the parents were to share in the just executing of him, 'to clear away what is bad from the midst of israel.

God certainly realizes that carrying out his righteous laws about cutting off wrongdoers often involves and affects relatives. As mentioned above, when an Israelite wrongdoer was executed, no more family association was possible. In fact, if a son was a drunkard and a glutton, his parents were to bring him before the judges, and if he was unrepentant, the parents were to share in the just executing of him, 'to clear away what is bad from the midst of Israel.' (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) You can appreciate that this would not have been easy for them. Imagine, too, how the wrongdoer's brothers, sisters, or grandparents felt. Yet, their putting loyalty to their righteous God before family affection could be lifesaving for them.
Wow--this part about helping to kill your own children because they had an alcohol problem or an eating disorder (both illnesses). AND, the part about worshipping a righteous God who requires this of his followers in order to be pleasing to him. So, what this is saying here is that God won't preserve your life unless you cooperate in killing your loved ones who are weak in some way or another. How loving is that? I want to cry here...This is inhuman.

my first post in this forum
by trumangirl inhello, just introducing myself.
i'm an inactive witness, been so for a few months now.
got put off mostly by 1914 being hammered more and more lately, the child molestation issue, the un-ngo thing and just feeling like i don't want to shoot my mouth off and get labelled apostate so best to fade out.

welcome trumangirl I am a newbie myself--also doing the fade thing. I have learned a lot exploring around on this site--until a few weeks ago I didn't know this sort of thing existed--thought these kind of sites were for foaming at the mouth apostates. I think most here are looking for the same thing--a little understanding and validation of what happened to them when they were part of the Org. I am here seeking support and comfort from ones who understand some of what I have been through. I think there is a truly unique connection between the people who use this website. Only those who have truly been in the middle of the Org can appreciate and understand the twists and turns and many pitfalls of our WT experience.

I have noticed themes that run through life like the many threads and curds that bind us. I have a friend who collects toothbrushes (don't ask). He once told me about a special one he got over in Denmark (or some place like that). A few days later I found one of the dame brushes in my local pharmacy down on the bottom shelf in a dusty box in the corner. A couple of weeks later my sister found the same toothbrushes at another off the wall dented-can store. It had been years since my friend had bought his toothbrush in a foreign country You could call this fate or a miracle I suppose. hmmm...

What Would A Jehovah's Witness Romance Novel Be Like?
by minimus ini was reading in the religion page of the newspaper today that the mormons are enjoying romance novels in which descriptions of the characters' sex lives are limited to little more the first kiss--- that could happen after they are engaged to be married........any ideas of what a jw romance novel might be like?

WOW, this topic has really sparked some interest. Seems like everyone is just dying for a little romance in this world.
JW romance? I knew of one couple who met through letter writing and this was looked upon as a most honorable affair and used as a fine example to all young ones who were thinking of--well you know (how embarrassing it is to think that some might actually want to see each other in person--blush blush) . This fine and upstanding letter writing couple eventually married. I guess they liked the way each other crossed their "T's and dotted their "I...s" Pretty racey stuff, huh?

I'm new around these parts--so what does R&F mean, by the way?
Otherwise, I appreciated you sharing this experience with us--it was most upbuilding.
(ha-ha sorry about my language I haven't been out that long)
Seriously, good job--hope you have helped at least one of the JWs to "awake".
It is hard not to scream this stuff from the rooftops, but that is difficult as I have chosen to do "the fade" in order to hang on to a couple of JW family relationships for as long as possible.

YES and thank you to all! I had been inactive for about a year and hurting really bad. Even though I use to the internet a lot I never went to any sites that were not JW approved thinking I would find foaming at the mouth evangelical apostates out there. I was so relieved when I finally had the nerve to look around and see if there happened to be any out there that felt like I did. I needed validation and I got it all from you all and your experiences. Now I know my thinking was not totally off and that I was not the horrible wicked person that I was lead to believe I was. It has helped me greatly to know that others felt the same and went through much of the same garbage that I did. Reading others suggestions helped me too. Others told about their experiences of what they had been through and the mistakes they made when leaving--I have contemplated their examples and used many of their suggestions and have faired better than I would've on my own. THANK YOU!

All the talk about having a "personal" relationship with God and making the truth your own...But then not trusting your heart because it was more treacherous than anything and desperate too. So how then could you make the truth your own if you couldn't trust yourself? How can you trust God if you can't trust yourself that you can trust God? How can you have a personal relationship with God when the GB is standing in the way? What a maze of confusion...
