  and we feel sad and angered after this incident we are likely to say that our friend made us feel sad and angry.

  Languages and takes on different meaning at different times in different cultures. Does the word brainwashing apply to what the WT does to its followers? For the record I asked my physcologist this question yesterday. (He is well educated and has dealt much with helping people who have left cults-- and has 30 years of practice under his belt). He said yes, the word brainwashing is one word that is used--along with the word conditioning in regard to people who have been manipulated by religion or otherwise. Hilter used a form of this with his propaganda, which led people to do horrendous things that they would not have normally done, which the country still apologizes for this day.

  Their constant repeated messages--their long droning speaches certainly put many of us into a trancelike state of mind.

  The WT Org wants their members to hear their voice only and then to LISTEN AND OBEY.

  Well, they don't use a pendulum to hypnotize us or a lot of physical torture (though sitting in chairs for hours at a time was rather uncomfortable) but it still sounds like the old description of brainwashing to me.

  Thanks elsewhere for posting the article...I remember all too well that 2002 KM about not socializing with your relatives. There was a family in my congo who took it to the extreme and would not allow their Dfd son who lived at home to eat at the table with them or watch television with the family--he had to stay in his room! I was also sad about my nephews who were Dfd (away from home) and missing their mom, but because their step-Dad had the "position" of minesterial servant he had to be an example to the congo and could lose him privleges if they communicated too much with my sister's boys, so neither does she. I was mentally on my way out of the Org at that point in time and sitting through articles like this was pure torture. Just reading through that assembly program was enough to send me into a funk.

  the term "brainwashing" is sometimes thrown around this forum and i thought i'd briefly comment on it.

  the idea that a group or person can actually make you think, act and feel in a certain way is highly dubious.

  i'm not saying it's impossible, but i highly doubt that any ex-jws have ever experienced "brainwashing.

  I still hear a word like pioneer or any other JW catch-phrase and I have a flashback. When I first left the Org, whenever the elders would try to talk to me I would start to shake. I felt ill when I was contacted or spoken to my any JWs. (I still do to some extent) . I still catch myself saying things and thinking in a JW way of thinking. I have nightmares involving the JWs. I have had to get rid of all most of the things in my house related to my JW days because seeing them flashes me back to JW land.

  I think that sitting for hours and hours listening to the same old same old information over and over again, which was presented to us in a way that it manipulated our emotions and fed on our fears was a form of brainwashing. My shrink calls it "conditioning" and I have personally experienced some extreme symtoms of that "conditioning" since leaving the Org (post traumatic stress syndrome) . I guess you can call it whatever you want to whether it be brainwashing or "conditioning", but it was most definitely a form of mental and emotional manipulation and it has had a major impact on my being.

  Welcome...Your subject is one very close to my heart

  One of the reasons I became a JW was on account on suffering from post partum depression (please look into this as a factor in what could be influencing your emotions.) My daughter had just been born and I was overly anxious over her well being and many other things too (majorly postpartum). Some JWs came to my door and I started to study with them. One of their hook like was "you want to do what is best for your baby don't you? (and then telling me that all who were not JW would die at the big A). Of course I wanted the best for my child. Likewise the JW religion fed the rest of my paranoias at the time.

  The years went by and my non-believing hubby and I raised her to the best of our ability and she grew up to be a really great person ,but not a JW. Long story but in the end I had to leave before this Organization destroyed my loving family. I know too many JWs who no longer have their children (they did not become JWs or were Dfd). I beg you to investigate this organization. I am glad I got out with my family intact. Give your kids the best--your unconditional love. All the best to you,

  Subliminal Drawings

  hi, i'm new to the forum, have been reading as a guest, its good to know your not the only one going through so many complicated emotions, i'm not in a position to give any advice on how to get out of the borg as i'm not out yet due to 3 generations of family all whom are still devoted and having a hard time weighing up all the possiblities/outcomes of trying to get free, but at least my hubby of 19 years and i are on the same journey and have made sure that our kids are slowly reprogrammed to normal life.

  having read all the ray franz, carl johnson books and gone through emotions of shock, anger and disbelief at the mind control we have been under when i always regarded myself as a fairly intelligent person, but when ordering a book on line about jehovahs witnesses and the problem of mental illness and getting a free book thrown in with it, titled jehovahs witnesses and the hour of darkness, with undeniable proof of the societys subliminal images in their supposedly beautiful drawings, wow what a shock to get out bookstudy books and see them everywhere, our kids can actually find them quicker than us, what more proof is their of dangerous mind control, for every meeting we still attend and most publications i look at, there they are, has anyone else read this book?

  Nice website, but truthfully I don't see these much in most of these images that I would classify as intentional, though I have seen a few illustrrations that appear to have intentional subliminal messages in them--My opionion is that these are created by someone suffering from boredom in the art department. I don't really think a lot of the illustrations need to contain any subliminal images--most clearly paint a picture of what the WT is leading people to believe.

  Neither persecution incited by opposers nor complacency displayed by those to whom we preach will silence us. Showing zeal (which JWs have not been)?impelled to continue declaring the good news with boldness. We have a responsibility to warn people of Jehovah?s coming judgment.

  I remember years ago when we had the decree at an assembly and some sort of a campaign and we were told that this would be the final warning to those involved in Babylon the great. I remember going out door with some who really took this mesage to heart and really laid it on the householder (I was never that bold) After that we were back to the message about God's kingdom being the panacea for all of mankind's woes. Sounds like they are going back to the old hard line message again. Don't know why they think this will work now when it never worked before. Threatening and judging people is not a good way to entice them into joining an already unpopular religion. The Org is losing it. Do I sense a new book study publication on the book of Amos in the works? I predict they will lose a few more if that is the case. I really lost it half way through the study of the Isaiah book--what a bunch of boring nonsense that was.

  i understand there is a ton of anger out there toward the wts and dub's, and rightly so... what i don't understand is this notion that there is an evil conspiracy on the part of the wts and dubs as individuals to subjugate and control the unwary (or however you want to label us) for some evil sinister purpose.

  i know what they are doing and agree it's wrong but to what purpose- i mean you can look at televangelist and see what's up with them (follow the money).

  but what's up with the dub's.

  I think I've figured it out- the JWs are nothing more than a modern version of the old Jewish nation (Pharisees and all!). Show me where they don't parallel each other.

  Yes, there is much gnat straining and camel gulping going on there.

  I believe the WT Organization has some corruption going on in its upper levels (and some slick lawyers too). The organization has been divided and reorganized in the past few years, which appears to be a move to secure their finances in protection of the WT not losing anything over the many lawsuits involving child molesting and other practices that have caused their members harm (the blood doctrine). It's hard to take a neutral stand towards the WT Org when so many have been injured by it and continue to suffer under its regime. It appears that the WT Org is way more concerned with protecting its assets than its members. This is what makes them irreprehesible to me (a word used much by the WT). With all of that I feel sorry for the individual members who are still trapped in there by an Organization that plays on their fears and insecurities. Personally I am here because I want to see this Organization exposed in order to prevent any more victims from joining up or to help others who would like to see their way out. Many I am sounding a bit radical here, but I have personally experienced a lot of pain under the WT rulership and many others have too. I am not though a foaming at the mouth opposer. I quietly leave those alone who are "happy" with their WT Organization religion.
