Something I just want to share.
by oscar inone of the elderly sisters in my moms hall just passed away she was around 95 she was such an active witness all her years i remember from a young boy and she was always talking about how near armaggedon was ,anyway i bumped into her at the hall a few years back and she was around 90 and she was telling me how she can't believe how armagedon did not come yet and that when she was a young girl the org.
was telling her it was right around the corner anyway after all that hope she never saw it , it made me sad that she passed and how the years fly by.anyways i just wanted to share this with everyone.

thanks for sharing that......a sad story and one that, has occured/ is occuring/ will occur, many times over again....sigh
I remember as one of my early 'trigger' points out of the org, the thought of so many people never having children (but they wanted to) and not preparing for retirement, because of false expectations inflamed by the org. People in their old age delivering flyers (not that there's anything wrong with that lol) to make ends meet....sheesh. Something didn't seem right about all of it though it would take many years before it and all the other reasons would give me the strength to leave....

a simple synopsis as you can see may involve people giving you reasonable conclusions (see ajwexelder) or silly hollow fluff (see 'scholar'). The fact that scholar is extremely deceitful in saying his synopsis of jonssons understanding is based on a word in a scripture immediately discredits him/her irrepairably for me. Uhhh, bullsh*t is another word for what he suggested.
If you want to be informed...order carl olaf jonsson's books and read up! They are very well written, have the 'ring of truth' and show very conclusively that the 'oppositions' pitiful reasoning regarding 607, 1914, or any other jw 'chronology' is very messed up like virtually all other apocalyptic sects. You KNOW this is true when the SOCIETY itself does not refute the EVIDENCE but resorts to trying to discredit ALL secular sources for ancient dating (see appendix 14 of 'Let Your Kingdom Come', EXCEPT those which seem to support SOME of their dates EXCEPT these sources also bring much great SUPPORT to the 587/586 date for Nebuchadzezzars 18/19th year of rule.
The above ALONE is all that is needed for the 'rank & file', and all the other NON-scholars (like me) to reason for themselves that the jw understanding is seriously flawed and is cascading towards total failure in the future! However, I still continue to read and learn the whole picture to be better informed so I can consider all the relevant information.

Elder Explains NGO Issue...Now It Is Clear!

faded for 7 years, former ministerial servant, blah blah blah.
i think the reason i did it is that she reminded me of my mom and she caught me at a weak moment.

when i attend an elders school in escondito,,ca i think it was maybe 1992 (r maybe it was later in central ca not sure of that detail) samuel herd (then a do) and merlton campbell (sevice dept.
) conducted the school.

really, this shouldn't be a problem for them to do go overtime.....its their organization, they can do whatever they want...
I remember glen howe at canada bethel going overtime as much as he bloody well wanted to when it was his turn for morning worship comments (normally only 1 minute if I remember correctly), and no one would stop him in the slightest.....ahhhh membership (at the top of canada's jw legal team) has its privileges.....

Stumbling
by larc instumbling is a term i never understood.
let's suppose i robbed a bank and a witness was a witness to my crime.
would they decide to the same thing?

apparently, the 'weak' can be stumbled by pretty much anyone...especially if its the prominent or 'strong' ones doing something 'stumbling'....yet the 'weak' should know better and not allow themselves to be stumbled!
its circular and I agree with those who said it is a control mechanism which is why I plan to use it against THEM if I am questioned on my 'fade' - standard reply will be - 'I've been terribly stumbled however, it wouldn't be right for me to discuss it with you.' Short and sweet.
In a sense its true....I've been stumbled from this organization by the men at the top and all they have built up once I got to know the REAL truth!

watchtower / united nations documents..help needed
by jorL inthere are a lot of websites that have the scans that prove the watchtower joined the u.n.. .
it is enough for most to see this- however some of us have friends/relatives who are still "plugged-in" and seeing a downloaded scan ( which are a bit fuzzy) with a web-address from websites that are clearly ex-jw completely deflate the value - since they "can't be authentic- they're from apostates>>>!!!--".
are there ways to get an ngo book?

I realize you're looking for a hardcopy of some of the UN NGO scandal info. However, as some have posted above, all the valid information is on the official UN website, and remember, the watchtower society has NOT denied they were an NGO! The question for any JW shouldn't be - Were they an NGO associated with the UN? but WHY and HOW could this happen?

to a thread in which I posted the official UN links for 3 seperate and important pieces of the WTS NGO UN scandal. As well, there is a link to the original article from the Guardian (UK online newspaper) which exposed the wts involvement as a NGO. Just scroll down on the first page to my post.
There are other links too that show that the wts claim it was for a 'library card' and that 'we quit being an NGO after the requirements changed' as a smokescreen and untrue. (those links are not official UN links)
