What Made You Realize The WTBTS Was NOT The Truth

my wife is a jw.. i've been trying to point out the errors of the wtbts but she just doesnt want to hear it.. i'm wonder if some people could share your turning point in regards to your relationship goes.

I am sorry to hear of the marital strife HER stance has caused to come inbetween your relationship. Perhaps that is a great initial indication of why the way the jws believe is WRONG - CONDITIONAL LOVE! I don't believe jesus taught CONDITIONAL love.

To answer your question more personally though: I was drifting away for years disillusioned after being at bethel (for just over a year) and particularly after reading the bible for the first time cover to cover while there. This brought home to me just how far 'out' there, their belief system is and how it so clearly contradicts the bible on many points. To have to do the scriptural gymnastics they must do to support thier often unreasonable and illogical doctrines is a give away that it is NOT the truth.

The truth (if there is one) should be simple, have the ring of 'truth' and even the most uneducated should 'get it' imo. Very few jws could ever sufficiently and scripturally explain and prove jw doctrine using ONLY the bible imo. Thus, they would be no different than many 'householders' at the doors who are blown away by the message they preach since they present the illusion of 'bible knowledge' which in the end is mostly a lot of fluff and showmanship. Anyone who knows their salt about the falseness and deception of unique jw 'truth' and how they ~~support~~ twist/distort it from the bible (for example - EX JWS! LOL) can rip and tear a jws beliefs at their door in moments. They MUST turn to the ~~reasoning '~~lies and propaganda from the scriptures book' or other publication to stumble their way away from the door in great haste imo.

NO active jw will address the issues (just see theocrat as a laughable example) and even if they were to try, they really don't know squat about their own history or they will refer to the one they've received from ONE source, that very org that has been lying to them all these years. Yer not allowed to find out about the TRUE history of the org though, cuz that would be the road to APOSTACY against such an org - HOW MUCH MORE OBVIOUS DOES IT NEED TO BE? is the question that rages in my head when I look at it.

Anyway, got off on a tangent there kevin. I was going to say that I was drifting for a while and then I fluked out in ending up on this site after looking for info on an UN proposal put forward by a group called 'formulism' to ban all religion. Of course, the internet search ended up here because of the UN NGO scandal which strangely enough didn't really blow me away like it has some. I lurked at all the info for a coupla days on this site and then dared to borrow Crisis Of Conscience from our local library (a well worn book lol) and the rest has been history - namely, the wts is history in the wifeee's and my life - Thank a God wherever he or she may be from saving me spending one more second in this horrific 'religion'! It was the decimation of the 607bce date that first donated to the coffin of jw religious relics that masquerade as 'truth'. If you can win your wife over, imo, it will only be done through a reasonable, loving approach. Turn the 'love bomb' bs people in da troof use for 'new ones' on her, except really mean it with true, unconditional love.

with so many "responsibilities" given to the witnesses by the "faithful and discreet slave", there is little time for them to do anything these days except sleep - and that is when they're not out preaching at unearthly hours in the morning.. .

the enormous pressure to perform, and to be under the watch of the elders to make sure you perform, is a draining experience.. .

a book i have on sociology says this regarding jehovah's witnesses, when discussing sects, that "they require intensive commitments and demonstrations of belief by members.

truthseeker.....I don't think there is a single point in all your posts to your thread that I would'nt agree with. In many ways, you described my youth and later yrs as a honest, true-to-the-org, believing it was da troof JW. Thank god I later got a brain during a low cycle as regards active 'worship', and got a trade with whick i've been able to support my family well enough. Getting that trade also allowed me to go right into bethel within 6 weeks of applying!

I don't want to go on a rant or address theocrat too much on your thread except to say - NOT SURPRISED! He won't answer any of the real issues. He obviously doesn't get the extremely obvious point that it is FROM THE Governing Body that the abuse issue has become what it has. Its sooo stupid to think its just bad men doing bad things - THAT WASN"T the POINT! Its how the 'bad me' AREN'T dealt with due to a variety of factors.

Also, I agree that there are certain people who will make a go of a career and higher education but they are the exception and do so at a risk of disparaging remarks and comments. (most likely behind their back too) The general R&F will sit back in 'non-personality' and wait for the big A to save them from their boring uneducated lives.....sheesh.

all there rules are reinforcements of what is already there.

wasted life

left 2 years ago and surf nearly every night.

i was an elder for 11 years did circuit assembly items etc.

in fact i did everything the society said.

littleMike....there is so much we share in common with the discoveries and feelings of finding out you werent' in the 'one true organization' for most of your life.....

For me, I've been leaving da troof for years (although I thought I'd eventually 'figure it all out') and back active in one form or another, however, it twas not to be. Once I got over the fear of really finding out ALL about the religion of my birth, then I was able to clearly and simply accept what I'd done for all those years. All the books you mentioned and more are part of my 'therapy' as well as this forum. I try hard to accept my own responsiblity in being in that organization all those yrs regardless of the indoctrination from birth. Also, I know I cannot change the past but I CAN do something positive right now to avoid those mistakes again. For one, my children are young and they will be educated the best I can to help them avoid giving their souls over to any group of men especially they corporate brooklyn types....lol.

"Safest in the middle" and other stupid sayings

over the years a whole multitude of stupid or just plain illogical sayings have come from kingdom hall platforms.. take this one as an example:.

brother so-an-so is encouraging the congregation to be fully occupied in congregation activity.

well, there are soooooo many.....

but one that comes to mind and really P'd me off was a bro from the platform (a real loser imo and one of these 'everything is soooo nice in da troof and isn't it all wonderful?' kinda guys) trying to encourage everyone to only associate with those 'as strong as you in da troof or stronger'!

Well, obviously this is a total stinky crap statement from several angles. Its not logical, isn't biblical in the slightest, is anti-Jesus, and it is an addition to the many things that helped me get 'out'.

Another one that comes to mind is the illustration that 'living in the day to day world 'discharges' your 'spiritual' battery and you need the meetings to ~~reindoctrinate~~ recharge your 'spiritual' batteries!' I used this illustration myself several times for satan's sake! - sheesh.....
